Brooke’s Positive Pregnancy Test
A Family Drama Nobody Saw Coming
SCENE 1 — THE RETURN HOME
INT. BETHANY AND LARRY’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The front door slowly opens.
Brooke walks inside with Bethany. She looks emotionally exhausted, and her eyes reveal that something has been bothering her since she left Philly.
Bethany notices her silence immediately.
BETHANY
“Brooke, are you okay?”
Brooke looks down and avoids eye contact.
BETHANY
“You’ve been quiet ever since we left. Did you get what you went to Philly for?”
Brooke takes a deep breath. She knows she cannot hide the truth anymore.
BROOKE
“Bethany… I took a pregnancy test.”
Bethany freezes.
BETHANY
“What?”
Brooke slowly looks up.
BROOKE
“It was positive.”
Bethany sits down, trying to process the shocking news.
BETHANY
“Are you sure?”
BROOKE
“I took the test because I was scared. Then I saw the result.”
Bethany looks at Brooke with concern.
BETHANY
“Does Larry know?”
Brooke shakes her head.
BROOKE
“Not yet.”
Bethany takes a deep breath.
BETHANY
“You need to tell him.”
Brooke looks toward the hallway.
BROOKE
“I’m scared of what he’s going to say.”
BETHANY
“Whatever happens, you need to be honest with him.”
SCENE 2 — LARRY HEARS THE NEWS
INT. LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
Larry walks into the room and immediately notices the serious expressions on Bethany and Brooke’s faces.
LARRY
“What’s going on?”
Brooke looks at Bethany. Bethany gives her a small nod.
Brooke gathers her courage.
BROOKE
“Larry… I need to tell you something.”
Larry sits down.
LARRY
“Okay. What is it?”
Brooke’s voice begins to shake.
BROOKE
“My pregnancy test came back positive.”
Larry stares at her in disbelief.
For a few seconds, nobody says anything.
Larry slowly stands.
LARRY
“What did you just say?”
BROOKE
“The test was positive.”
Larry turns toward Bethany and then back toward Brooke.
His expression becomes increasingly angry.
LARRY
“Brooke, I sent you to Philly, and now you’re coming back with this situation involving Isaiah?”
Brooke begins crying.
BROOKE
“Larry, please…”
LARRY
“No! You don’t understand what this means!”
He walks across the room, trying to control his emotions.
LARRY
“I trusted you. And now you’ve left me unable to show my face to anyone!”
Bethany steps forward.
BETHANY
“Larry, calm down. She’s already scared.”
Larry looks at Bethany.
LARRY
“How am I supposed to calm down after hearing something like this?”
SCENE 3 — THE CONFRONTATION
INT. LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS
Brooke stands in the middle of the room, tears running down her face.
BROOKE
“I didn’t want this to happen.”
Larry looks at her.
LARRY
“But it happened.”
Brooke slowly nods.
BROOKE
“I know.”
LARRY
“And now you expect me to just accept everything?”
BROOKE
“No. I just want you to listen to me.”
Larry turns away.
LARRY
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
Bethany looks at Larry.
BETHANY
“Larry, whatever happened in Philly, Brooke is still part of this family.”
Larry remains silent.
Then he turns toward Brooke.
LARRY
“Go upstairs.”
Brooke looks confused.
BROOKE
“Why?”
LARRY
“Pack your things.”
Brooke’s face drops.
BROOKE
“What?”
LARRY
“You heard me.”
Bethany immediately steps between them.
BETHANY
“Larry, don’t do this.”
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY
“I need space.”
Brooke looks at him through her tears.
BROOKE
“Are you telling me to leave?”
Larry pauses before answering.
LARRY
“Yes.”
SCENE 4 — PACKING HER BELONGINGS
INT. BROOKE’S BEDROOM — EVENING
Brooke enters her bedroom and quietly closes the door.
She looks around at everything she has known as home.
Her photos are still on the wall.
Her clothes are still in the closet.
But suddenly, everything feels different.
Brooke begins packing her belongings into a suitcase.
Her hands tremble as she folds her clothes.
BROOKE
“I can’t believe this is happening.”
Bethany appears at the doorway.
BETHANY
“Brooke…”
Brooke turns around.
BROOKE
“He really wants me gone.”
Bethany walks toward her.
BETHANY
“He’s angry right now.”
BROOKE
“But he told me to leave.”
Bethany sits beside her.
BETHANY
“I know.”
Brooke closes her suitcase.
BROOKE
“Where am I supposed to go?”
Bethany looks at her with compassion.
BETHANY
“We’ll figure something out.”
Brooke wipes her tears.
BROOKE
“Larry doesn’t want me here.”
BETHANY
“That doesn’t mean you have nobody.”
SCENE 5 — THE GOODBYE
INT. LIVING ROOM — NIGHT
Brooke slowly walks downstairs with her suitcase.
Larry stands near the front door.
He looks at her but says nothing.
Bethany follows Brooke.
BETHANY
“Larry, please reconsider.”
Larry remains silent.
Brooke grips the handle of her suitcase.
BROOKE
“I’m sorry.”
Larry finally looks at her.
LARRY
“I’m too angry to talk right now.”
Brooke nods.
BROOKE
“I understand.”
She opens the front door.
Before stepping outside, Brooke turns around and looks at the house one final time.
BROOKE
“I never wanted things to end like this.”
Larry says nothing.
Brooke walks outside.
The door slowly closes behind her.
SCENE 6 — BROOKE HAS NOWHERE TO GO
EXT. HOUSE — NIGHT
Brooke stands outside with her suitcase.
She looks back at the house through tear-filled eyes.
For the first time, she realizes that she truly has nowhere to go.
She takes out her phone.
Brooke scrolls through her contacts.
Her finger stops on one name.
SHARRA
Brooke stares at the name.
She considers calling but hesitates.
BROOKE
“Would she even want me there?”
She locks her phone.
Then she looks down at her suitcase.
Brooke wipes her tears and takes a deep breath.
She knows she has to make a decision.
SCENE 7 — BETHANY CONFRONTS LARRY
INT. LIVING ROOM — SAME TIME
Bethany stands near the window, watching Brooke disappear down the street.
She turns around and looks at Larry.
BETHANY
“You just sent her out there when she needs her family the most.”
Larry looks toward the closed front door.
His anger has begun to fade, leaving uncertainty behind.
LARRY
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, Bethany.”
Bethany takes a deep breath.
BETHANY
“Then think before it’s too late.”
Larry remains silent.
He slowly sits down.
For the first time, he realizes that Brooke is actually gone.
The house suddenly feels empty.
SCENE 8 — THE BIG QUESTION
EXT. QUIET STREET — NIGHT
Brooke walks alone with her suitcase.
The street is quiet.
She stops beneath a streetlight and looks at her phone again.
This time, she opens Sharra’s contact.
Her finger moves toward the call button.
She takes a deep breath.
BROOKE
“Maybe she’ll understand.”
Brooke is about to press the button.
Suddenly, the screen fades to black.
