The Truth Behind It All
🕵️💵 A cracked hotel door reveals the one secret Brooke never saw coming — her own father was behind everything all along.

The Truth Behind It All

Int. Hotel Room — Night

The room is quiet, dimly lit by a single lamp. The city lights flicker through the curtains. Mariah stands near the window, looking nervous but relieved. She has just finished the job Larry asked her to do. The door opens. Larry walks in, calm and confident. He closes the door behind him.

LARRY: You did a good job, Mariah.

Mariah turns toward him.

MARIAH: I did exactly what you asked me to do.

Larry gives her a small nod.

LARRY: And you didn’t let Isaiah suspect anything?

Mariah shakes her head.

MARIAH: No. He has no idea that I was keeping an eye on him.

Larry walks toward the table and picks up a small envelope.

LARRY: Good. That’s exactly what I wanted.

Mariah looks at the envelope. She already knows what is inside.

MARIAH: Is that my payment?

Larry smiles.

LARRY: You earned it.

He opens the envelope and pulls out several hundred-dollar bills. Mariah watches him carefully.

Int. Hotel Hallway — Continuous

Brooke walks down the hallway. She looks distracted, lost in her thoughts. She stops outside a hotel room. Something catches her attention. The door is slightly open. Brooke hears voices coming from inside. She slowly steps closer.

Int. Hotel Room — Continuous

Larry counts the money.

LARRY: Here. This is for the work you did.

He hands the dollars to Mariah.

MARIAH: Thank you.

LARRY: You know what you have to do now.

Mariah looks at him.

MARIAH: There won’t be any problem.

LARRY: There better not be.

Outside the door, Brooke freezes. Her eyes widen. She recognizes her dad’s voice. Then she sees Larry handing money to Mariah. Brooke’s expression slowly changes from confusion to shock. She covers her mouth, trying not to make a sound.

Int. Hotel Hallway — Moments Later

Brooke takes a step backward. Her breathing becomes heavier. She looks at the hotel room again. Everything suddenly makes sense. Mariah wasn’t helping Isaiah. She was watching him. And Larry was the one paying her. Brooke whispers to herself.

BROOKE: Dad…

Tears begin to fill her eyes.

BROOKE: It was you.

She backs away from the door. Her heart is breaking.

Int. Hotel Room — Continuous

Mariah puts the money into her bag.

MARIAH: Are you sure nobody will find out?

Larry looks at her seriously.

LARRY: Nobody will know anything.

MARIAH: And what about Brooke?

Larry’s expression becomes cold.

LARRY: She doesn’t need to know.

Mariah hesitates.

MARIAH: You really believe this will keep them apart?

Larry doesn’t hesitate.

LARRY: Isaiah and Brooke cannot be together.

Mariah looks uncomfortable.

MARIAH: But they care about each other.

Larry turns toward her.

LARRY: That’s exactly the problem.

Int. Hotel Hallway — Same Time

Brooke hears every word. Her eyes fill with tears. She presses herself against the wall.

BROOKE: He did all of this…

She wipes away a tear.

BROOKE: He never wanted Isaiah and me to be together.

Brooke’s hands tremble. Memories rush through her mind. Every argument. Every misunderstanding. Every moment when Isaiah seemed distant. Every time something came between them. Now she understands. It wasn’t a coincidence. Someone had been controlling everything from behind the scenes. And that someone was her own father.

Int. Hotel Room — Night

Larry sits down. Mariah stands in front of him.

MARIAH: What happens if Brooke finds out?

Larry looks at her.

LARRY: She won’t.

MARIAH: But what if she does?

Larry’s expression hardens.

LARRY: Then I’ll deal with it.

Mariah looks away. She doesn’t seem comfortable with what she has done.

Int. Hotel Hallway — Night

Brooke quietly walks away from the room. She doesn’t look back. Her tears finally fall. She pulls out her phone. Isaiah’s name appears on the screen. Her thumb hovers over his name. She wants to call him. She wants to tell him everything. But she stops. Brooke lowers the phone.

BROOKE: Isaiah…

She closes her eyes.

BROOKE: I’m so sorry.

She realizes that while she thought Isaiah had walked away from her, he may have been fighting a battle he never even knew existed.

Ext. Hotel — Night

Brooke walks out of the hotel. The cold night air hits her face. She stops on the sidewalk. Cars pass in the distance. She looks up at the hotel building. Her expression changes. The sadness in her eyes slowly turns into determination.

BROOKE: You wanted to keep us apart, Dad.

She takes a deep breath.

BROOKE: But I’m not going to let you decide my life anymore.

Brooke turns and walks away.

Int. Hotel Room — Later

Larry stands near the window. Mariah is preparing to leave.

MARIAH: Everything is finished.

Larry nods.

LARRY: Good.

Mariah opens the door. Before leaving, she turns around.

MARIAH: Larry…

He looks at her.

MARIAH: Maybe you should think about what you’re doing.

Larry’s face remains expressionless.

LARRY: Just leave.

Mariah walks out. Larry closes the door. He believes his secret is safe. But he doesn’t know that Brooke already knows the truth.

Ext. City Street — Night

Brooke walks alone. Her phone rings. She looks at the screen. It’s Isaiah. She stops. For a moment, she doesn’t answer. She looks overwhelmed. Then she answers.

BROOKE: Hello?

A familiar voice comes from the other end.

ISAIAH: Brooke, where are you?

She struggles to hold back her tears.

BROOKE: I’m okay.

ISAIAH: You don’t sound okay.

Brooke looks toward the city lights.

BROOKE: I just found out something.

Isaiah becomes concerned.

ISAIAH: What happened?

Brooke takes a deep breath.

BROOKE: I know why everything went wrong between us.

There is silence on the phone.

ISAIAH: What do you mean?

Brooke closes her eyes. She knows this conversation will change everything.

BROOKE: My dad.

Isaiah says nothing.

BROOKE: He hired Mariah to watch you.

Isaiah is stunned.

ISAIAH: What?

BROOKE: I saw them together at the hotel. He was paying her.

Isaiah’s voice becomes tense.

ISAIAH: Brooke, are you sure?

BROOKE: Yes.

A tear rolls down her cheek.

BROOKE: He did all of this because he didn’t want us together.
