Dave Kicks Amber Out: “Get a Divorce from Anthony Before You Come Back!”

SCENE 1 — DAVE’S HOUSE

The atmosphere inside Dave’s house is tense. Amber has just returned after meeting Anthony. She tries to remain calm, but Dave immediately notices that something is wrong. He has been waiting for her and expecting her to finally bring the divorce papers.

Amber slowly walks into the room and puts her purse down. Dave watches her carefully before finally asking the question that has been on his mind.

DAVE:
“Amber, where are the divorce papers?”

Amber freezes for a moment. She looks away, clearly uncomfortable with the question.

AMBER:
“Dave, can we please not start this conversation right now? I’m tired, and I’ve had a long day.”

Dave shakes his head. He already knows that Amber is trying to avoid the subject.

DAVE:
“No. We need to talk about this now.”

Amber takes a deep breath. She knows exactly what Dave wants to hear, but she still cannot give him the answer he expects.

AMBER:
“I went to see Anthony, but things didn’t go the way I expected.”

Dave’s expression immediately changes.

DAVE:
“What does that mean? Did you ask him about the divorce?”

AMBER:
“Yes, I talked to him.”

DAVE:
“And?”

Amber looks down.

AMBER:
“Dave, it’s complicated.”

Dave lets out a frustrated sigh.

DAVE:
“Complicated? Amber, this has been complicated for long enough.”

SCENE 2 — THE ARGUMENT BEGINS

Dave walks across the room, trying to control his emotions. He has been patient with Amber, but her constant hesitation is beginning to hurt him.

DAVE:
“I thought you were finally going to handle this. You told me you were going to meet Anthony and talk about the divorce.”

Amber nods.

AMBER:
“I did.”

DAVE:
“Then why don’t you have the papers?”

Amber looks toward the door. She clearly wants to escape the conversation.

AMBER:
“I told you, Dave. I need more time.”

Dave turns toward her.

DAVE:
“More time for what? How much more time do you need, Amber?”

Amber tries to explain herself.

AMBER:
“Anthony and I have history. We have things we need to settle. I can’t just walk away from everything overnight.”

Dave’s frustration grows.

DAVE:
“But you can keep me waiting?”

AMBER:
“That’s not what I’m doing.”

DAVE:
“That’s exactly what you’re doing!”

The room suddenly becomes silent. Amber looks hurt by his words. Dave takes a breath, but his frustration remains.

SCENE 3 — DAVE DEMANDS AN ANSWER

Dave walks toward Amber. His expression is serious. He finally asks the question he has been holding inside for so long.

DAVE:
“Tell me the truth. Why are you so afraid to get a divorce from Anthony?”

Amber looks shocked by the question.

AMBER:
“I’m not afraid.”

DAVE:
“Then prove it.”

Amber remains silent.

DAVE:
“You keep saying you’re going to end things with him, but every time the moment comes, you find another excuse.”

Amber shakes her head.

AMBER:
“Dave, please understand me. I just need some time to figure everything out.”

Dave looks at her with disappointment.

DAVE:
“And what about me? Have you ever stopped to think about what this is doing to me?”

Amber’s expression softens.

AMBER:
“I never wanted to hurt you.”

DAVE:
“But you are hurting me.”

Amber lowers her eyes. For a moment, neither of them speaks.

SCENE 4 — AMBER TRIES TO AVOID THE TRUTH

Amber picks up her purse and starts walking toward another room. Dave watches her closely.

DAVE:
“Where are you going?”

AMBER:
“I don’t want to argue anymore.”

DAVE:
“We’re not finished talking.”

Amber stops and turns around.

AMBER:
“Dave, what do you want me to say?”

Dave looks directly into her eyes.

DAVE:
“I want you to tell me that you’re ready to divorce Anthony.”

Amber remains silent. Her silence says everything.

DAVE:
“That’s what I thought.”

Amber quickly responds.

AMBER:
“No, Dave. It’s not like that.”

DAVE:
“Then what is it like?”

Amber struggles to find the right words.

AMBER:
“I just need to make sure I’m doing the right thing.”

Dave shakes his head.

DAVE:
“You’ve had enough time to make that decision.”

SCENE 5 — DAVE LOSES HIS TEMPER

Dave’s patience finally disappears. He points toward the front door.

DAVE:
“Then leave.”

Amber looks at him in shock.

AMBER:
“What?”

DAVE:
“You heard me. Leave my house.”

Amber’s eyes fill with tears.

AMBER:
“Dave, please.”

DAVE:
“No. I’m done listening to excuses.”

Amber takes a step toward him.

AMBER:
“I love you.”

Dave looks away. Those words hurt him even more because he feels that Amber’s actions do not match her words.

DAVE:
“If you really love me, then stop keeping me trapped in this situation.”

Amber begins crying.

AMBER:
“I never meant for things to become like this.”

DAVE:
“But they have.”

Dave opens the front door. Amber stands there completely stunned.

SCENE 6 — AMBER IS FORCED TO LEAVE

Amber slowly walks toward the doorway. Before leaving, she turns around one last time.

AMBER:
“Are you really doing this?”

Dave looks at her with disappointment.

DAVE:
“Yes. I’m doing this because I can’t keep living like this.”

Amber’s tears continue to fall.

AMBER:
“After everything we’ve been through?”

Dave takes a deep breath before answering.

DAVE:
“I’m not asking you to forget everything. I’m asking you to make a decision.”

Amber looks down.

AMBER:
“So what happens now?”

Dave gives her a final answer.

DAVE:
“Now you go back and deal with Anthony. Get your divorce from Anthony. Then come back to me.”

SCENE 7 — AMBER’S SHOCK

Amber steps outside Dave’s house, completely heartbroken. She looks back at the closed door, unable to believe that Dave actually sent her away.

She wipes her tears and takes a deep breath. For the first time, Amber realizes that her hesitation has consequences.

She can no longer continue avoiding the decision. If she truly wants Dave back in her life, she must finally confront Antho

AMBER:
“Dave…”

There is no answer.

Amber slowly walks away from the house, carrying the emotional weight of Dave’s ultimatum with her.

Inside the house, Dave stands alone. Although he is angry, his heart is also broken. He looks toward the closed door and quietly speaks to himself.

DAVE:
“I love you, Amber… but I can’t keep waiting forever.”
