Kendrick stood frozen in the middle of the room as Libby looked directly at him. The tension between them had become impossible to ignore. Everyone could sense that something was wrong, but no one knew exactly what had happened.

For a moment, Kendrick said nothing. He stared at her as if he had just heard something impossible. He was absolutely certain that the video Libby was talking about did not exist anymore.

He had made sure of that—or at least, he thought he had.

Before Kendrick could understand what was happening, voices and laughter came from the other side of the house.

The family had begun arriving for the birthday party. Within minutes, the quiet house had transformed into a place filled with music, decorations, balloons, and the smell of freshly prepared food.

Relatives and friends gathered in the living room, laughing and exchanging stories. Someone was arranging the birthday cake while others were taking pictures.

His eyes remained fixed on Libby. She was standing near the corner of the room, holding her phone tightly in one hand.

There was something different about her expression. She looked calm—far too calm for someone who had just threatened to reveal a secret that could change everything.

Kendrick walked toward her.

Libby looked around at the family members who were laughing nearby.

Kendrick pulled her toward a quieter hallway.

Libby pulled her arm away and stared directly into his eyes.

Kendrick’s face became pale.

Libby raised her phone.

She pressed play.

The sound from the phone was barely audible at first. Everyone was still talking and laughing in the next room.

Slowly, however, the voices began to fade as several family members noticed the serious expressions on Kendrick and Libby’s faces.

One by one, they came closer.

At first, there was nothing unusual. The recording showed a familiar room inside the house. A person could be seen walking across the background, but their face wasn’t visible.

Kendrick watched silently.

Then, a few seconds later, something happened.

His entire expression changed.

His eyes widened. His breathing became heavier.

Libby looked at him.

Kendrick shook his head.

But his voice no longer sounded confident.

The people around them began watching the screen more carefully.

The video showed a conversation that had clearly been recorded without the people involved knowing they were being filmed.

Then a voice came through the phone.

A voice Kendrick recognized immediately.

Kendrick stepped backward.

Libby stopped the video.

Libby slowly looked at Kendrick.

Kendrick’s face was filled with fear.

“You’ve been hiding something from everyone for a long time. And now we finally have proof.”

Kendrick looked around the room. His family members were staring at him, waiting for an explanation.

Libby shook her head.

She raised the phone again.

Kendrick suddenly rushed toward her.

But before he could reach her, two family members stepped between them.

Libby took a step back.

Kendrick said nothing.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

The birthday music had stopped in the background. The laughter was gone. Even the children who had been running around the house were now standing quietly, confused by the sudden tension.

Libby looked at everyone.

Libby ignored him and pressed play again.

The video continued for a few more seconds before suddenly going black.
