Amber Discovers Dave and Evelyn’s Affair
The house was unusually quiet that evening. Amber had just returned from the TV launch event, still dressed up and expecting Dave to be waiting for her. But as soon as she stepped inside, something felt wrong.
Dave was standing near the living room, nervously looking at his phone. Evelyn was there too.
Amber: “Why is Evelyn here?”
Dave immediately put his phone away.
Dave: “Amber, it’s not what you think.”
Amber stared at both of them.
Amber: “Then tell me what it is before I start thinking the worst.”
Evelyn looked uncomfortable and slowly stood up.
Evelyn: “I should probably leave.”
Amber: “Yeah, you probably should.”
The Truth Comes Out
Dave stepped toward Amber, trying to calm her down.
Dave: “Listen to me. We can talk about this.”
Amber: “No. I want the truth.”
Dave remained silent for a moment.
That silence told Amber everything.
She looked directly at Evelyn.
Amber: “You and Dave?”
Evelyn lowered her eyes.
Evelyn: “Amber, I never wanted things to get this complicated.”
Amber: “Complicated? You’re standing in my house with my man, and you’re calling it complicated?”
Evelyn grabbed her purse and started walking toward the door.
Amber: “So you’re just going to walk out?”
Evelyn: “I think it’s better if I leave.”
Amber: “Go ahead.”
Dave Tries to Stop the Confrontation
As Evelyn walked toward the door, Amber tried to follow her. Dave quickly grabbed Amber by the arms and stopped her.
Dave: “Amber, no. Let her go.”
Amber: “Move, Dave.”
Dave: “I’m not letting this turn into something worse.”
Amber: “She came into my home and betrayed me, and you’re protecting her?”
Dave: “I’m not protecting anybody. I’m trying to stop this from getting out of control.”
Evelyn reached the doorway, but Amber continued speaking.
Amber: “How could you do this to another woman?”
Evelyn: “I know I made a mistake.”
Amber: “A mistake? You knew exactly what you were doing.”
The Slap
The argument suddenly became more heated. Evelyn stepped closer to Amber, and the tension between them reached its breaking point.
Amber: “You knew Dave was with me. You knew we were together. And you still decided to cheat with him.”
Evelyn: “I said I was sorry.”
Amber: “Sorry doesn’t erase what you did.”
Evelyn became angry.
Evelyn: “Don’t act like you’re the only person who has feelings in this situation.”
Amber stepped toward her.
Amber: “What did you just say?”
Dave immediately moved between them.
Dave: “Evelyn, don’t.”
But the argument continued.
Amber: “You are absolutely characterless for doing something like this.”
Evelyn: “Don’t call me that!”
Amber: “You earned it!”
In the heat of the argument, Evelyn slapped Amber.
For a moment, the entire room went silent. Amber looked stunned, while Dave immediately stepped between the two women.
Dave: “Evelyn! What are you doing?”
Amber: “You really just slapped me?”
Evelyn: “I lost my temper.”
Amber reacted angrily, and Dave immediately moved to keep the two women apart.
Dave: “That’s enough! Both of you, stop!”
Amber: “Dave, move!”
Dave: “No! I’m not moving. Both of you need to calm down.”
Amber Confronts Dave
Amber’s anger slowly turned into disappointment. She looked directly at Dave.
Amber: “You knew about this, didn’t you?”
Dave hesitated.
Amber: “That hesitation tells me everything.”
Dave: “I should have told you.”
Amber: “How long?”
Dave didn’t answer immediately.
Amber: “How long, Dave?”
Dave: “A little while.”
Amber shook her head in disbelief.
Amber: “You lied to me. You looked me in the face every day and lied.”
Dave: “I didn’t know how to tell you.”
Amber: “You knew how to cheat. You just didn’t know how to tell me the truth.”
Evelyn Admits the Truth
Evelyn stood several feet away, looking ashamed.
Amber: “And you knew exactly who I was.”
Evelyn: “I did.”
Amber: “So why?”
Evelyn: “I thought Dave and I had something real. I knew it was wrong, but I let my feelings take over.”
Amber looked back at Dave.
Amber: “And you let her?”
Dave: “I made the choice. I’m responsible.”
Amber’s expression became colder.
Amber: “That is the first honest thing you’ve said tonight.”
The Final Goodbye
Evelyn picked up her purse and prepared to leave.
Evelyn: “I should go.”
Dave: “Yes. Go home.”
Evelyn walked toward the door. Before leaving, she looked back at Amber.
Evelyn: “I am sorry.”
Amber didn’t respond.
The door closed behind Evelyn.
Dave and Amber were left standing in silence.
Dave: “Amber…”
Amber: “Don’t.”
Dave stopped.
The Ending
Amber looked toward the closed door before turning back to Dave.
Amber: “Tonight wasn’t just about the slap. It was about finding out that the person I trusted most was living a completely different life behind my back.”
Dave: “I wish I could change it.”
Amber: “You can’t change what happened. Now you have to live with what you did.”
Dave nodded silently.
Amber walked upstairs, leaving him alone in the living room.
For the first time that night, Dave realized that stopping the fight between Amber and Evelyn had been the easy part.
The real fight was the one he had created inside his own relationship.
