SCENE 1: LARRY’S HOUSE — AFTERNOON

Larry is sitting comfortably on the couch while Bethany sits beside him. They are having a quiet conversation when Larry’s phone suddenly begins ringing.

Who’s calling you?

LARRY

It’s Lynette.

LARRY

SCENE 2: LYNETTE’S HOUSE — AFTERNOON

Lynette looks at her phone and realizes that Larry has ignored several calls.

LYNETTE

What’s going on? I’ve called him two or three times, and he hasn’t answered once.

LYNETTE

I’m not going to keep calling. I’ll just go over there and check on him myself.

Lynette grabs her belongings, walks outside, and heads straight to Larry’s house.

SCENE 3: LARRY’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATER

Lynette arrives at Larry’s front door and knocks. Larry hears the knocking and gets up from the couch.

LARRY

Who is that now?

He walks toward the door and opens it. To his complete surprise, Lynette is standing outside. Larry’s expression changes immediately.

LARRY

Lynette? What are you doing here?

LYNETTE

What do you mean, what am I doing here? I’ve been calling you for a while, but you haven’t answered a single call.

LARRY

I wasn’t answering because I was busy.

LYNETTE

Busy doing what? I was only trying to check on your health. I wanted to make sure you were okay.

Oh, so this is why you weren’t answering your phone?

LYNETTE

I was calling Larry to check on his health. He wasn’t answering, so I decided to come and see if everything was okay.

Bethany folds her arms.

BETHANY

Well, you don’t have to do that. I can take care of Larry myself. You don’t need to keep checking on him.

LYNETTE

I wasn’t asking you whether I could check on him. I was simply asking how he was doing.

BETHANY

And I’m telling you that there’s no reason for you to come here.

LYNETTE

Bethany, I’m not here to interfere in your marriage. I was concerned about Larry. That’s all.

BETHANY

Then you should have stayed home. You don’t need to show up at his house every time he doesn’t answer your calls.
