The Deadly Secret: Bethany, Larry, and Jade

The Deadly Secret

Bethany, Larry, and Jade’s Darkest Betrayal

Scene 1: The Secret Behind Closed Doors

The rain hammered against the windows of Bethany and Larry’s beautiful home. It was nearly midnight, and Bethany sat alone in the living room, staring at her phone. Her marriage had never been perfect, but she had always believed that whatever problems she and Larry faced, they would face them together.

That belief shattered when a message appeared on her screen. It was from an unknown number.

“You deserve to know the truth about your husband and Jade. Meet me tomorrow if you want to discover what Larry has been hiding.”

Bethany stared at the message, her fingers trembling.

Bethany “Jade? What does she have to do with my husband?”

Before she could respond, another message arrived. This time, it contained a photograph.

Larry and Jade were standing outside an expensive hotel. His hand rested comfortably around Jade’s waist, and both of them looked far too familiar with each other.

Bethany felt the room spinning around her.

Bethany “No… this can’t be real.”

She immediately called Larry, but he didn’t answer. Then she called again. Still nothing.

Finally, she sent him a message.

“Where are you, Larry? We need to talk.”

A few minutes later, Larry replied.

“I’m working late. Don’t wait up.”

Bethany looked at the photograph again.

Bethany “Working late? Is that what you’re calling it now?”

She wiped her tears and stood up. For the first time in years, Bethany wasn’t afraid of losing her marriage. She was afraid of discovering just how much of her life had been a lie.

And she had no idea that the truth was about to destroy everything.

Scene 2: Jade’s Unexpected Visit

The following afternoon, Bethany was in the kitchen when the doorbell rang.

She opened the door and found Jade standing outside, dressed elegantly, with a confident smile on her face.

Bethany “Jade? What are you doing here?”
Jade “I came to see Larry. Is he home?”

Bethany folded her arms.

Bethany “Why would you need to see my husband?”

Jade tilted her head and studied Bethany’s expression.

Jade “You really don’t know, do you?”
Bethany “Know what?”
Jade “Maybe you should ask Larry why he spends so much time with me.”

Bethany stepped closer.

Bethany “Listen carefully. Whatever game you’re playing, you need to stop.”
Jade “A game? Bethany, I’m not the one pretending to have a happy marriage.”

Before Bethany could respond, Larry appeared at the top of the stairs. His face changed the moment he saw Jade.

Larry “Jade! What are you doing here?”
Jade “I was just talking to your wife.”
Larry “You need to leave. Now.”

Jade gave Bethany one final look before turning toward the door.

Jade “Ask him about the apartment, Bethany. Ask him whose name is on the lease.”

Then she walked away.

Bethany slowly turned toward Larry.

Bethany “What apartment?”
Larry “She’s trying to create problems between us.”
Bethany “Then tell me the truth. What apartment is she talking about?”
Larry “I’m not doing this right now.”

He walked past her and headed toward the kitchen.

Bethany remained frozen in the hallway. His refusal to answer told her more than any confession could have.

Scene 3: The Truth That Destroyed Everything

That evening, Bethany waited until Larry was in the shower before checking the desk in his home office.

She wasn’t proud of what she was doing, but she couldn’t continue living with unanswered questions.

Inside a drawer, she discovered a second phone, several hotel receipts, and a folder containing documents for an apartment.

Then she found something that made her blood run cold.

A printed email from Larry to Jade.

“Once everything is finalized, we won’t have to hide anymore. Bethany will never see it coming.”

Bethany read the words twice. Her hands began to shake.

Beneath the email was a photograph of Larry and Jade embracing. But it was the document underneath the photograph that hurt her most.

Larry had been making plans to separate their finances and leave their marriage without telling her.

Bethany sat down, struggling to breathe normally.

Bethany “After everything I’ve done for him… this is what he was planning?”

A floorboard creaked behind her.

She turned sharply. Larry stood in the doorway.

Larry “What are you doing in my office?”

Bethany held up the email.

Bethany “I could ask you the same question. What exactly have you been planning with Jade?”

Larry stared at the paper, then closed the door behind him. For several seconds, neither spoke.

Larry “I was going to tell you.”

Bethany let out a bitter laugh.

Bethany “When? After you emptied our accounts? After you moved into your apartment? Or after Jade decided she was tired of hiding?”
Larry “You don’t understand the situation.”
Bethany “Then explain it to me!”

Larry’s expression hardened.

Larry “I don’t love you the way I used to, Bethany. I haven’t for a long time.”

The words struck her harder than she had expected.

Bethany “And Jade? You love her?”

Larry looked away. That silence was enough.

Bethany “You could have told me the truth. You could have ended this marriage honestly. Instead, you made me look like a fool in my own home.”
Larry “I’m not going to argue with you.”
Bethany “Of course not. You’ve already made every decision without me.”

Larry picked up the folder and walked out.

Bethany remained in the office, staring at the empty doorway. Her marriage was over.

But the humiliation, the lies, and the feeling that everyone might have known except her left her overwhelmed with anger and grief.

She had entered the room looking for answers. She had walked out of it with a completely different understanding of her husband.

Scene 4: A Dinner Nobody Would Forget

That night, Bethany prepared dinner while Larry sat in the living room watching television. She moved quietly around the kitchen, barely speaking.

When she called him to the table, Larry appeared in a casual mood, apparently relieved that their argument had ended.

Larry “You made my favorite?”
Bethany “I thought we could have one peaceful evening.”
Larry “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. We don’t need to keep fighting.”

Bethany looked at him for a long moment.

Bethany “You really think everything can go back to normal?”
Larry “No. But we can handle this like adults.”
Bethany “Like adults? You had an entire second life, Larry.”

He put down his fork.

Larry “I said I was sorry for how you found out.”
Bethany “You aren’t sorry for what you did. You’re sorry I discovered it.”

Larry didn’t answer. He continued eating, seemingly convinced that the worst of the confrontation was behind them.

After the meal, Larry leaned back in his chair.

Larry “I’m exhausted. I’m going upstairs.”
Bethany “Good night, Larry.”

He paused at the doorway.

Larry “We’ll talk tomorrow.”
Bethany “Yes. Tomorrow.”

Larry went upstairs, leaving Bethany alone at the table.

She stared at the untouched glass beside her plate. For the first time, she understood that the person sitting across from her had become a stranger.

And the secrets inside their home were no longer just about an affair.

They were about to become the center of a mystery neither of them could control.

Scene 5: The Night Everything Changed

At approximately two in the morning, Bethany woke to the sound of something falling upstairs.

She sat upright in bed.

Bethany “Larry?”

There was no answer.

She stepped into the hallway and called his name again. Still nothing.

When she reached the bedroom, she found Larry unresponsive.

Bethany “Larry? Wake up!”

She immediately called emergency services, her voice breaking as she explained what had happened.

The next few minutes passed in a blur. Paramedics arrived, entered the bedroom, and began working to help him.

Bethany stood against the wall, unable to take her eyes off them.

Finally, one of the paramedics approached her. His expression was grave.

Paramedic “I’m very sorry. We couldn’t revive him.”

Bethany stared at him.

Bethany “What do you mean? No. You need to try again.”
Paramedic “We did everything we could.”

Her knees nearly gave way.

Larry was gone.

Whatever arguments remained between them, whatever apologies would never be spoken, whatever questions she still needed answered—all of it had ended in a single, devastating night.

Bethany began to cry.

Bethany “No… please. Not like this.”

But even as grief overwhelmed her, another question began to form.

What had happened to Larry?

The medical team could not immediately explain the cause of his death. Further examination would be necessary.

And that uncertainty would soon change everything.

Scene 6: Jade Receives the News

Across town, Jade was sleeping peacefully when her phone began ringing.

She answered without checking the caller’s name.

Jade “Hello?”
Friend “Jade, have you heard about Larry?”

She immediately sat up.

Jade “What about him?”
Friend “He’s dead.”

For several seconds, Jade said nothing.

Jade “What did you just say?”
Friend “Larry died during the night. Nobody knows exactly what happened yet.”

Jade pressed her lips together.

Her relationship with Larry had been built on promises, secret meetings, and the belief that eventually they would begin a new life together.

Now that future had disappeared.

Yet instead of expressing the grief her friend expected, Jade seemed strangely relieved.

Friend “Jade? Are you there?”
Jade “I’m here.”
Friend “You sound different. Aren’t you upset?”

Jade walked toward the window.

Jade “I’m shocked. That’s all.”

But when the call ended, a faint smile crossed her face.

Larry would never leave her waiting for another promise. He would never disappoint her with another excuse. And he would never tell her what to do again.

Still, Jade knew that Larry’s death would bring questions.

Especially from Bethany.

And Jade had secrets of her own.

Scene 7: Bethany’s Performance

By morning, the house was filled with relatives, friends, and people who had come to offer their condolences.

Bethany sat on the sofa, dressed in black, accepting sympathy while trying to process the events of the night.
