WELCOME
THE TENSION OVER KAI
SCENE 1 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The house is quiet. Soft daylight spills through the windows while a television plays softly in the background.
Dnisha sits comfortably on the couch, smiling as Kai plays in her arms.
DNISHA
“Look at you, Kai. You’re getting so big.”
Kai reaches for her face. Dnisha gently takes his little hand and kisses it.
DNISHA
“You know you’re my little guy, right?”
Kai giggles.
Dnisha smiles, completely relaxed.
Then—
SFX
KNOCK. KNOCK.
Dnisha looks toward the front door.
The knocking comes again.
The door suddenly opens.
Angelina steps inside. Her expression is serious. She came looking for Anthony.
But the moment her eyes move across the room, she freezes.
She sees Dnisha.
Holding Kai.
Holding Kai.
Angelina’s face immediately changes.
SCENE 2 — THE LIVING ROOM
For a few seconds, nobody says anything.
Angelina stares at Dnisha. Then she looks at Kai. Her jaw tightens.
ANGELINA
“Why are you holding Kai?”
Dnisha slowly stands.
DNISHA
“Angelina, calm down. I was just playing with him.”
Angelina walks toward them. Her footsteps are slow, but determined.
ANGELINA
“I didn’t ask what you were doing.”
DNISHA
“Then what are you asking?”
Angelina stops directly in front of her.
ANGELINA
“I’m asking why you think it’s okay to have my child in your arms.”
THE TENSION RISES…
The room suddenly feels smaller.
DNISHA
“He’s not upset. He was perfectly fine with me.”
ANGELINA
“That’s not the point.”
Angelina reaches for Kai.
ANGELINA
“Give him to me.”
DNISHA
“Angelina—”
ANGELINA
“I said, give him to me.”
Dnisha finally hands Kai over.
Angelina immediately pulls Kai close to her chest and gently kisses his forehead.
ANGELINA
“Are you okay, baby?”
SCENE 3 — THE CONFRONTATION
Angelina turns back toward Dnisha. Her anger is no longer hidden.
ANGELINA
“Don’t ever do that again.”
DNISHA
“Do what?”
ANGELINA
“Act like you can just pick Kai up whenever you want.”
DNISHA
“I wasn’t trying to disrespect you.”
ANGELINA
“Well, you did.”
Silence.
DNISHA
“You’re acting like I did something terrible.”
ANGELINA
“I walked into Anthony’s house and found you holding my son.”
ANGELINA
“What exactly was I supposed to think?”
DNISHA
“You could have asked me instead of coming in here angry.”
ANGELINA
“I shouldn’t have to explain why seeing another woman holding my child makes me uncomfortable.”
DNISHA
“Another woman?”
ANGELINA
“Yes. Another woman.”
SCENE 4 — THE HALLWAY
Angelina walks toward the stairs with Kai in her arms. Her footsteps echo through the house.
DNISHA
“You came here to talk about Kai, but you’re making this personal.”
Angelina stops halfway up the stairs.
ANGELINA
“It became personal when you crossed a line.”
DNISHA
“I didn’t cross anything.”
ANGELINA
“That’s your opinion.”
Dnisha looks frustrated.
DNISHA
“You really think I would hurt him?”
ANGELINA
“No.”
Angelina takes a breath.
ANGELINA
“But trust isn’t something you demand. It’s something you earn.”
Dnisha has no immediate answer.
ANTHONY
“What’s going on?”
SCENE 5 — ANTHONY ENTERS
Anthony slowly walks downstairs. He sees Angelina holding Kai, then looks at Dnisha.
ANTHONY
“Angelina?”
ANGELINA
“I came to talk to you about Kai.”
ANTHONY
“What happened?”
DNISHA
“Nothing happened.”
ANGELINA
“That’s not exactly true.”
Anthony looks between them.
ANTHONY
“Okay. Somebody tell me what’s going on.”
ANGELINA
“I walked in and found Dnisha holding Kai.”
ANTHONY
“And?”
ANGELINA
“And I took him back.”
ANTHONY
“Angelina, Dnisha was just playing with him.”
ANGELINA
“I understand that.”
Angelina steps closer.
ANGELINA
“But I need you to understand something too.”
ANTHONY
“What?”
ANGELINA
“Kai’s safety and boundaries come first.”
SCENE 6 — THE UNFINISHED CONVERSATION
Angelina gently adjusts Kai in her arms and looks directly at Anthony.
ANGELINA
“We need to talk.”
ANTHONY
“About Kai?”
ANGELINA
“About Kai… and everything surrounding him.”
Anthony’s expression becomes concerned.
ANTHONY
“Okay.”
ANGELINA
“Then let’s talk somewhere private.”
Anthony nods.
Angelina and Anthony walk toward the other room.
Dnisha watches them carefully.
Her expression changes. She looks angry. She looks hurt. And there is something else in her eyes—something she isn’t saying.
Angelina disappears down the hallway with Anthony.
Dnisha remains alone in the living room.
DNISHA
“This isn’t over.”
The camera slowly pulls away.
The house falls silent.
But behind closed doors, a much bigger confrontation is about to begin…
