Cameron’s House — Late Afternoon
The house is unusually quiet. Brooke sits in the living room, looking down at her phone. She has been staying at Cameron’s house for the past few days, trying to keep away from home and avoid dealing with everything waiting for her there.
Cameron’s sister walks into the room. She notices Brooke’s phone lying nearby. Her expression changes. She picks it up and looks through the contacts, trying to figure out how to reach Brooke’s family. After a moment, she finds Larry’s number. She takes a breath. Then she makes the call.
Larry’s House — Continuous
Larry is going about his day when his phone suddenly rings. He looks at the unfamiliar number. For a second, he hesitates. Then he answers.
LARRY: Hello? Who is this?
There is a brief pause on the other end. Cameron’s sister sounds serious.
CAMERON’S SISTER: Is this Larry?
LARRY: Yes. Who’s calling?
Cameron’s sister looks toward Brooke before speaking.
CAMERON’S SISTER: I’m calling because your daughter has been staying at our house for the past two or three days.
Larry immediately freezes. His expression changes from confusion to concern.
LARRY: What?
He sits up straight.
LARRY: My daughter has been at your house?
CAMERON’S SISTER: Yes. She has been here for two or three days.
Larry stares ahead, trying to process what he has just heard.
CAMERON’S SISTER: Please come and take her home. I can’t keep her here anymore. If you don’t come get her, I’m going to have to ask her to leave.
Larry remains silent for a moment. He had no idea Brooke was staying anywhere else. His voice becomes more serious.
LARRY: Wait… who exactly is this?
Cameron’s sister takes a breath.
CAMERON’S SISTER: I’m Cameron’s sister.
Larry suddenly recognizes the voice. His eyes widen.
LARRY: Cameron’s sister?
He stands up immediately.
LARRY: How did Brooke even end up at your house?
Cameron’s sister glances toward Brooke again.
CAMERON’S SISTER: I don’t know everything that happened. I just know she has been here for days, and I need you to come get her.
Larry rubs his forehead. The situation is becoming more serious than he expected.
LARRY: Okay. I’m coming.
He ends the call.
Larry’s House — Moments Later
Larry stands there holding his phone. He looks completely stunned. Brooke has been gone for days, and he never knew where she was. Now he finally knows. But the news leaves him with even more questions.
Why did Brooke leave? Why did she go to Cameron’s house? And why had she stayed there for so long without telling him?
Larry grabs his keys from the table. He moves quickly toward the front door.
Driveway — Continuous
Larry rushes outside. He unlocks his car, gets inside, and starts the engine. His hands tighten around the steering wheel. For a moment, he sits there thinking about the phone call. Then he pulls out of the driveway. He is heading straight toward Cameron’s house. His only goal is to bring Brooke home.
On the Road — Evening
Larry drives through the streets, his mind racing. He keeps replaying Cameron’s sister’s words in his head. Brooke had been staying there for two or three days. Larry had been completely unaware. He looks ahead at the road. His expression is filled with worry and confusion.
LARRY: What is going on with Brooke?
He continues driving. Every passing minute makes him more anxious to see his daughter.
Cameron’s House — Same Time
Back at Cameron’s house, Brooke is still sitting quietly. She has no idea that Larry is already on his way. Cameron’s sister puts Brooke’s phone down. She looks at Brooke with a serious expression.
CAMERON’S SISTER: Your dad is coming to get you.
Brooke looks up immediately. Her expression changes.
BROOKE: You called my dad?
Cameron’s sister nods.
CAMERON’S SISTER: Yes. He needs to know where you are.
Brooke becomes quiet. She looks toward the floor. The reality of the situation begins to sink in. Larry now knows where she has been. And he is coming to take her home.
Larry Arrives
A car finally turns onto the street. Larry sees Cameron’s house in the distance. He slows down as he approaches. His expression is still tense. He pulls into the driveway and turns off the engine. For a moment, he remains inside the car. He takes a deep breath. Then he opens the door and steps out.
Larry walks toward the front door. He is still shocked by everything that has happened. But more than anything, he wants to see Brooke.
The Front Door
Larry knocks firmly. Cameron’s sister walks toward the door. She opens it. Larry looks at her. For a moment, neither of them says anything. Then Larry speaks.
LARRY: Where’s Brooke?
Cameron’s sister points toward the living room.
CAMERON’S SISTER: She’s inside.
Larry nods and walks in. His eyes immediately find Brooke. Brooke looks up. Their eyes meet. Larry’s expression softens slightly, but the concern is still obvious on his face. He walks toward her.
LARRY: Brooke… why didn’t you tell me where you were?
Brooke remains silent. Larry looks at her, waiting for an answer. The room becomes quiet. Cameron’s sister watches from a short distance away. The tension between father and daughter is unmistakable. Larry finally takes a breath.
LARRY: Come on. We’re going home.
Brooke slowly stands. Larry waits for her. After everything that happened, he finally knows where she is. But as they prepare to leave, Larry realizes that getting Brooke home is only the beginning. There are still many questions waiting for answers. And tonight, father and daughter will finally have to face them.
Finding her was only the answer to one question — the harder ones were still waiting in the silence of the car ride home.
