SCENE 01 — SHAYLA’S BEDROOM
The room is quiet. Shayla sits on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone. She takes a deep breath and calls Anthony.
SHAYLA

Anthony, I’ve been thinking about what happened.

SHAYLA

I know I was disrespectful to you, and honestly, I’m ashamed of the way I handled everything.

ANTHONY

So now you’re sorry?

SHAYLA

Yes. I am. I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that. I’m really sorry.

ANTHONY

I’m not ready to accept your apology.

Shayla’s expression drops. She quietly ends the conversation.
SCENE 02 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE
Shayla arrives at Anthony’s house. She takes a deep breath and knocks on the door.
ANTHONY

Shayla? What are you doing here?

SHAYLA

I came to apologize.

ANTHONY

You already apologized on the phone.

SHAYLA

I know. But saying it over the phone wasn’t enough.

SHAYLA

I was wrong. I let my emotions get the best of me, and I truly regret what I said.

SCENE 03 — THE APOLOGY
ANTHONY

You really mean that?

SHAYLA

I do. I’m not asking you to forgive me right now. I just needed you to know that I’m sorry.

ANTHONY

I’m still hurt, Shayla.

SHAYLA

I understand.

ANTHONY

But I respect that you came here yourself.

Shayla nods. She finally feels a little lighter.
SHAYLA

For what it’s worth… I really am sorry.

ANTHONY

I know.

FINAL SCENE
Shayla walks back to her car. Anthony watches her leave from the doorway. Later, he sits alone and thinks about everything she said.
ANTHONY

Maybe she really does mean it.
