💔 LARRY & BETHANY: THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED
🌙 SCENE 1 — LATE AT NIGHT
The house is quiet. The lights are dim, and the clock has already passed midnight. Bethany lies in bed, exhausted, hoping to finally get some rest.
However, Larry is still awake. His mind is filled with worry about Bethany’s upcoming surgery. He keeps talking to her because he believes he needs to make sure she is okay.
LARRY
“Bethany, I don’t think you should sleep right now. I’m worried about you.”
BETHANY
“Larry, it’s late. I’m exhausted. I just want to sleep.”
Larry looks concerned, but Bethany is becoming increasingly frustrated.
LARRY
“I’m only doing this because I care about you. After everything happening with your surgery, I don’t want anything to go wrong.”
BETHANY
“But keeping me awake all night isn’t helping me. I need rest too.”
😠 SCENE 2 — BETHANY REACHES HER LIMIT
Bethany sits up in bed. Her tired expression slowly turns into frustration.
BETHANY
“I’ve tried to understand you, Larry. I really have. But you’re not listening to me.”
LARRY
“I’m scared something could happen to you.”
BETHANY
“I understand that you’re worried. But you can’t keep making decisions for me.”
The room becomes silent. Bethany takes a deep breath and gets out of bed.
LARRY
“Where are you going?”
BETHANY
“I’m leaving for tonight. I need some peace.”
HIGHLIGHT: Bethany feels that she needs space and support rather than more arguments.
🚪 SCENE 3 — BETHANY DECIDES TO LEAVE
Bethany gathers a few belongings. She does not want another argument, so she quietly prepares to leave the house.
LARRY
“Bethany, don’t do this. We can talk about everything tomorrow.”
BETHANY
“That’s what you always say. Tonight, I need to be somewhere I can actually breathe.”
Just then, Bethany’s mother arrives. She immediately notices that something is wrong.
BETHANY’S MOM
“Bethany, are you okay?”
BETHANY
“I’m okay, Mom. I just don’t want to stay here tonight.”
Her mother nods and offers to take her home.
BETHANY’S MOM
“Come with me. You can stay at my house tonight. We’ll talk when you’re ready.”
🚗 SCENE 4 — BETHANY LEAVES WITH HER MOM
Bethany walks toward the front door with her mother. Larry watches them from inside the house.
LARRY
“You’re really leaving?”
BETHANY
“Yes, Larry. I need some space.”
LARRY
“After everything I’ve done for you?”
Bethany pauses before answering.
BETHANY
“This isn’t about everything you’ve done for me. It’s about what I need right now.”
Her mother gently encourages her to come outside.
BETHANY’S MOM
“Come on, Bethany.”
Bethany walks out with her mother, leaving Larry standing at the doorway.
🔥 SCENE 5 — LARRY BECOMES ANGRY
The front door closes.
Larry stands alone inside the house. His worry quickly turns into frustration.
LARRY
“I was only trying to protect her.”
He looks toward the door.
LARRY
“Why doesn’t she understand that?”
Larry takes out his phone and considers calling Bethany. But after a moment, he stops.
LARRY
“Maybe she needs some space.”
DRAMATIC MOMENT: Larry is angry, but underneath his anger is fear that he may lose Bethany.
🏠 SCENE 6 — AT BETHANY’S MOM’S HOUSE
Meanwhile, Bethany arrives at her mother’s house. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful.
Bethany sits down on the couch while her mother sits beside her.
BETHANY
“I know Larry is worried about me, Mom. But I feel like he doesn’t hear me anymore.”
BETHANY’S MOM
“Sometimes people become so worried that they forget how their actions affect the person they’re trying to protect.”
Bethany looks down and thinks about everything that happened.
BETHANY
“I just want him to trust me too.”
BETHANY’S MOM
“Then maybe that’s what you both need to talk about.”
🌅 SCENE 7 — THE NEXT MORNING
The next morning, Larry sits alone at the kitchen table. He barely slept during the night.
He looks at his phone. There are still no messages from Bethany.
LARRY
“She’s really serious this time.”
After thinking for a moment, Larry sends Bethany a message.
LARRY’S MESSAGE: “I know you’re angry. I was scared, and I handled everything the wrong way. I’m sorry.”
At her mother’s house, Bethany sees the message. She reads it carefully but does not immediately respond.
BETHANY
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.”
BETHANY’S MOM
“You don’t have to decide everything today.”
📞 SCENE 8 — THE UNEXPECTED CALL
Suddenly, Larry’s phone rings.
He looks at the screen. It is Bethany.
LARRY
“Bethany?”
BETHANY
“Larry, we need to talk.”
Larry immediately becomes serious.
LARRY
“Okay. I’m listening.”
BETHANY
“I don’t want another argument. I want you to understand why I left.”
LARRY
“I understand that you were hurt.”
BETHANY
“I was exhausted. I needed support, not more pressure.”
Larry becomes quiet for a moment.
LARRY
“You’re right. I was so focused on my fear that I forgot to listen to you.”
Bethany takes a deep breath.
BETHANY
“That’s all I’ve been asking for.”
💭 SCENE 9 — WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The conversation ends, but neither Larry nor Bethany knows what the future holds.
Larry looks toward the front door where Bethany left the previous night.
Bethany sits beside her mother, thinking about whether she should return home.
LARRY
“I don’t want to lose her.”
BETHANY
“I don’t want our marriage to keep feeling like this.”
Both remain lost in thought. The tension between them is still there, but for the first time, both seem willing to listen to each other.
