The apartment is quiet. City lights shine through the windows as Delicia stands near the mirror, nervously looking at her phone. Iman sits on the couch, watching her carefully.
IMAN
“Delicia, you’ve been quiet all night. What’s going on?”
Delicia turns around. Her eyes are filled with emotion.
DELICIA
“I’ve been thinking about us.”
IMAN
“About us?”
Delicia walks closer to him, finally ready to say what has been on her mind.
DELICIA
“Yes. About where this relationship is going. I don’t want to keep hiding my feelings anymore.”
IMAN
“You know I care about you.”
DELICIA
“Caring isn’t enough, Iman. If you really love me, then marry me.”

“Marry you?”

“Delicia, marriage is serious. We can’t just make a decision because we’re emotional tonight.”
DELICIA
“I’m not asking because I’m emotional. I’m asking because I’m tired of wondering where I stand with you.”
IMAN
“And what about Shayla?”
Delicia’s expression immediately changes.

“Why are you bringing Shayla into this?”

“Because you know there are going to be consequences.”

Iman remains silent for several seconds. Delicia reaches for his hand.

The following evening, Delicia and Iman stand together in a small, beautifully decorated venue. There are no cameras, no huge celebration, and no crowd. Only a few trusted people know what is happening.

“I can’t believe we’re actually doing this.”
IMAN
“Neither can I.”

“Very.”

“Are you sure?”
She listens carefully. Her eyes widen.

“You’re telling me Delicia and Iman got married?”

“Secretly?”
Shayla ends the call and slowly places her phone on the table.

“So that’s what they’ve been hiding.”
Her disappointment quickly turns into anger.
SHAYLA
“Delicia knew exactly what she was doing. And Iman actually went along with it?”
Shayla grabs her purse and heads toward the door.
SHAYLA
“I need answers.”
SCENE 4 — DELICIA’S HOUSE — EVENING
Delicia and Iman are sitting together, enjoying their first peaceful evening as a married couple.
Suddenly, someone pounds on the door.
SHAYLA
“Delicia! Open this door!”
Delicia looks at Iman. Her smile disappears.
DELICIA
“Shayla.”
IMAN
“She knows.”
DELICIA
“Then we’re going to face her together.”
Delicia opens the door. Shayla storms inside.
Shayla’s eyes immediately go to Delicia’s hand. The wedding ring is impossible to miss.
SHAYLA
“Wow.”
DELICIA
“Shayla—”
SHAYLA
“Don’t ‘Shayla’ me! So it’s true?”
IMAN
“Yes.”
SHAYLA
“You married her?”
IMAN
“I did.”
SHAYLA
“And you convinced him to do this behind everyone’s back?”
DELICIA
“I didn’t force him.”
SHAYLA
“Really? Because that’s not what I’m hearing.”
IMAN
“Enough. This was my decision too.”
Shayla turns toward him, hurt by his answer.
SHAYLA
“Then why hide it?”
IMAN
“Because we knew people would react exactly like this.”
SHAYLA
“You were scared of the truth.”
DELICIA
“No. We were protecting our relationship.”
SHAYLA
“Protecting it? You built it on secrets!”
Delicia’s expression hardens.
DELICIA
“You don’t get to decide whether my marriage is real.”
Shayla looks directly at Iman.
SHAYLA
“Iman, look me in the eyes and tell me this is what you wanted.”
IMAN
“Yes. I wanted to marry Delicia.”
Shayla becomes completely silent. Her anger is replaced by deep disappointment.
SHAYLA
“Then I guess congratulations are in order.”
She slowly claps, but there is no happiness in her expression.
SHAYLA
“Congratulations, Iman.”
SHAYLA
“And congratulations to you too.”
DELICIA
“Thank you.”
Shayla walks toward the door. Before leaving, she stops and looks back.
SHAYLA
“But don’t think this is over.”
IMAN
“Shayla—”
SHAYLA
“You two made your choice. Now I’m going to make mine.”
Shayla walks out and slams the door.
SCENE 5 — OUTSIDE — CONTINUOUS
Shayla walks toward her car, visibly emotional. She takes out her phone and makes a call.
SHAYLA
“I just found out something you’re not going to believe.”
She listens carefully.
SHAYLA
“Delicia and Iman secretly got married.”
Another pause. Shayla’s expression becomes determined.
SHAYLA
“And I’m not letting them think they can just hide this and walk away like nothing happened.”
She ends the call and gets into her car.
SCENE 6 — DELICIA’S HOUSE — NIGHT
Inside, Iman sits quietly. Delicia approaches him.
DELICIA
“Are you okay?”
IMAN
“I don’t know.”
DELICIA
“Do you regret marrying me?”
Iman immediately looks at her.
IMAN
“No. I don’t regret choosing you.”
He takes her hand.
IMAN
“I just didn’t expect everything to change this fast.”
DELICIA
“Whatever happens next, we face it together.”
Iman nods and pulls her closer.
Outside, Shayla’s car disappears into the darkness.
