BROOKE’S SECRET NIGHT ENDS IN TRAGEDY AS BETHANY DISCOVERS HER HEARTBREAKING PREGNANCY LOSS!
Brooke clutched her stomach as another wave of pain swept through her body. Tears streamed down her cheeks while she struggled to remain standing. Her phone slipped from her trembling fingers and landed on the bedroom floor.
Only hours earlier, she had believed that spending time with her new friend would help her escape the arguments, family pressure, and emotional confusion surrounding her life.
Now everything felt different.
The room seemed to spin around her. Brooke reached for the edge of her dresser, breathing unevenly.
BROOKE“No, no, no! Please, something isn’t right. Why is this happening to me?”
She looked toward the bedroom door, terrified that someone might hear her.
Her new friend, Jordan, had left earlier that evening. They had grown close over the past few weeks, and their relationship had become intimate. Brooke had convinced herself that she was finally making her own decisions.
But she had also been hiding something important.
She was pregnant.
And Jordan had no idea.
Her phone suddenly vibrated.
It was a message from Jordan.
Brooke tried to answer, but another sharp wave of pain interrupted her.
BROOKE“Somebody help me. Please!”
Downstairs, Bethany was walking through the hallway when she heard a faint noise coming from Brooke’s room.
At first, she thought Brooke was arguing with someone on the phone.
Then she heard a frightened cry.
BETHANY“Brooke? What’s going on up there?”
No answer.
Bethany climbed the stairs and knocked.
BETHANY“Brooke, open this door. I can hear you!”
Inside, Brooke was sitting on the floor, holding her stomach.
BROOKE“Bethany! Please help me!”
Bethany immediately opened the unlocked door.
The sight stopped her in her tracks.
Brooke was pale, trembling, and struggling to speak.
BETHANY“Oh my goodness! Brooke, what happened? Are you sick?”
Bethany hurried toward her.
BROOKE“My stomach hurts so badly. Something is wrong with my baby!”
Bethany froze.
BETHANY“Your baby? Brooke, what are you talking about?”
Brooke began crying harder.
BROOKE“I’m pregnant, Bethany. I’ve been hiding it. And now I’m scared I’m losing my baby!”
Bethany stared at her in disbelief.
For a moment, all the disagreements between them disappeared.
BETHANY“Listen to me. We are getting you to the hospital right now.”
Bethany immediately called emergency services, then helped Brooke remain comfortable while they waited.
BROOKE“Please don’t tell Larry. He’s going to hate me.”
BETHANY“Brooke, your health matters more than any argument. We can deal with Larry later.”
Brooke grabbed Bethany’s hand.
BROOKE“I made a terrible mistake.”
BETHANY“What mistake, sweetheart?”
Brooke lowered her eyes.
BROOKE“I was with someone tonight. Someone new.”
Bethany’s expression changed.
BETHANY“Someone new? What happened to Isaiah?”
Brooke turned away.
BROOKE“I don’t want to talk about Isaiah!”
BETHANY“Brooke, I’m not trying to fight with you. I’m trying to understand.”
BROOKE“Jordan made me feel like somebody actually cared about me. He listened when everybody else kept telling me what to do.”
Bethany remained silent.
BROOKE“We became intimate tonight. After he left, I started feeling sick. I thought the pain would stop, but it kept getting worse.”
Bethany gently squeezed her hand.
BETHANY“Brooke, you don’t know what caused this. Please don’t blame yourself before the doctors examine you.”
Brooke broke down.
BROOKE“But what if I’ve lost my baby?”
Bethany had no answer.
When the paramedics arrived, Brooke was frightened and exhausted. Bethany accompanied her to the hospital, refusing to leave her side.
During the journey, Brooke whispered the same question repeatedly.
BROOKE“Is my baby going to be okay?”
Bethany held her hand.
BETHANY“We’re going to let the doctors help you. I’m right here.”
At the hospital, medical staff quickly examined Brooke.
Bethany waited outside the examination room, pacing anxiously.
Her phone rang.
Larry.
She stared at his name before answering.
LARRY“Bethany, where are you? And where is Brooke? Neither one of you is answering me!”
BETHANY“Larry, we’re at the hospital.”
Silence.
LARRY“The hospital? What happened?”
BETHANY“Brooke is having complications with her pregnancy.”
LARRY“Her WHAT?”
Bethany closed her eyes.
BETHANY“She’s pregnant, Larry.”
LARRY“Are you telling me my daughter has been hiding a pregnancy from me?”
BETHANY“Yes. But right now, she needs us.”
Larry’s voice grew unsteady.
LARRY“I’m coming.”
Twenty minutes later, Larry rushed through the hospital doors.
LARRY“Where is she? Where’s my daughter?”
Bethany stood up.
BETHANY“She’s still being examined.”
Larry looked devastated.
LARRY“Why didn’t she tell me? I’m her father!”
BETHANY“Because she was afraid of how you’d react.”
Larry stepped backward.
Those words hurt more than he expected.
LARRY“She thinks she can’t come to me when she’s in trouble?”
Bethany’s expression softened.
BETHANY“Larry, she’s been carrying a lot of fear. She needs compassion tonight, not another argument.”
Before Larry could respond, the doctor approached them.
DOCTOR“Are you Brooke’s family?”
Both nodded immediately.
LARRY“Please tell me my daughter is okay.”
The doctor spoke gently.
DOCTOR“Brooke is stable, but I’m very sorry. Our examination has confirmed that she has experienced a miscarriage.”
Bethany covered her mouth.
Larry stared at the doctor.
LARRY“No. That can’t be right.”
DOCTOR“I’m sorry. We know this is difficult news. We’ll continue monitoring her and provide the care and support she needs.”
BETHANY“Did something she did cause this?”
DOCTOR“Most miscarriages are not caused by anything a person did. We cannot conclude that her relationship tonight caused the pregnancy loss.”
Larry lowered himself into a chair.
For the first time that evening, he had nothing to say.
Inside the hospital room, Brooke stared at the ceiling.
When Bethany entered, Brooke immediately searched her face.
BROOKE“Bethany? What did the doctor say?”
Bethany pulled a chair beside her.
BETHANY“Brooke, sweetheart, I’m so sorry.”
Brooke’s eyes filled with tears.
BROOKE“No. Please don’t say it.”
Bethany held her hand.
BETHANY“The baby didn’t survive.”
Brooke turned her face toward the window.
BROOKE“I never even got to meet my baby.”
Bethany’s voice trembled.
BETHANY“I know this hurts. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.”
Brooke began sobbing.
BROOKE“I was so confused about everything. I didn’t know what kind of mother I would be. But I loved my baby, Bethany. I really did.”
Bethany moved closer.
BETHANY“I believe you.”
Just then, Larry appeared in the doorway.
Brooke immediately stiffened.
BROOKE“Daddy?”
Larry slowly approached her bed.
LARRY“Brooke, why didn’t you tell me?”
She looked down.
BROOKE“Because I thought you’d be disappointed.”
Larry’s eyes filled with tears.
LARRY“I’m hurt that you felt you had to hide this. But I’m not here to punish you.”
Brooke looked up in surprise.
LARRY“You’re my daughter. Nothing changes that.”
He sat beside her.
BROOKE“I’m sorry, Daddy.”
LARRY“You don’t have to apologize for losing your baby.”
For several moments, nobody spoke.
Then Brooke’s phone began ringing on the bedside table.
Jordan’s name appeared on the screen.
Larry noticed it.
LARRY“Who’s Jordan?”
Brooke quickly reached for the phone.
BROOKE“Please, Daddy. Don’t answer that.”
Bethany looked at Brooke.
BETHANY“Is that the friend you told me about?”
Larry turned toward Bethany.
LARRY“What friend?”
Brooke’s breathing became uneven.
BROOKE“Bethany, please!”
But Larry had already seen the fear in his daughter’s eyes.
LARRY“Brooke, what aren’t you telling me?”
Before she could respond, a new message appeared on the screen.
Brooke stared at the message.
Her expression changed from sadness to alarm.
BROOKE“What does he mean?”
Bethany leaned forward.
BETHANY“Brooke, do you know what he’s talking about?”
Brooke slowly shook her head.
Another message arrived.
Larry stood up.
LARRY“Why would this boy be hiding from us?”
Brooke’s hands began trembling again.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the hospital room door.
A nurse stepped inside.
NURSE“Excuse me. There’s a young man outside asking to see Brooke. He says his name is Jordan.”
Brooke looked toward the doorway.
BROOKE“Tell him I don’t want to see him.”
The nurse hesitated.
NURSE“He says he has something important to explain.”
Larry turned toward the hallway, his expression hardening.
LARRY“Then he can explain it to me.”
But before Larry reached the door, Brooke grabbed his arm.
BROOKE“Daddy, wait! There’s something about Jordan I haven’t told you either.”
Larry slowly turned back.
LARRY“What is it, Brooke?”
Brooke looked at Bethany, then at the closed door.
Her voice was barely audible.
BROOKE“Jordan knew I was pregnant before tonight.”
Bethany froze.
BETHANY“But you told me he didn’t know!”
Brooke swallowed nervously.
BROOKE“I lied because I was scared. And now I think he’s hiding something from me.”
At that exact moment, the door opened.
Jordan stood in the entrance, his face tense.
He looked directly at Brooke.
JORDAN“Brooke, before your father asks me anything, there’s something you need to know about the night we first met.”
Larry stepped between Jordan and the hospital bed.
LARRY“You have ten seconds to explain why you’re here.”
Jordan looked past him toward Brooke.
JORDAN“Because what Brooke believes about me isn’t the whole truth.”
Brooke’s eyes widened.
BROOKE“Jordan… what are you talking about?”
Jordan took a folded piece of paper from his jacket.
Bethany recognized the hospital’s name printed across the top.
BETHANY“Why do you have that?”
Jordan hesitated.
Then he placed the paper on the table.
JORDAN“Because I came to this hospital before Brooke did.”
Brooke stared at him in disbelief.
BROOKE“Why?”
Jordan’s voice dropped.
JORDAN“Because someone called me this morning and told me something about your pregnancy.”
Larry reached for the paper.
But Jordan suddenly covered it with his hand.
JORDAN“Mr. Larry, before you read that, you need to understand something.”
Brooke struggled to sit upright.
BROOKE“Stop talking around me! What did they tell you?”
Jordan looked directly into her eyes.
JORDAN“They told me something that changes everything you think you know about me.”
Bethany slowly stepped closer to the table.
Larry pulled the paper from beneath Jordan’s hand.
And the moment he read the first line, his face went completely pale.
