Location: A luxury business office. Late afternoon.

Amber sat at a conference table with two business partners, reviewing an important agreement. Dave had called twice, but she ignored his calls.

BUSINESS PARTNER

Amber, are you certain you have the authority to approve this deal today?

AMBER

I’ve reviewed the proposal. I’m confident this deal will benefit everyone involved.

BUSINESS PARTNER

What about Dave? Doesn’t he need to approve a transaction this large?

AMBER

Dave doesn’t need to be involved in every decision I make. I’ll explain everything later.

Amber signed the agreement. Moments later, Dave called again.

DAVE

AMBER

DAVE

AMBER

DAVE

He immediately called Omni, his assistant.

OMNI

Hello, Dave. What do you need?

DAVE

Check a business agreement approved today. Amber’s name is on it. Did you know anything?

OMNI

No. She never discussed a new agreement with me.

DAVE

Get every email and every financial detail connected to this agreement.

OMNI

I’ll get everything together immediately.

Dave reviewed the agreement again and noticed a clause that could expose the company to even greater losses if the deal failed.

SCENE 3 — AMBER RETURNS HOME

Location: Dave and Amber’s house. Evening.

Amber walked inside and found Dave waiting with the signed agreement in his hand.

AMBER

DAVE

AMBER

DAVE

AMBER

DAVE

AMBER

AMBER

And what? Wait for you to approve every little thing in my life?

DAVE

AMBER

I’m tired of being treated like I don’t know anything. This is my life. Just because I live with you doesn’t mean you control every decision I make. I have the right to handle my own business.

DAVE

You think you can do whatever you want and then speak to me like that?

AMBER

I think I deserve to be treated with respect.

Dave suddenly loses control and begins hitting Amber. She recoils in shock, unable to believe the argument has turned into violence.

AMBER

Dave! Stop! What are you doing?

Amber manages to move away from him. The room falls silent.

AMBER

Don’t touch me again! You made that choice yourself. Don’t blame me for what you did.

The business disagreement had become something far more serious. Amber no longer looked at Dave the way she had before.

SCENE 5 — THE SILENCE AFTER THE STORM

DAVE

You should have listened to me. None of this would have happened if you’d told me about the deal.

AMBER

Don’t blame me for what you did. You had no right to hurt me.

DAVE

I’m trying to explain why I was angry.

AMBER

Amber picked up her handbag and headed for the door.

DAVE

DAVE

Are you saying someone changed the agreement?

OMNI

I’m saying we need to investigate. The final document was uploaded through an unfamiliar business account.

DAVE

Whose account?

OMNI

I’m still checking. But the account sent a message shortly before the agreement was signed.

“Once Amber signs, the next stage can begin.”

Before Dave could respond, a new notification appeared. Someone had requested access to the original agreement through an account connected to a person Dave knew.

Amber went silent.

Someone is trying to hide something.

OMNI

There’s another problem. The agreement includes a deadline. If the conditions aren’t met, the company could face additional financial consequences.

DAVE

When is the deadline?

OMNI

Tomorrow afternoon.

Dave tried calling Amber, but she didn’t answer. Then an unknown number sent him a photograph of Amber sitting across from someone at the café.

UNKNOWN MESSAGE

Yes. And Dave has started asking questions.

The person opened a locked cabinet. Inside were several folders, each marked with a different name. One said AMBER. Another said DAVE.

A third folder contained a name that could change everything. Before the camera could reveal it, the phone rang again.

UNKNOWN VOICE

What do you mean, Amber already knows?

The person’s expression turned cold.

UNKNOWN VOICE

Then we have a bigger problem than Dave.

The lights went out.
