WAYNE’S SECRET DINNER — YAYA CATCHES HIM WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!

SCENE 1 — INT. UPSCALE RESTAURANT — EVENING

The restaurant glows with warm lights. Soft conversations fill the room as couples enjoy their dinners.

WAYNE walks through the entrance with a young woman named AMBER. He is dressed neatly and appears relaxed. Amber smiles as he pulls out a chair for her.

They sit at a table near the window, unaware that their peaceful evening is about to turn into a confrontation.

AMBER

Wayne, I’m glad you invited me out tonight. We haven’t had a chance to sit down and talk like this before.

WAYNE

I thought we could spend some time together without worrying about anything else. Sometimes, it’s good to get away from all the drama.

Amber smiles and looks at the menu.

AMBER

Well, you definitely picked a beautiful place. So, tell me, what made you decide to bring me here?

Wayne pauses for a moment before answering.

WAYNE

I just wanted to have dinner with you. Is there anything wrong with that?

AMBER

No, not at all. I was just curious.

A waiter approaches their table and takes their order.

Wayne leans back in his chair, trying to enjoy the evening. He has no idea that someone who knows him very well is about to walk through the restaurant doors.

SCENE 2 — INT. RESTAURANT ENTRANCE — MOMENTS LATER

The restaurant doors open.

YAYA steps inside, looking around the room. She had not expected to find Wayne there, but when she turns toward the windows, she suddenly freezes.

Her eyes land on Wayne. Then she notices Amber sitting directly across from him.

Yaya’s expression changes instantly. Her smile disappears, and confusion gives way to anger.

She watches them for a few seconds. Wayne is talking to Amber and smiling. Amber laughs at something he says.

To Yaya, the scene feels like a betrayal.

She takes a deep breath and walks toward their table, her footsteps becoming quicker as she approaches.

YAYA

Wayne?

Wayne hears his name and immediately turns around. His smile disappears when he sees Yaya standing beside the table.

WAYNE

Yaya? What are you doing here?

Yaya stares at him in disbelief.

YAYA

What am I doing here? That’s the first thing you want to ask me?

Amber looks from Wayne to Yaya, sensing the sudden tension.

AMBER

Wayne, do you know her?

Yaya turns toward Amber.

YAYA

Yes, she knows him very well. And apparently, she knows enough to have dinner with him while I’m somewhere else.

Wayne quickly pushes his chair back and stands.

WAYNE

Yaya, please calm down. This isn’t the place to have this conversation.

YAYA

Then where is the place, Wayne? Because every time I want to talk to you about something important, you find a reason to avoid me!

Several people at nearby tables begin glancing in their direction. Yaya does not care. Her attention remains fixed on Wayne.

SCENE 3 — INT. RESTAURANT — CONTINUOUS

Wayne looks embarrassed by the attention they are attracting. He gestures toward an empty chair, hoping Yaya will sit down.

WAYNE

Can we please talk about this quietly?

YAYA

Quietly? You want me to sit down and pretend that everything is fine when I just found you having dinner with another woman?

WAYNE

I’m not asking you to pretend anything. I’m asking you to give me a chance to explain.

YAYA

Then explain!

Wayne glances at Amber before looking back at Yaya.

WAYNE

Amber and I came here to have dinner. That’s all.

Yaya lets out a bitter laugh.

YAYA

That’s all? You expect me to believe that?

WAYNE

What else am I supposed to say?

YAYA

You could have told me the truth! You could have told me you were planning to spend the evening with her!

Amber shifts uncomfortably in her seat. She had expected a pleasant dinner, not an argument involving Wayne’s personal life.

AMBER

Yaya, I don’t want to cause problems between you two. Wayne invited me, and I accepted. I didn’t know you would be upset.

Yaya turns toward Amber, her eyes filled with frustration.

YAYA

I’m not blaming you for everything. But you need to understand that this isn’t easy for me to watch.

She turns back to Wayne.

YAYA

The problem is you, Wayne. You’re the one who should have considered my feelings.

Wayne rubs his forehead, struggling to keep his temper under control.

WAYNE

I understand that you’re upset, but you can’t just walk into a restaurant and start accusing me of things.

YAYA

And you can’t keep treating me like I don’t matter!

Her voice trembles with emotion. For a brief moment, the anger on her face gives way to hurt.

YAYA

Do you have any idea how I’ve been feeling lately? I’ve been trying to understand you. I’ve been trying to give you space. I’ve been trying to believe that you care about me.

She pauses, looking directly into his eyes.

YAYA

But then I walk in here and find you sitting with her, laughing and enjoying yourself as if I don’t even exist.

Wayne looks away. Yaya notices his silence, and it makes her even more upset.

SCENE 4 — INT. RESTAURANT — THE CONFRONTATION

Yaya steps closer to Wayne.

YAYA

You’re not treating me right, Wayne. Do you hear me? You’re not treating me right at all!

Wayne looks at her, surprised by the intensity of her words.

WAYNE

Yaya, I never said that you didn’t matter to me.

YAYA

Then why are you making me feel like I don’t?

Her voice cracks slightly.

YAYA

Tell me something. Why did you come here to have dinner with her? Why her, Wayne? What was so important that you couldn’t tell me about it?

Wayne takes a breath before responding.

WAYNE

Because I wanted to have dinner with Amber. I didn’t think it would turn into something like this.

Yaya stares at him, struggling to believe what she has just heard.

YAYA

You didn’t think it would turn into something like this?

She shakes her head.

YAYA

That’s exactly the problem. You do whatever you want, and then you act surprised when I get hurt.

Amber quietly places her napkin beside her plate.

AMBER

Maybe I should leave. I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to stay while you two work this out.

Wayne turns toward her.

WAYNE

Amber, wait. You don’t have to leave because of this.

Yaya immediately looks at him.

YAYA

Of course! Now you’re worried about her leaving.

Wayne turns back to Yaya.

WAYNE

That’s not what I meant.

YAYA

Then what did you mean, Wayne? Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re more concerned about protecting this dinner than understanding why I’m hurt.

Wayne falls silent. The sound of silverware and quiet conversations continues around them, but the tension at their table feels overwhelming.

YAYA

I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me why you thought this was okay.

Wayne meets her gaze.

WAYNE

I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong by having dinner with a friend.

YAYA

And did you think about how I would feel if I found out this way?

Wayne hesitates. That hesitation tells Yaya more than his answer could. She steps back, visibly disappointed.

SCENE 5 — INT. RESTAURANT — YAYA’S HEARTBREAK

Yaya looks down for a moment, trying to compose herself. When she raises her head again, her anger has not disappeared, but her hurt is even more obvious.

YAYA

You know what hurts the most? It’s not even the fact that you’re sitting here with another woman.

Wayne watches her carefully.

YAYA

It’s the fact that I keep expecting you to consider my feelings, and you keep giving me reasons to question whether you do.

WAYNE

Yaya, I never wanted you to feel this way.

YAYA

But I do! And instead of listening to me, you keep telling me to calm down.

She gestures toward Amber and the dinner spread across the table.

YAYA

You came here to enjoy yourself. You planned this evening, sat down, ordered your food, and started laughing with her. Did you ever stop to think about me?

WAYNE

I wasn’t trying to hurt you.

YAYA

Sometimes, Wayne, it doesn’t matter what you intended. Your actions still hurt the people who care about you.

Wayne looks down, unable to find an immediate response.

Amber rises slowly from her chair.

AMBER

Wayne, I think you and Yaya need to talk privately. I’m going to give you both some space.

WAYNE

Amber, I’m sorry this happened.

AMBER

I understand. But I don’t want to be caught in the middle of something I didn’t know about.

Amber picks up her handbag and walks toward the restaurant entrance.

Yaya watches her leave before turning back to Wayne.

YAYA

Now she’s gone. So tell me the truth. What am I supposed to believe about us?

Wayne pulls out the chair beside him, but Yaya remains standing.

WAYNE

I don’t want us to fight. You’re important to me, and I want us to be able to talk without everything turning into an argument.

YAYA

Then stop giving me reasons to feel like I have to fight for your attention.

She looks around the restaurant, suddenly aware of how exposed and uncomfortable the situation has become.

YAYA

I didn’t come here expecting to argue with you. I didn’t come here expecting to find you with another woman. I came here thinking you would eventually understand how much your behavior affects me.

She pauses.

YAYA

But maybe I’ve been expecting something from you that you’re not ready to give.

Wayne takes a step toward her.

WAYNE

Yaya, don’t walk away like this. Please. Let me explain everything.

Yaya looks at him for a long moment.

YAYA

Then start by being honest with me. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Right now.

Wayne opens his mouth to respond, but the words do not come. Yaya shakes her head, disappointed.

YAYA

That’s what I thought.

She turns and begins walking toward the entrance.

WAYNE

Yaya!

She stops but does not turn around.

WAYNE

Please don’t leave before we finish this conversation.

Yaya closes her eyes briefly before facing him one final time.

YAYA

I’m tired of conversations that leave me feeling worse than before, Wayne. If you really care about me, you’ll have to show me that with your actions.

She turns and walks out of the restaurant. Wayne remains beside the table, watching her disappear through the doors.

The dinner he had planned now sits forgotten before him. He slowly lowers himself into his chair, staring at the empty seat where Amber had been sitting.

For the first time that evening, the restaurant no longer feels peaceful. It feels like a place where a difficult truth has finally come to the surface.

SCENE 6 — INT. RESTAURANT ENTRANCE — CLIFFHANGER

Outside, Yaya stands beneath the restaurant’s lights, trying to collect her thoughts. She takes out her phone, then hesitates before making a call.

Inside, Wayne notices her standing outside through the window. He rises from his chair and walks toward the entrance, determined not to let the argument end without another attempt to speak to her.

Just as Wayne reaches the door, Yaya’s phone begins ringing. She looks at the screen. Her expression changes.

Wayne opens the door behind her.

WAYNE

Yaya, wait. Who’s calling you?

Yaya looks at him, then back at her phone.

YAYA

That’s none of your business right now, Wayne.

Wayne stops in his tracks.

WAYNE

What does that mean?

Yaya answers the call without taking her eyes off him.

YAYA

Hello?

She listens silently for a moment. Then her face becomes serious.

YAYA

You’re sure about that?

Wayne watches her, growing increasingly concerned.

WAYNE

Yaya, what’s going on?

She raises one hand, signaling for him to remain quiet.

YAYA

Okay. I’ll be there soon.

Yaya ends the call and puts her phone away. Wayne steps closer.

WAYNE

Who was that? What’s happened?

Yaya looks at him, her expression unreadable.

YAYA

I have something important to take care of. And after tonight, I think we both need some time to figure out what we really want.

WAYNE

Yaya, please—

YAYA

Good night, Wayne.

She walks away, leaving him standing outside the restaurant. Wayne watches her disappear into the evening, realizing that their argument may have changed their relationship in
