Scene 1 — Dave’s House — Evening
The house is unusually quiet. Dave stands near the living room window, lost in thought. Suddenly, the front door opens. Evelyn walks in. Her face is filled with anger, but beneath that anger is something deeper — hurt, love, and desperation. Dave turns around. He freezes when he sees her.
DAVE: Evelyn?
Dave takes a step toward her, completely caught off guard.
DAVE: What are you doing here?
Evelyn looks at him for several seconds. Her eyes begin to fill with emotion.
EVELYN: I came here because I couldn’t stay away anymore.
Dave doesn’t know what to say.
DAVE: Evelyn, you can’t just come here like this.
Evelyn shakes her head.
EVELYN: I can.
She takes another step closer.
EVELYN: Because I’ve spent so much time trying to forget you.
A tear rolls down her cheek.
EVELYN: But I couldn’t.
Dave looks away.
DAVE: You should have forgotten me.
Evelyn immediately responds.
EVELYN: I tried.
A long silence fills the room.
EVELYN: I really tried, Dave.
She wipes her tears.
EVELYN: But every time I thought I was finally moving on, I realized that I still loved you.
Dave looks at her. His expression softens.
Scene 2 — The Proposal
Evelyn slowly reaches into her purse. Dave watches her with confusion. She takes out a small ring. Dave’s eyes widen.
DAVE: Evelyn… what is that?
Evelyn takes a deep breath. Then she gets down on one knee. Dave is completely stunned.
EVELYN: Dave, I know everything between us has been complicated.
She looks directly into his eyes.
EVELYN: But I don’t want to spend another day pretending that I don’t love you.
Dave remains silent.
EVELYN: I love you.
Her voice shakes.
EVELYN: I can’t forget you.
She holds out the ring.
EVELYN: I came all the way from another city just for you.
Dave’s eyes become emotional.
EVELYN: I don’t want anything else. I just want you.
Dave slowly walks toward her. He looks at the ring. Then he looks at Evelyn.
DAVE: Are you sure?
Evelyn nods.
EVELYN: I’ve never been more sure about anything.
Dave takes a deep breath. After a long pause, he reaches for her hand.
DAVE: Yes.
Evelyn’s eyes widen.
DAVE: I’ll marry you.
Evelyn smiles through her tears. Dave helps her stand. They embrace. For a moment, everything else disappears.
Scene 3 — The Next Morning — Church
Morning sunlight shines through the church windows. The atmosphere is peaceful. Evelyn walks down the aisle in a simple wedding dress. Dave waits at the altar. He watches her approach with a nervous smile. When Evelyn reaches him, they hold hands.
DAVE: You really came back for me.
Evelyn smiles.
EVELYN: I told you.
She squeezes his hand.
EVELYN: I couldn’t forget you.
The pastor looks at both of them.
PASTOR: Do you both willingly choose each other as husband and wife?
Dave looks at Evelyn.
DAVE: I do.
Evelyn looks at Dave.
EVELYN: I do.
The pastor smiles.
PASTOR: Then I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Evelyn and Dave look at each other. They smile. The wedding is complete. Neither of them realizes how much this decision is about to change their lives.
Scene 4 — Amber’s House — Later That Day
Amber sits on the couch, scrolling through her phone. She looks relaxed. Then her phone suddenly rings. Amber answers.
AMBER: Hello?
There is silence on the other end. Amber’s smile slowly disappears.
AMBER: What?
She sits upright.
AMBER: Dave did what?
Her face changes completely.
AMBER: You’re telling me Dave married Evelyn?
Amber stands up. She starts pacing around the room.
AMBER: No. That can’t be true.
The person on the phone continues explaining. Amber’s eyes fill with disbelief.
AMBER: When?
Another pause. Her expression becomes hurt.
AMBER: Today?
She slowly sits back down. The phone slips slightly from her hand.
Scene 5 — Amber Discovers the Truth
Amber opens social media. A wedding photo appears on the screen. Dave and Evelyn are standing together. Amber stares at the picture. Her eyes become watery. She zooms in. Dave is smiling. Evelyn is standing beside him. Amber’s breathing becomes heavier.
AMBER: You have got to be kidding me.
She throws the phone onto the couch.
AMBER: After everything?
Amber wipes her tears. She looks angry now.
AMBER: Dave… you really did this?
Amber picks up the phone again. She looks at the picture one more time.
AMBER: You couldn’t even tell me yourself.
Her voice breaks.
AMBER: You let me find out like this?
Scene 6 — Amber Confronts Dave
Later that evening, Amber arrives at Dave’s house. Dave opens the door. His smile disappears when he sees her.
DAVE: Amber…
Amber looks at him. She notices the wedding ring. Her eyes immediately move to his hand.
AMBER: So it’s true.
Dave doesn’t answer. Amber lets out a bitter laugh.
AMBER: You actually married her.
Dave lowers his eyes.
DAVE: Amber, listen—
AMBER: No.
She raises her hand.
AMBER: I don’t want excuses.
Dave looks at her.
AMBER: You made your choice.
Her eyes fill with tears.
AMBER: You chose Evelyn.
Dave remains silent.
AMBER: And you didn’t even have enough respect for me to tell me yourself.
Dave looks regretful.
DAVE: I’m sorry.
Amber shakes her head.
AMBER: Sorry doesn’t change what you did.
She takes a step backward.
AMBER: I trusted you.
Dave tries to respond.
DAVE: Amber—
AMBER: Don’t.
A long silence follows. Amber wipes her tears.
AMBER: I hope you understand what you just threw away.
She turns around. Dave watches her walk away.
Scene 7 — Outside Dave’s House
Amber walks toward her car. She stops for a moment. She looks back at Dave’s house. Her eyes are full of emotion.
AMBER: I never thought you’d hurt me like this.
She gets into her car. The door closes. Inside the house, Dave stands alone. He looks down at his wedding ring. For the first time, the happiness of the wedding begins to feel complicated.
Scene 8 — Evelyn and Dave
Evelyn enters the room. She immediately notices Dave’s expression.
EVELYN: What’s wrong?
Dave looks at her.
DAVE: Amber came here.
Evelyn’s smile disappears.
EVELYN: What did she want?
Dave takes a breath.
DAVE: She knows about the wedding.
Evelyn looks toward the door. Then back at Dave.
EVELYN: And?
Dave looks down.
DAVE: She’s hurt.
