SCENE 1 — WAYNE’S OFFICE, LATE AFTERNOON

The office was filled with conversations, laughter, and the sound of people preparing for another busy day.

Wayne entered confidently, walking beside the stylish woman he had recently chosen as his new queen.

WAYNE

Everybody, listen up for a second. I want y’all to meet somebody special. This is the new queen. She’s going to be around us, working with us, and bringing something different to the table.

NEW QUEEN

Thank you, Wayne. I’m excited to be here. And honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with.

WAYNE

Well, welcome to the team. We’re going to have a good time, but remember, we came here to work.

NEW QUEEN

Of course. Whatever you need from me, Wayne, just say the word.

She held his gaze a little longer than necessary. Wayne smiled, unaware of how quickly this introduction would turn into a personal disaster.

SCENE 2 — THE NEW QUEEN MAKES HER MOVE

A few minutes later, Wayne sat on a sofa, reviewing notes for an upcoming podcast. The new queen brought him a drink and sat unusually close.

NEW QUEEN

I figured you might need something to drink. You’ve been working hard all day.

WAYNE

I appreciate that. You didn’t have to do all that.

NEW QUEEN

I wanted to. Besides, somebody has to make sure you’re taken care of around here.

She leaned closer and touched his shoulder playfully.

WAYNE

You trying to get promoted already?

NEW QUEEN

Maybe I’m just trying to make sure the boss remembers me.

NEW QUEEN

You deserve somebody who knows how to make you feel special.

Wayne hesitated. Instead of stopping the flirtation immediately, he allowed the moment to continue.

SCENE 3 — YAYA ARRIVES UNEXPECTEDLY

Yaya entered the building hoping to surprise Wayne. But laughter coming from his office made her stop outside the door.

NEW QUEEN

Come on, Wayne. You can’t tell me you haven’t noticed the way I’ve been looking at you.

WAYNE

You know this situation could get complicated.

NEW QUEEN

Only if you let it. If another woman wasn’t in the picture, would you give me a chance?

Yaya looked through the partly open doorway. She saw the new queen holding Wayne’s hand and sitting far too close to him.

YAYA

Wayne?

Wayne immediately stood up. His expression changed when he saw Yaya in the doorway.

YAYA

What exactly am I looking at right now?

WAYNE

Yaya, hold on. Let me explain.

YAYA

Explain what? I walked in here and found you sitting with another woman all over you!

SCENE 4 — WAYNE TRIES TO EXPLAIN

WAYNE

Yaya, listen to me. She just got here. We’re still getting to know each other, and things got a little out of hand. That’s all.

YAYA

Things got out of hand? You brought this woman into your office, introduced her as your new queen, and now she’s sitting beside you holding your hand!

WAYNE

I never planned for you to walk in and see this.

YAYA

That’s what you’re worried about? That I walked in and saw it?

Wayne realized he had made things worse. Yaya’s anger was turning into deep disappointment.

YAYA

I trusted you. I believed what we had meant something. Now I’m standing here wondering if I was the only person who took this relationship seriously.

SCENE 5 — YAYA CONFRONTS THE NEW QUEEN

YAYA

Did you know Wayne and I were together before you started acting like this?

NEW QUEEN

I knew you two were close.

YAYA

You knew enough to understand that feelings were involved. And you still decided to behave like I didn’t exist.

NEW QUEEN

I didn’t force Wayne to do anything. If he wanted to tell me to stop, he could have done that.

Yaya turned toward Wayne, realizing that he was responsible for his own choices.

YAYA

She’s right about one thing. You could have stopped this.

WAYNE

Yaya, I made a mistake.

YAYA

A mistake is forgetting something. But when somebody gets close to you and you allow it to happen, you can’t expect me to pretend it means nothing.

SCENE 6 — THE SLAP THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

WAYNE

I know you’re upset, but please give me a chance to explain everything.

YAYA

You embarrassed me, Wayne. You made me feel like I was nothing to you.

Wayne tried to stop Yaya from leaving, but she stepped away. Their argument grew more emotional with every word.

WAYNE

I said I was sorry!

YAYA

And you think that makes everything disappear?

Overwhelmed by anger and heartbreak, Yaya slapped Wayne across the face. The room fell silent.

YAYA

I trusted you. You should have thought about that before you gave me a reason to leave.

She grabbed her bag and walked toward the door. Wayne remained frozen, unable to find words that could repair the damage.

WAYNE

Yaya! Please!

YAYA

Don’t call me until you figure out what you actually want.

The door slammed behind her.

SCENE 7 — WAYNE FACES THE NEW QUEEN

NEW QUEEN

Well, that went differently than I expected.

WAYNE

Don’t.

NEW QUEEN

Are you telling me you don’t have feelings for me?

Wayne looked away, realizing that he had allowed a dangerous situation to develop.

WAYNE

I need you to give me some space.

NEW QUEEN

You’re trying to make me disappear because Yaya caught us.

WAYNE

We both need to understand what happened here.

NEW QUEEN

Figure out whether you actually want Yaya. Because if you keep playing both sides, you could end up with neither of us.

She walked away, leaving Wayne alone with the consequences of his decisions.

SCENE 8 — YAYA REFUSES TO LOOK BACK

Yaya sat inside her car. Wayne called repeatedly, but she declined every call.

WAYNE — TEXT MESSAGE

Yaya, please don’t make a permanent decision while you’re angry. I know I messed up, but I need you to hear my side.
