BOX 1 — THE NIGHT NOBODY EXPECTED

It was late at night, and Wayne’s house had become unusually quiet.

Wayne had been spending time with Lauren, and both of them were in the same room, talking privately before eventually falling asleep.

Neither of them expected anyone to come into the room.

Lauren was lying on one side of the bed while Wayne was resting nearby. The house was silent. Everything seemed peaceful.

But outside the room, Yaya had just arrived. She had not told Wayne that she was coming.

Yaya had something important she wanted to discuss with him. She walked through the house quietly, believing Wayne was probably still awake.

Then she reached the bedroom door. She slowly opened it.

What she saw immediately stopped her in her tracks. Wayne and Lauren were together in the room.

Yaya’s expression changed. She could not believe what she was seeing.

BOX 2 — YAYA’S SHOCK TURNS INTO ANGER

For several seconds, Yaya simply stood at the doorway. She stared at Wayne and Lauren.

Her heart was filled with anger and disappointment. She had never expected to see Wayne and Lauren together like this.

Lauren suddenly noticed Yaya standing there. Lauren sat up quickly.

“Yaya?”

Her voice was filled with surprise.

Wayne woke up moments later. When he looked toward the door, he immediately realized what had happened.

His face changed.

“Yaya, wait.”

But Yaya did not respond. She looked at Wayne with disbelief.

“Wayne, what is this?”

Wayne quickly got up.

“Yaya, please let me explain.”

But Yaya was already angry.

BOX 3 — WAYNE REALIZES HE HAS BEEN CAUGHT

Wayne stepped toward Yaya.

“Yaya, this is not what you think.”

Yaya shook her head.

“Not what I think? Wayne, I walked into this room and saw you and Lauren together.”

Lauren remained quiet. She knew that the situation had suddenly become serious.

Wayne tried to calm Yaya down.

“Please, just listen to me for one minute.”

Yaya looked at him.

“You want me to listen?”

Wayne nodded.

“Yes. I promise there is an explanation.”

But Yaya’s anger continued to grow.

“Why didn’t you tell me Lauren was here?”

Wayne paused. That silence made Yaya even more suspicious.

She crossed her arms.

“Exactly. You don’t even know what to say.”

BOX 4 — LAUREN FINALLY SPEAKS

Lauren finally stood up.

“Yaya, please don’t misunderstand what happened.”

Yaya looked directly at her.

“I don’t want to hear anything from you right now.”

Lauren became quiet.

Wayne looked at Lauren and then back at Yaya.

“Yaya, Lauren and I were just talking. We didn’t plan for you to come here.”

Yaya responded immediately.

“Then why were you both sleeping in the same room?”

Wayne struggled to answer.

“We were tired. It was late, and we ended up falling asleep.”

Yaya shook her head.

“That is your explanation?”

Wayne nodded.

“Yes.”

BOX 5 — YAYA REFUSES TO TRUST THE EXPLANATION

Wayne tried again.

“Yaya, you have to believe me.”

Yaya looked at him with frustration.

“I believed you before I walked into this room.”

Wayne became silent.

Yaya continued.

“But now I’m standing here looking at something completely different.”

Lauren tried to interrupt.

“Yaya, nothing happened.”

Yaya turned toward her.

“Then why does this feel so wrong?”

Lauren had no immediate answer.

Wayne stepped closer.

“Yaya, please. I don’t want you to leave angry.”

Yaya moved backward.

“I’m already angry.”

BOX 6 — WAYNE TRIES TO STOP YAYA

Yaya turned around and started walking toward the door. Wayne quickly followed her.

“Yaya, please wait.”

She continued walking.

“Just give me five minutes.”

Yaya stopped. For a moment, Wayne thought she might listen.

But she turned around and looked at him.

“You had plenty of time to tell me what was happening.”

Wayne looked hurt.

“I wasn’t trying to hide anything from you.”

Yaya responded,

“Then why didn’t I hear it from you?”

Wayne had no immediate answer.

BOX 7 — THE ARGUMENT GETS MORE EMOTIONAL

“Yaya, Lauren is here because we were talking about some things. That’s all.”

“Then you should have told me.”

“I know.”

“But you didn’t.”

Wayne sighed.

“I didn’t think this situation would happen.”

Yaya looked at him.

“That is exactly the problem, Wayne.”

Lauren remained in the background. She did not want to make the situation worse.

Yaya continued,

“I don’t know what happened before I walked into this room, and I don’t want to stand here guessing.”

“Nothing happened.”

“Maybe that’s what you believe, but I don’t feel the same way.”

BOX 8 — YAYA MAKES A DECISION

Yaya finally took a deep breath.

“I need some space.”

Wayne immediately said,

“Yaya, don’t leave like this.”

She looked at him.

“What do you want me to do?”

Wayne said,

“Stay and talk to me.”

Yaya shook her head.

“If I stay right now, I’m going to say things because I’m angry.”

Wayne understood that she needed time.

But he still did not want her to walk away believing something that he said was untrue.

“Yaya, please don’t make a decision based on what you just saw.”

“I am not making any decision tonight.”

BOX 9 — LAUREN FEELS RESPONSIBLE

After Yaya walked away, Lauren looked at Wayne.

“Wayne, I’m sorry.”

Wayne looked toward the hallway.

“This is going to be difficult.”

Lauren said,

“I never wanted Yaya to see us like that.”

Wayne nodded.

“Neither did I.”

Lauren lowered her head.

“I should probably leave.”

Wayne did not respond immediately. He was still thinking about Yaya.

He knew that whatever explanation he gave later would have to be honest and clear.

BOX 10 — YAYA WALKS AWAY

Yaya reached her car. She opened the door but stopped before getting inside.

She looked back toward Wayne’s house.

A part of her wanted Wayne to come outside and explain everything. Another part of her wanted to leave immediately.

Her phone suddenly started ringing. It was Wayne.

Yaya looked at the screen. She did not answer.

A few seconds later, Wayne called again. Again, Yaya ignored the call.

She finally turned off her phone.

“I can’t do this right now.”

Then she got into her car and drove away.

BOX 11 — WAYNE WANTS TO FIX EVERYTHING

Wayne sat quietly after Yaya left.

Lauren asked,

“Are you going to call her again?”

Wayne looked at his phone.

“I don’t think she wants to hear from me.”

Lauren said,

“Maybe she just needs time.”

Wayne nodded.

“I know.”

He looked disappointed.

“I should have handled everything differently.”

Wayne knew that Yaya had every right to ask questions.

He also knew that simply saying “nothing happened” would not automatically make her trust him.

BOX 12 — YAYA TELLS HERSELF NOT TO LOOK BACK

Meanwhile, Yaya arrived at her destination. She sat inside her car for several minutes.

Her mind kept replaying the moment she opened Wayne’s bedroom door.

She remembered Wayne’s shocked expression. She remembered Lauren sitting there.

And she remembered Wayne immediately saying,

“Yaya, let me explain.”

But she had refused to listen.

Yaya knew that anger had controlled her in that moment.

Still, she felt that Wayne should have been more honest with her.

She finally stepped out of the car. She looked at her phone again.

There were several missed calls from Wayne. She did not call him back.

BOX 13 — WAYNE SENDS ONE FINAL MESSAGE

Later that night, Wayne sent Yaya a message. He did not call again.
