Isaiah’s House — Late Afternoon
The neighborhood is quiet. Sharra walks toward Isaiah’s house with a serious expression on her face. She stops at the front door, takes a breath, and knocks. A few seconds later, the door opens. Isaiah stands there, looking surprised to see her.
ISAIAH: What are you doing here, Sharra?
Sharra looks directly at him. She can tell something is wrong.
SHARRA: I came because we need to talk about Brooke.
Isaiah says nothing. He slowly looks away. Sharra steps closer.
SHARRA: Isaiah, please listen to me.
She pauses, trying to keep her voice calm.
SHARRA: You know Brooke is hurt. You know everything that happened between you two has broken her heart.
Isaiah remains silent. His expression gives nothing away. Sharra takes a deep breath.
SHARRA: Please go to Brooke and apologize to her.
Isaiah finally looks at Sharra. But he still doesn’t respond.
SHARRA: I’m not asking you to do anything impossible. Just go talk to her. Tell her you’re sorry.
Isaiah looks down at the floor. The silence becomes uncomfortable. Sharra continues.
SHARRA: And please tell Brooke that she should go back to college.
Isaiah looks confused.
ISAIAH: Why are you telling me to do that?
SHARRA: Because she shouldn’t give up her future because of what happened between you two.
Sharra’s voice becomes emotional.
SHARRA: She has worked hard for her college. She has dreams, Isaiah. Don’t let this situation destroy everything she’s built.
Isaiah stares at her. Still nothing. Sharra waits for an answer. Seconds pass. But Isaiah remains completely silent.
Isaiah Refuses to Respond
Sharra becomes frustrated.
SHARRA: Isaiah, I’m talking to you.
Isaiah looks toward the living room. He doesn’t say a word.
SHARRA: At least tell me that you’ll talk to Brooke.
Isaiah remains silent.
SHARRA: Why won’t you say anything?
Isaiah finally speaks, but his voice is quiet.
ISAIAH: I don’t know what you want me to say.
Sharra looks at him in disbelief.
SHARRA: I want you to do the right thing.
Isaiah looks away again.
SHARRA: Brooke deserves an apology.
A sudden voice comes from behind them.
ISAIAH’S MOM: What’s going on here?
Sharra turns around. Isaiah’s mom is standing in the hallway. Her expression immediately changes when she hears Brooke’s name.
ISAIAH’S MOM: Why are you talking to my son about Brooke?
Sharra tries to remain respectful.
SHARRA: I’m only trying to help.
Isaiah’s mom walks closer.
ISAIAH’S MOM: Help with what?
SHARRA: I’m asking Isaiah to apologize to Brooke.
Isaiah’s mom’s face becomes tense.
ISAIAH’S MOM: That is none of your business.
Sharra looks shocked.
SHARRA: I’m not trying to cause trouble. I just think Brooke deserves some respect.
Isaiah’s mom steps closer.
ISAIAH’S MOM: You need to stop involving yourself in my son’s life.
Sharra looks toward Isaiah. She expects him to say something. But Isaiah stays quiet. That silence hurts more than anything.
The Confrontation
Sharra turns back toward Isaiah’s mom.
SHARRA: I’m only asking him to make things right.
ISAIAH’S MOM: I said enough!
The room suddenly falls silent. Sharra takes a small step back.
SHARRA: Okay, but please understand—
Isaiah’s mom interrupts her.
ISAIAH’S MOM: No. You don’t get to come into my house and tell my son what he should do.
Sharra looks at Isaiah again.
SHARRA: Isaiah, please say something.
Isaiah stays frozen. He doesn’t defend Sharra. He doesn’t defend Brooke. He simply stands there. Sharra’s expression falls.
SHARRA: I came here because I thought you would understand.
Isaiah looks down.
ISAIAH: Sharra…
Before he can finish, his mother steps forward. She grabs Sharra by the hand and pulls her toward the doorway.
SHARRA: Wait! What are you doing?
ISAIAH’S MOM: You’re leaving.
Sharra tries to steady herself.
SHARRA: I didn’t come here to fight with anyone!
ISAIAH’S MOM: Then you shouldn’t have come here telling my son what to do.
She leads Sharra outside and pushes her away from the doorway. Sharra stumbles a step but quickly regains her balance. The door remains open for a moment. Sharra looks back at Isaiah.
Outside the House
Sharra’s eyes fill with emotion. She looks at Isaiah one last time.
SHARRA: You could have at least said something.
Isaiah stands inside the doorway. He looks conflicted. But he still doesn’t answer.
SHARRA: I was only trying to help Brooke.
Isaiah’s mom steps between them.
ISAIAH’S MOM: Go home, Sharra.
The door closes. Sharra stands alone outside. For a moment, she simply stares at the closed door. She wipes her face and takes a deep breath.
Inside the house, Isaiah remains silent. His mother’s anger has left the room tense and uncomfortable. Isaiah looks toward the door. He knows Sharra came with good intentions. But he also knows he didn’t have the courage to stand up for her.
Sharra Walks Away
Sharra slowly walks down the driveway. Her footsteps are quiet. She looks back at the house one final time. Her expression shows disappointment rather than anger. She had gone there hoping Isaiah would understand Brooke’s pain. Instead, she was forced out of the house.
Sharra keeps walking. Meanwhile, Isaiah stands behind the closed door, lost in thought. He finally realizes that staying silent may have made everything worse.
The house becomes quiet again. But the situation is far from over. Brooke is still waiting for an apology. Sharra has walked away hurt. And Isaiah must now decide whether he will finally stand up and make things right.
