Larry and Bethany’s House — Evening
The house is unusually quiet. Larry stands near the window, staring outside with a worried expression. Bethany sits on the couch, still thinking about everything Brooke has said. Neither of them seems convinced.
BETHANY: I still don’t believe Brooke told us the whole story.
Larry turns around slowly. His expression is serious.
LARRY: Neither do I.
He walks toward the couch and picks up his keys from the table.
BETHANY: Where are you going?
LARRY: I’m going to Isaiah’s house.
Bethany immediately sits up.
BETHANY: You think Isaiah is going to tell you the truth?
LARRY: I don’t know.
Larry puts his keys in his pocket.
LARRY: But I’m going to ask him directly.
Bethany watches him carefully.
BETHANY: And what if his story doesn’t match Brooke’s?
Larry pauses at the door.
LARRY: Then we’ll know somebody isn’t telling the truth.
He walks out.
Isaiah’s House — Evening
Larry’s car pulls up outside Isaiah’s house. Larry steps out and walks toward the front door. He knocks. A few seconds pass. The door opens. Isaiah freezes when he sees Larry standing there.
ISAIAH: Larry?
Larry studies his face. Isaiah immediately looks uncomfortable.
LARRY: Can I come in?
Isaiah hesitates. Then he steps aside.
ISAIAH: Yeah.
Larry walks inside.
The Direct Question
Isaiah closes the door. Larry remains standing. Isaiah notices Larry’s serious expression.
ISAIAH: Is something wrong?
Larry looks directly at him.
LARRY: I came here because I need an honest answer.
Isaiah’s expression changes. He already knows this conversation is about Brooke.
ISAIAH: About what?
Larry takes a step closer.
LARRY: About Brooke.
Isaiah looks away. Larry notices immediately.
LARRY: Why are you nervous?
ISAIAH: I’m not nervous.
Larry raises an eyebrow.
LARRY: Then look at me.
Isaiah slowly looks back at him. Larry keeps his voice calm.
LARRY: Brooke told us something, and Bethany and I don’t know whether we should believe it.
Isaiah swallows nervously.
ISAIAH: What did she tell you?
LARRY: That’s exactly what I’m asking you.
Isaiah becomes even more uncomfortable. He knows that whatever he says could change everything.
LARRY: Did you and Brooke have a serious relationship situation that you’ve been keeping from everyone?
Isaiah remains silent. Larry watches him closely.
LARRY: Isaiah.
Isaiah finally speaks.
ISAIAH: Larry, it’s complicated.
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY: No. Complicated is what people say when they don’t want to give a straight answer.
Isaiah looks down.
ISAIAH: I didn’t want everybody involved in our problems.
Larry’s expression softens slightly.
LARRY: I understand wanting privacy. But Brooke is part of this family. If something serious happened between you two, people deserve to know the truth.
Isaiah takes a deep breath.
ISAIAH: I never wanted to hurt Brooke.
Larry studies him.
LARRY: Then tell me what happened.
Isaiah hesitates again.
What Really Happened
Isaiah walks toward the couch and sits down. Larry remains standing across from him.
ISAIAH: Brooke and I have been arguing for a while.
Larry nods.
ISAIAH: Things changed between us.
LARRY: Changed how?
Isaiah looks toward the floor.
ISAIAH: We started keeping things from each other.
Larry crosses his arms.
LARRY: And Brooke told us something different.
Isaiah looks up.
ISAIAH: What did she say?
Larry doesn’t answer immediately. His silence makes Isaiah even more anxious.
ISAIAH: Larry, what exactly did Brooke tell you?
Larry finally speaks.
LARRY: She made it sound like you two were hiding something serious.
Isaiah’s face becomes tense.
ISAIAH: She said that?
Larry nods. Isaiah leans back. For a moment, he says nothing. Inside his head, one thought keeps repeating — what if Brooke had already told Larry everything? What if the conversation was no longer private?
ISAIAH: Larry…
LARRY: Yes?
ISAIAH: Did Brooke say that I admitted everything?
Larry watches him carefully.
LARRY: Why would you ask that?
Isaiah immediately realizes he has revealed too much. He looks away. Larry notices.
LARRY: Now I know something is bothering you.
Isaiah stands.
ISAIAH: I just don’t want this to become a bigger problem.
Larry steps closer.
LARRY: Then stop making it bigger by hiding the truth.
Back at Home
Bethany is sitting alone on the couch. She looks at her phone. She considers calling Larry. Then she stops.
BETHANY: What if Brooke was telling the truth?
Bethany looks worried. She knows Larry is trying to find out what really happened.
One Last Question
Larry and Isaiah continue facing each other.
LARRY: I’m going to ask you one last time.
Isaiah looks at him.
LARRY: Did you and Brooke cross a line in your relationship that you knew you shouldn’t have?
Isaiah remains silent. The silence says more than words. Larry exhales slowly.
LARRY: I thought so.
Isaiah immediately shakes his head.
ISAIAH: That’s not what you think.
LARRY: Then explain it.
ISAIAH: Brooke and I made mistakes.
Larry listens.
ISAIAH: But I never wanted anyone to get hurt.
Larry nods slowly.
LARRY: Then you need to talk to Brooke yourself.
Isaiah looks surprised.
ISAIAH: You’re not angry?
Larry gives him a serious look.
LARRY: I’m disappointed that everybody keeps hiding things. But I’m more concerned about what happens next.
Isaiah looks down.
LARRY: If Brooke has a different version of the story, you two need to clear it up.
Larry walks toward the door. Isaiah follows him.
ISAIAH: Larry.
Larry turns around.
ISAIAH: What did Brooke say exactly?
Larry looks at him for a moment.
LARRY: That’s something you need to ask Brooke yourself.
Isaiah’s face drops. Larry opens the door.
LARRY: And Isaiah? Don’t lie to her.
Larry walks outside. The door closes. Isaiah remains standing alone in the living room. He pulls out his phone. Brooke’s name appears on the screen. He hesitates before calling. His finger hovers over the screen. Then he lowers the phone.
He knows the next conversation could change everything.
