SCENE 1: A DISTANCE THAT HURTS

INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — DAY

The house is quiet, but the tension between Larry and Bethany is impossible to ignore. Bethany walks toward Larry, hoping to repair their relationship. However, Larry refuses to look at her and moves away.

Larry, can we please talk? Something has changed between us, and I don’t understand why you’re treating me this way.

Bethany, I don’t want to have this conversation right now. Just give me some space.

Bethany’s smile disappears. She feels as though her own husband is becoming a stranger.

You’ve been saying that for days! Every time I come near you, you push me away. Is there another woman in your life?

Larry turns around angrily.

Don’t start making accusations without knowing anything!

Bethany stares at him, desperate for an honest answer. Larry’s silence only makes her suspicions stronger.

SCENE 2: THE ARGUMENT EXPLODES

INT. LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER

Bethany takes another step toward Larry, hoping he will finally explain what is happening. Instead, he becomes even more irritated.

I’m your wife, Larry! I deserve to know why you suddenly don’t want me around.

I’ve had enough of these questions! Stop following me around and give me some peace!

His harsh words leave Bethany deeply hurt.

You don’t have to humiliate me just because I’m trying to save our marriage!

Maybe if you stopped questioning everything I do, we wouldn’t keep arguing!

Larry grabs his keys and heads toward the front door. Bethany follows him, hoping he will change his mind.

Where are you going? Larry, please don’t walk away from me again!

I’m leaving. I need to get away from this argument.

The door slams shut. Bethany stands alone, staring at the empty doorway.

What is happening to us? Why won’t he tell me the truth?

SCENE 3: BETHANY’S GROWING SUSPICION

INT. KITCHEN — LATE AFTERNOON

Hours pass, but Larry still hasn’t returned. Bethany tries to keep herself busy with household chores, yet her thoughts constantly return to him.

Finally, she picks up her phone and calls Larry. The phone rings repeatedly, but he doesn’t answer.

He’s deliberately ignoring me. Why won’t he answer his phone? What could he possibly be hiding?

She walks toward the window and looks outside, hoping to see his car approaching. The street remains quiet.

Suddenly, a knock echoes through the house. Bethany turns toward the front door, wondering if Larry has finally returned.

SCENE 4: THE SHOCKING ARRIVAL

INT. FRONT ENTRANCE — EVENING

Bethany walks to the door and unlocks it. The moment she opens it, her expression changes completely.

Larry stands outside, but a young woman is standing beside him. She is dressed elegantly and carries a small handbag.

Larry? Who is this woman? Why did you bring her here?

Larry looks directly at Bethany, his expression cold and serious.

Bethany, we need to talk. This is my wife.

Bethany freezes. She stares at Larry, unable to believe what she has just heard.

Your wife? What are you talking about? I’m your wife, Larry!

She looks at the young woman, then back at Larry, desperately hoping he will admit that this is some terrible joke.

Tell me you’re joking! You can’t seriously be telling me that you married another woman!

I’m not joking, Bethany. I married her, and she’s coming to live here.

The words hit Bethany like a devastating blow. Suddenly, all of Larry’s strange behavior begins to make sense.

He wasn’t simply avoiding her. He had been keeping a life-changing secret from her.

SCENE 5: BETHANY BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS

INT. FRONT ENTRANCE — CONTINUOUS

Bethany struggles to remain standing as tears begin streaming down her face. She grips the doorframe, looking at Larry in disbelief.

I trusted you, Larry! I thought we were having problems, but I never imagined you would do something like this to me!

The new bride looks uncomfortable as she watches the confrontation.

Larry, perhaps we should give her some time to process everything.

Bethany turns toward the young woman.

Did you know about me? Did you know Larry was already married?

I know about the situation, but Larry told me he would explain everything.

Bethany looks back at Larry, her heartbreak turning into anger.

Explain everything? I’m standing right here, Larry! I’m your wife! How could you make such a huge decision without even talking to me?

Bethany, stop shouting. We can discuss this later.

Later? You bring another woman into our home and expect me to wait until later?

Overwhelmed by the shock, Bethany sinks to the floor and begins sobbing. She covers her face with her hands, struggling to accept what has happened.

Why, Larry? What did I do to deserve this? Why couldn’t you just tell me the truth?

Larry stands silently while his new bride watches. Bethany looks up at him through her tears, hoping he will show even a little compassion.

Please tell me this isn’t the end of our marriage. Is there anything left between us?

Larry offers no answer. His silence breaks Bethany’s heart even further.

SCENE 6: TWO WOMEN, ONE HOUSE, AND A BROKEN MARRIAGE

INT. LIVING ROOM — NIGHT

The new bride enters the living room while Larry remains near the doorway. Bethany slowly gets back on her feet and wipes away her tears.

What’s going to happen now? Do you expect me to live here and pretend nothing has changed?

I haven’t decided what happens next. We need to calm down before making any more decisions.

You haven’t decided? Larry, this is my marriage too! You can’t change my entire life without even discussing it with me!

The new bride looks between them, beginning to realize that living in this house may be far more complicated than she expected.

Bethany takes a deep breath. Although she is devastated, something inside her begins to change. She realizes she cannot keep begging Larry to respect her feelings.

I don’t know what you’re planning, Larry, but I’m not going to spend the rest of my life begging you to respect me.

Larry looks at Bethany, surprised by the determination in her voice. For the first time that evening, she refuses to let him control the entire conversation.

The room falls silent. Three people stand beneath the same roof, but none of them knows what tomorrow will bring.
