WELCOME
INT. WAYNE’S OFFICE – AFTERNOON
The office is quiet, but the tension outside the door is building.
Amber walks quickly down the hallway. Her face is filled with anger and disappointment. She has just heard what Dave had to say, and she can barely control her emotions.
She reaches Wayne’s office and pushes the door open.
Wayne looks up from his desk, surprised by her sudden arrival.
WAYNE
“Amber? What are you doing here?”
Amber closes the door behind her. Her breathing is heavy. She stares at Wayne with a mixture of anger and hurt.
AMBER
“Don’t act like you don’t know why I’m here.”
Wayne slowly stands.
WAYNE
“Okay. Then tell me what happened.”
THE CONFRONTATION
Amber steps closer.
AMBER
“What did you say to Dave?”
Wayne pauses. For a moment, neither of them speaks.
WAYNE
“What are you talking about?”
Amber shakes her head in disbelief.
AMBER
“I talked to Dave. I heard everything.”
Wayne’s expression becomes serious.
WAYNE
“Amber, you need to calm down.”
Amber immediately raises her voice.
AMBER
“Calm down?”
She lets out a frustrated laugh.
AMBER
“You want me to calm down after everything you’ve done?”
Wayne takes a step toward her.
WAYNE
“I didn’t ruin anything for you.”
Amber’s eyes fill with emotion.
AMBER
“You did!”
Her voice cracks.
AMBER
“You have ruined my life!”
TRUST BROKEN
Wayne looks at her, trying to understand how serious the situation has become.
WAYNE
“I never wanted things to get this bad.”
AMBER
“Then why did you talk to Dave?”
Wayne remains silent. Amber notices his hesitation.
AMBER
“Answer me, Wayne.”
WAYNE
“I was trying to make him understand the situation.”
AMBER
“What situation?”
Wayne sighs.
WAYNE
“The truth about what was happening.”
Amber shakes her head.
AMBER
“You had no right.”
She moves closer to him.
AMBER
“You had absolutely no right to get involved in my life and tell Dave things that you knew would hurt me.”
“I TRUSTED YOU”
Wayne tries to keep his voice calm.
WAYNE
“Amber, I was trying to protect you.”
AMBER
“Protect me?”
She points toward herself.
AMBER
“Look at me, Wayne. Does this look like protection?”
Wayne lowers his eyes for a moment.
Amber’s anger is mixed with sadness now.
AMBER
“I trusted you.”
A brief silence fills the office.
AMBER
“And you used that trust against me.”
WAYNE
“That wasn’t my intention.”
AMBER
“But that’s what happened!”
EMOTIONAL BREAKING POINT
Amber turns away and takes a few steps across the room. She tries to control her breathing.
Wayne watches her carefully.
WAYNE
“Amber, listen to me.”
Amber turns around.
AMBER
“No. You listen to me.”
Her voice is firm.
AMBER
“You don’t get to decide what happens in my life.”
Wayne nods slowly.
WAYNE
“I understand.”
AMBER
“No, you don’t.”
She steps toward him again.
AMBER
“If you understood, you would have stayed out of it.”
THE FINAL QUESTION
Wayne tries to explain himself.
WAYNE
“I thought Dave needed to know what was really happening.”
AMBER
“And now what?”
Wayne says nothing.
Amber’s frustration reaches its peak. She grabs the front of Wayne’s collar in anger.
Wayne is caught off guard.
Amber’s eyes are filled with tears and anger.
AMBER
“Tell me what you said to him!”
Wayne looks at her seriously.
WAYNE
“Amber, let go.”
Amber holds on for another moment.
AMBER
“You have no idea what you’ve done!”
AMBER
“You walked into my life, made everything worse, and now you’re standing here acting like nothing happened!”
Wayne carefully tries to create some distance between them.
WAYNE
“I never wanted to hurt you.”
Amber finally releases his collar and steps back.
THE TRUTH COMES OUT
Her hands shake slightly from the emotional confrontation.
AMBER
“But you did.”
Wayne straightens his shirt.
WAYNE
“I’m sorry you feel this way.”
Amber immediately responds.
AMBER
“Don’t say that.”
WAYNE
“What?”
AMBER
“Don’t tell me you’re sorry if you’re not going to admit what you did.”
Wayne becomes quiet.
Amber looks toward the floor.
For the first time, her anger begins turning into sadness.
AMBER
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.”
Wayne’s expression softens.
WAYNE
“You still have choices.”
Amber looks up.
AMBER
“Do I?”
WAYNE
“Yes.”
AMBER SETS A BOUNDARY
AMBER
“Because right now, it feels like everyone else gets to make decisions for me.”
Wayne takes a slow breath.
WAYNE
“That’s not what I want.”
Amber looks at him.
AMBER
“Then stop making decisions for me.”
Wayne nods.
WAYNE
“Okay.”
Amber turns toward the window.
The office becomes quiet again.
Outside, people continue moving through the hallway, completely unaware of the emotional confrontation happening inside.
“I NEED ANSWERS”
Amber wipes her tears.
AMBER
“I went to Dave because I wanted answers.”
She turns back toward Wayne.
AMBER
“But after talking to him, I realized something.”
Wayne waits.
WAYNE
“What?”
AMBER
“You’re the one I need answers from.”
Wayne looks at her.
WAYNE
“Then ask me.”
Amber takes a deep breath.
AMBER
“Why did you do it?”
Wayne hesitates.
WAYNE
“Because I thought I was doing the right thing.”
Amber slowly shakes her head.
AMBER
“Sometimes doing what you think is right can still destroy someone.”
Wayne has no immediate response.
THE FINAL WARNING
Amber walks toward the door. She stops with her hand on the handle.
WAYNE
“Amber.”
She pauses.
WAYNE
“I never wanted you to feel alone.”
Amber looks back at him.
Her expression is still hurt.
AMBER
“Then you should have listened to me instead of speaking for me.”
Wayne lowers his head.
Amber opens the door.
Before leaving, she turns around one last time.
AMBER
“Stay out of my relationship with Dave.”
Wayne looks at her.
WAYNE
“Okay.”
Amber nods once.
AMBER
“And don’t ever make me come back here feeling like this again.”
AFTER THE CONFRONTATION
She walks out.
The door closes behind her.
Wayne remains standing in the middle of the office.
He looks down at his shirt, then toward the closed door.
The confrontation has left the room completely silent.
Outside, Amber walks down the hallway, still emotional.
She takes a deep breath and tries to regain her composure.
But the anger is still there.
So is the hurt.
And deep down, Amber knows this conversation with Wayne may have changed everything.
