Scene 1 — Miami Beach, Afternoon
The warm Miami sun shone across the ocean as waves rolled gently onto the shore. Tourists laughed, music filled the air, and palm trees swayed in the breeze.
Bethany walked beside Larry with a genuine smile, carrying a few shopping bags. Larry walked next to her, relaxed for the first time in weeks. After everything they had been through, this day almost felt normal.
Bethany: “I’m really glad you came, Larry.” Larry: “I figured we both needed a break.”Bethany looked at him with hope. For the first time in a long while, she believed their marriage might actually survive. She silently told herself: “Maybe this trip can change everything.”

She sank onto the edge of the bed. Still holding the surgery paperwork, she broke down in uncontrollable tears. Every happy moment from earlier that day flashed through her mind — the walk on the beach, the shopping, the laughter, the hopeful selfie they had taken together.
Just hours earlier, she believed they were rebuilding their marriage. Now she was completely alone.
