SCENE 1 — INT. AMBER’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING
The house is unusually quiet.
Documents are spread across the coffee table.
Amber sits on the couch, staring at the property papers. Her expression is tense, and worry is clearly written across her face.
Dave stands near the window, watching her carefully.
He knows how much this property means to Amber.
It represents years of sacrifice, determination, and hard work.
Dave slowly walks toward her.
DAVE
Amber, listen to me. Maybe you should just give Anthony the property and walk away.
Amber immediately looks up.
Her eyes fill with disbelief.
For a moment, she says nothing.
Then she slowly shakes her head.
AMBER
Give Anthony my property?
Her voice trembles.
AMBER
Dave, this property is the result of my hard work. I sacrificed so much to build this life. I worked for everything I have.
Amber picks up the property documents.
She holds them tightly against her chest.
“I WILL NEVER GIVE ANTHONY MY PROPERTY.”
Dave looks at her silently.
He can see the determination in her eyes.
Amber wipes away a tear.
AMBER
Anthony already took enough from me. I am not going to stand here and let him take this too.
Dave sits beside her.
His expression becomes serious.
DAVE
I understand why you feel that way.
Amber looks down at the papers.
Her voice becomes softer.
AMBER
I don’t know what Anthony is going to do next. I don’t know how far he will go to get what he wants.
Dave listens carefully.
Amber’s hands begin to shake.
AMBER
For so long, I felt like I was fighting everything by myself.
Dave looks directly at her.
Something changes in his expression.
He realizes that Amber doesn’t need someone to tell her to surrender.
She needs someone who will stand beside her.
DAVE
Then you don’t have to fight alone anymore.
DAVE
You built this with your own hard work. If you don’t want to give it up, then don’t.
For the first time that evening, a small sense of relief appears on Amber’s face.
AMBER
But what if Anthony comes after me?
DAVE
Then we’ll face whatever comes next.
Amber’s eyes fill with tears again. She realizes that Dave is no longer asking her to run away from the situation. Instead, he is choosing to stand beside her.
AMBER
You really mean that?
DAVE
Yes. I may have told you to walk away earlier because I thought it would protect you. But now I understand something.
DAVE
Walking away isn’t always the answer. Sometimes you have to stand up for what you worked for.
AMBER
I don’t want to lose everything.
DAVE
You won’t give up anything because someone scares you into doing it.
AMBER
I’m trying to be strong.
DAVE
You are strong. Being scared doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means this matters to you.
The room becomes quiet again.
Outside, the evening light begins to fade.
AMBER
This property is more than just a house to me.
AMBER
It’s proof that I didn’t give up.
DAVE
Then don’t give up now.
“I WILL NOT GIVE ANTHONY MY PROPERTY.”
DAVE
And you don’t have to explain yourself to me.
DAVE
Because I am standing by you.
DAVE
No matter what happens next, you won’t face it alone.
Amber covers her face for a moment as the emotions overwhelm her.
After a few seconds, Amber lowers her hands.
AMBER
I was so afraid that everyone would tell me to give up.
DAVE
And I’m not going to let fear make this decision for you.
Amber slowly places the property documents back on the table.
This time, she does not look at them with fear.
She looks at them with determination.
AMBER
Then I am going to fight for what belongs to me.
DAVE
That’s the Amber I know.
A quiet smile appears on Amber’s face.
But suddenly, her phone begins to ring.
The smile disappears.
Amber looks at the screen.
ANTHONY’S NAME APPEARS ON THE SCREEN.
Her expression changes instantly.
Amber nods. She doesn’t answer.
The phone continues ringing.
AMBER
What if he threatens me?
DAVE
Then we deal with it properly. Don’t panic.
The phone stops ringing.
A moment later, a message appears.
Amber looks at it but hesitates to open it.
DAVE
Whatever he says, remember what you just told me. This is the result of your hard work.
AMBER
And I will never give it to him.
Amber finally feels a little stronger.
She puts her phone face down on the table.
DAVE
That’s okay. You can be scared and still stand your ground.
Amber takes a deep breath.
She looks toward the window.
The last light of evening shines across the room.
AMBER
I thought I was alone.
DAVE
You’re not alone anymore.
“I WILL ALWAYS STAND BY YOU, NO MATTER WHAT.”
Amber slowly nods.
She reaches for the property documents and holds them firmly.
The fear is still there.
But now, so is her determination.
