IMAN’S SECOND CHANCE
SCENE 1 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The house is quiet.
Shayla sits on the couch, looking thoughtful. She hears a knock at the door.
She takes a breath and walks toward it.
When she opens the door, she sees Iman standing outside. He looks nervous and serious.
SHAYLA
Iman… what are you doing here?
Iman lowers his eyes for a moment.
IMAN
Shayla, I came because I need to talk to you.
Shayla steps aside and lets him enter. Iman walks into the living room and sits across from her.
There is an uncomfortable silence.
SHAYLA
You said you needed to talk. So tell me what is on your mind.
IMAN
I have been thinking about everything that happened between us.
I know I made mistakes. I know I hurt you, and I know I gave you reasons to stop trusting me.
And honestly, Shayla… I feel very ashamed of the things I did.
SHAYLA
Feeling ashamed now does not erase what happened.
IMAN
I know. I am not here to pretend that my mistakes never happened. I just want you to know that I regret them.
I still care about you, Shayla. I still want you in my life.
SHAYLA
So what exactly are you asking me?
IMAN
I want another chance.
Shayla remains silent.
SCENE 2 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — CONTINUOUS
Shayla stands and walks toward the window. Iman watches her carefully.
SHAYLA
Iman, you cannot simply come back and expect everything to go back to the way it was.
IMAN
I understand.
SHAYLA
Trust takes time.
IMAN
Then I will give you time.
SHAYLA
And if you really want another chance with me, there is one condition.
IMAN
What condition?
SHAYLA
If you want us to start over, you have to marry me.
Iman is surprised. He slowly stands. For a moment, neither of them speaks.
IMAN
You want marriage?
SHAYLA
Yes. I don’t want another relationship that can fall apart whenever things become difficult.
If you truly mean what you’re saying, then show me that you are serious.
IMAN
Shayla, I have made mistakes before. But if marriage is what it takes to prove that I am serious about you, then I accept.
SHAYLA
You’re agreeing?
IMAN
Yes. I will marry you today.
SHAYLA
Today?
IMAN
Today. I don’t want to keep running from my mistakes. I want to make things right.
Shayla becomes emotional.
SCENE 3 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATER
Shayla’s mother enters the living room after hearing the conversation. She looks between Shayla and Iman.
SHAYLA’S MOM
What is going on?
SHAYLA
Mom… Iman wants another chance with me.
SHAYLA’S MOM
And what did you tell him?
SHAYLA
I told him that if he wants me back, he has to marry me.
SHAYLA’S MOM
Marry you?
IMAN
Yes. I know I have made mistakes. I know I disappointed Shayla. But I don’t want to repeat those mistakes.
Shayla’s mother wipes away a tear.
SHAYLA’S MOM
I have watched my daughter go through a lot. If you are serious about her, then you need to understand that marriage is not just words.
IMAN
I understand.
SHAYLA’S MOM
You have to respect her, listen to her, and stand beside her when things become difficult.
IMAN
I promise I will.
SHAYLA
Mom, I know this is sudden. But I believe he understands what he did wrong.
SHAYLA’S MOM
I just want you to be happy.
Shayla becomes emotional and hugs her mother. Iman watches them quietly.

I know saying “I’m sorry” is not enough. So I want my actions to prove that I have changed.
SHAYLA
That’s all I ever wanted.
IMAN
Then I will spend every day proving it.
SHAYLA
I am giving you another chance, Iman.
IMAN
And I will not waste it.
Shayla’s mother watches them from across the room, still emotional.
SHAYLA’S MOM
Maybe this is the beginning of something better for both of you.
SHAYLA
Then let’s do this the right way.
IMAN
Together.
They hold hands.
SCENE 5 — INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE — NIGHT
The family remains together as they begin discussing their future.
SHAYLA’S MOM
I never expected this conversation to end this way.
IMAN
Neither did I.
SHAYLA
Sometimes life gives people another chance when they least expect it.
IMAN
And sometimes you have to be brave enough to accept that chance.
Shayla nods.
The three share a quiet moment.
