SCENE 1: A LOVE HE CAN NO LONGER HIDE
EXT. CITY PARK — LATE AFTERNOON
The golden sunlight falls across the peaceful park. A gentle breeze moves through the trees as Amber stands near a wooden bench, looking at her phone.
Chadwick approaches slowly. He has rehearsed what he wants to say a hundred times, but now that he is standing in front of her, the words seem impossible to speak.
Amber looks up and smiles politely.
AMBER
Hey, Chadwick. You wanted to talk to me about something?
CHADWICK
Yeah. There's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time.
AMBER
Okay. What's going on? You look nervous.
Chadwick gives a small, uncertain smile. He looks down at the ground, gathering his courage.
CHADWICK
I'm nervous because this isn't easy for me. I've been keeping these feelings inside for so long, and every time I try to tell you, I lose my courage.
Amber's smile slowly fades. She realizes that Chadwick is serious.
AMBER
You can tell me anything, Chadwick. I'm listening.
Chadwick takes a deep breath and looks directly into her eyes.
CHADWICK
Amber, I love you.
The words hang between them.
For a moment, neither of them speaks. Chadwick waits, hoping to see happiness on her face, but Amber looks surprised and uncertain.
CHADWICK
I know this might be unexpected, but my feelings for you are real. Every time I see you, my day becomes better. Every time you smile at me, I find a reason to smile too.
He pauses, his voice becoming softer.
CHADWICK
I've tried to convince myself that these feelings would disappear, but they never did. I don't know when it happened or how it happened. I just know that somewhere along the way, you became very important to me.
Amber looks away, struggling to find the right words.
Chadwick notices her silence, but he continues speaking because he has carried this secret for too long.
CHADWICK
I'm not asking you to give me an answer immediately. I just wanted you to know the truth. I love you, Amber. I really do.
Amber lowers her eyes.
She already knows what she must say, but she wishes there were a gentler way to say it.

SCENE 2: THE ANSWER THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
EXT. CITY PARK — CONTINUOUS
Amber takes a slow breath and turns toward Chadwick.
AMBER
Chadwick, you're a good person. You've always treated me kindly, and I never wanted to hurt you.
Chadwick's expression changes.
CHADWICK
Then why do you look like you're about to say goodbye?
Amber presses her lips together. She cannot pretend that she feels something she doesn't.
AMBER
Because I need to be honest with you.
Chadwick stands completely still.
CHADWICK
Okay. Be honest. Whatever it is, I want to hear it from you.
Amber looks into his eyes.
AMBER
I'm sorry, Chadwick. I don't feel the same way about you.
His hopeful expression disappears.
For a few seconds, he says nothing. He had imagined many possible answers, but hearing the truth from Amber feels different from every fear he had prepared himself for.
CHADWICK
You don't love me?
Amber shakes her head gently.
AMBER
Not in the way you love me.
Chadwick swallows hard. His eyes begin to fill with tears, but he tries to keep his composure.
CHADWICK
Is there someone else?
Amber hesitates.
That hesitation tells him more than he wants to know.
CHADWICK
Amber, please. Just tell me.
She finally speaks.
AMBER
I love Bmdave.
Chadwick stares at her.
The name seems to echo inside his mind. He looks away, trying to understand how the person he loves can have feelings for someone else.
CHADWICK
Bmdave?
AMBER
Yes. I have feelings for him, Chadwick. I didn't plan for this to happen, but I can't lie about what is in my heart.
Chadwick lets out a short, painful breath.
CHADWICK
So while I was hoping that one day you might love me, you were falling in love with someone else?
Amber looks genuinely sorry.
AMBER
I never wanted you to feel this way. I didn't know you were carrying such strong feelings for me.
CHADWICK
Maybe you didn't know. But I did. I knew every time I waited for your messages. I knew every time I wanted to tell you something before telling anyone else. I knew every time I saw you and hoped that you might look at me differently.
His voice begins to crack.
CHADWICK
I kept thinking that maybe, someday, I would mean as much to you as you meant to me.
Amber has no answer that can make the moment easier.
AMBER
I'm sorry.
Chadwick looks down, blinking rapidly as tears begin to fall.
CHADWICK
I wish you hadn't told me that you love someone else. But I know you had to be honest.
He tries to smile, but his expression breaks before he can manage it.

SCENE 3: CHADWICK BREAKS DOWN
EXT. CITY PARK — BESIDE THE WOODEN BENCH — MOMENTS LATER
Chadwick turns away from Amber.
He wipes his eyes with his sleeve, hoping to hide how deeply her words have affected him. But the tears keep coming.
Amber takes one small step toward him.
AMBER
Chadwick…
He raises his hand gently, asking her to give him a moment.
CHADWICK
Please. Just give me a second.
His voice is barely audible.
He sits on the wooden bench and bends forward, resting his elbows on his knees. His shoulders tremble as he tries to control his emotions.
Amber stands nearby, unsure whether approaching him would comfort him or make the situation more painful.
CHADWICK
I don't understand why this hurts so much.
He pauses, struggling to speak.
CHADWICK
I knew you might say no. I told myself that I would accept it if you didn't feel the same way. I thought I was prepared for this.
He shakes his head.
CHADWICK
But I wasn't prepared to hear you say that you love Bmdave.
Amber sits at the other end of the bench, leaving enough space between them.
AMBER
I know this is painful. I wish I could make it easier for you.
Chadwick looks at her through tear-filled eyes.
CHADWICK
You can't make it easier by pretending to love me. I know that.
He wipes his face again.
CHADWICK
That's what makes this so difficult. I can't even be angry with you for telling me the truth.
Amber looks down at her hands.
AMBER
You have every right to feel hurt. I should have realized that my friendship with you might mean something different to you.
CHADWICK
Your friendship meant everything to me. Maybe I made it mean more than it ever did to you.
He looks toward the distant trees.
CHADWICK
Whenever something good happened, I wanted to share it with you. Whenever I had a bad day, talking to you made me feel better. I started imagining a future where we would always be there for each other.
His voice breaks again.
CHADWICK
I never realized that I was building that future alone.
Amber's eyes become watery.
AMBER
Chadwick, I never wanted you to feel that you were unimportant to me.
CHADWICK
You were never unimportant to me, Amber. That's the problem. You became so important that I forgot to protect my own heart.
A quiet silence settles over the bench.
The park continues as usual around them. Children play in the distance, people walk along the paths, and the sunlight slowly begins to fade.
But for Chadwick, everything feels different.

SCENE 4: AMBER TRIES TO COMFORT HIM
EXT. CITY PARK — LATE AFTERNOON
Amber moves slightly closer.
AMBER
Can I say something?
Chadwick nods without looking at her.
AMBER
You deserve someone who loves you with the same honesty and care that you give to others. Someone who doesn't leave you wondering whether you're important to them.
Chadwick lets out a quiet, bitter laugh.
CHADWICK
I know. Everyone says that when the person you love doesn't love you back.
AMBER
I'm not saying it just to make you feel better.
CHADWICK
Then what am I supposed to do? How do I look at you tomorrow and act like this conversation never happened?
Amber considers her answer carefully.
AMBER
You don't have to pretend that nothing happened. You can take some time away from me if that's what you need.
Chadwick finally turns toward her.
CHADWICK
And if I can't be your friend right now?
AMBER
I'll understand.
CHADWICK
What if seeing you reminds me of everything I wanted and couldn't have?
Amber's expression softens.
AMBER
Then you should give yourself time. I won't blame you for needing distance.
Chadwick studies her face. Even now, he notices the little things that made him fall for her: the concern in her eyes, the gentleness in her voice, and the way she tries to choose her words carefully.
It hurts to realize that those qualities do not mean she is in love with him.
CHADWICK
I wish I could turn these feelings off like a switch.
AMBER
I know you do.
CHADWICK
I wish I could stop caring about you so quickly.
AMBER
You don't have to stop caring overnight. Just don't forget to care about yourself, too.
Chadwick looks down again.
For the first time during their conversation, he allows himself to stop pretending that he is fine.
He cries quietly while Amber sits beside him, offering him the sp
