THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED
SCENE 1 — TURKS AND CAICOS — EVENING
The celebration is still alive. Music fills the luxurious outdoor venue as everyone enjoys the beautiful evening.
Anthony slowly steps toward D’Nisha. He looks nervous, but his eyes never leave her.
He takes her hand and gets down on one knee. D’Nisha covers her mouth in complete shock.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha, from the moment you came into my life, everything changed for me. You became someone I could never imagine losing.
Anthony opens the ring box. D’Nisha’s eyes fill with tears.
ANTHONY
I don’t want to spend another day wondering what our future could look like. I want to build that future with you. Will you marry me?
The crowd erupts with excitement. D’Nisha looks at Anthony, overwhelmed by emotion.
D’NISHA
Yes.
Anthony embraces her as everyone celebrates. But across the room, Shayla watches the proposal with tears in her eyes.
She quickly turns away and walks inside.
SCENE 2 — INSIDE THE RESORT
Angelina follows Shayla down the hallway and gently tries to comfort her.
ANGELINA
Shayla, I know this hurts, but you have to calm down.
SHAYLA
How am I supposed to calm down after watching the man I love propose to someone else?
ANGELINA
I know you’re hurting. But you have to be patient. You can’t let jealousy control you.
Angelina gently touches Shayla’s shoulder.
ANGELINA
Just breathe. Be patient, and please stop crying.
Shayla nods silently. Angelina eventually leaves her alone, believing Shayla will calm down.
SCENE 3 — SHAYLA’S JEALOUS THOUGHTS
Alone in the hallway, Shayla’s sadness slowly turns into anger.
Images of Anthony proposing to D’Nisha replay in her mind.
SHAYLA
I can’t let this happen.
She looks toward D’Nisha’s room.
SHAYLA
I’m not going to let Anthony belong to someone else.
SHAYLA
D’Nisha thinks she can take him away from me? I’ll teach her a lesson.
Shayla walks away, already thinking about what she is going to do.
SCENE 4 — LATER THAT NIGHT
The resort has become quiet. Anthony leaves to visit Wayne.
Shayla waits until Anthony is gone before walking toward D’Nisha’s room.
She knocks. D’Nisha opens the door and immediately looks surprised.
D’NISHA
Shayla? What are you doing here?
Shayla walks inside and locks the door behind her.
D’NISHA
Why did you lock the door?
SHAYLA
Because I need to talk to you.
SHAYLA
Anthony.
SCENE 5 — THE ARGUMENT
SHAYLA
You took Anthony away from me.
D’NISHA
I didn’t take anyone from you. Anthony made his own choice.
SHAYLA
That’s what you keep telling yourself.
D’NISHA
Anthony proposed to me because he loves me. You need to accept that.
Shayla’s face hardens as the argument becomes more intense.
SHAYLA
You really think you won?
D’NISHA
This isn’t a competition.
SHAYLA
It is to me.
D’Nisha asks Shayla to leave. Instead, Shayla’s eyes move toward a nearby decorative vase.
SCENE 6 — EVERYTHING GOES WRONG
D’Nisha notices Shayla looking toward the table.
D’NISHA
Shayla?
Shayla suddenly grabs the vase. D’Nisha steps backward.
D’NISHA
What are you doing?
In a sudden burst of anger, Shayla strikes D’Nisha with the vase. D’Nisha screams and falls to the floor.
Shayla freezes as the reality of what happened begins to sink in.
SHAYLA
D’Nisha?
There is no response. Then footsteps suddenly approach outside the room.
SCENE 7 — ANTHONY RETURNS
Anthony rushes down the hallway after hearing the scream.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha!
He enters the room and sees D’Nisha lying unconscious on the floor. His face immediately fills with shock.
ANTHONY
Baby, wake up. Please wake up.
Anthony looks toward Shayla, unable to believe what he is seeing.
ANTHONY
What did you do?
SHAYLA
Anthony, I…
ANTHONY
What did you do to her?
Anthony immediately calls the police and requests emergency medical help.
SCENE 8 — THE ARREST
Moments later, police officers arrive at the resort. The room fills with urgency as officers assess the situation.
One officer approaches Shayla.
POLICE OFFICER
Shayla, you’re under arrest.
Shayla begins crying as the officer places handcuffs on her.
SHAYLA
Please…
Anthony stays beside D’Nisha while paramedics prepare to take her for medical treatment.
Shayla looks back at Anthony one final time as she is escorted away.
SHAYLA
Anthony, I’m sorry.
Anthony doesn’t respond. His attention remains on D’Nisha.
The romantic night that began with a proposal has turned into a nightmare. Shayla’s jealousy didn’t bring Anthony back. Instead, it changed the lives of everyone involved.
