The Evening is Quiet
The evening is quiet, but Brooke is sitting alone on her sofa, tears filling her eyes. She keeps replaying the painful moment in her mind, unable to believe how badly her own father humiliated her because of Bethany. With trembling hands, she finally grabs her phone and calls Lynette.
BROOKE: “Lynette… I don’t know what to do. Dad humiliated me today, and Bethany is the reason it happened.”
Lynette immediately notices Brooke’s broken voice.
LYNETTE: “What did he do to you?”
BROOKE: “He embarrassed me in front of everyone. I felt completely helpless. I never thought my own father would treat me like that.”
For a moment, Lynette says nothing. Her expression slowly changes from concern to anger. She can hear the pain in Brooke’s voice, and she refuses to let it go.
LYNETTE: “Brooke, listen to me. You don’t deserve this. And Bethany needs to understand that she can’t keep treating you like this.”
BROOKE: “Lynette, please don’t make things worse.”
LYNETTE: “Too late. I’m already angry. I’m coming over, and Bethany is going to hear exactly what I have to say.”
Brooke takes a shaky breath.
BROOKE: “Are you serious?”
LYNETTE: “Absolutely. I’m not letting anyone humiliate you and walk away like nothing happened. I’m coming now.”
📞 Lynette ends the call.
She grabs her keys, walks out of her house, and gets into her car. Her face is tense, but her determination is clear. She starts driving toward Larry’s house, convinced that Bethany needs to face the consequences of her actions.
Meanwhile, Brooke remains at home, staring at her phone. She knows Lynette is furious, but a small part of her feels relieved. For the first time that night, she feels like someone is standing beside her.
Minutes later, Lynette pulls up outside Larry’s house. She gets out of the car and walks straight toward the front door.
She knocks once.
Then again.
LYNETTE: “BETHANY! Come outside!”
Larry opens the door, surprised to see her standing there.
LARRY: “Lynette? What are you doing here?”
LYNETTE: “Where is Bethany?”
LARRY: “Why?”
LYNETTE: “Because I have something to say to her.”
Larry looks confused as Lynette raises her voice.
LYNETTE: “BETHANY! GET OUT HERE!”
From inside the house, Bethany hears the shouting and slowly walks toward the entrance.
BETHANY: “What is going on?”
The second Bethany appears, Lynette steps forward.
LYNETTE: “You know exactly what this is about.”
BETHANY: “I honestly don’t.”
LYNETTE: “Brooke.”
Bethany’s expression changes.
BETHANY: “What about Brooke?”
LYNETTE: “You caused enough trouble today. Because of you, Brooke was humiliated, and now she’s sitting at home in tears.”
BETHANY: “That is not my fault.”
LYNETTE: “Don’t try to deny it. You keep pushing people until they break, and then you act innocent.”
Larry steps between them.
LARRY: “Enough! This is my house. Nobody is going to start a scene here.”
LYNETTE: “Then maybe you should have thought about that before Brooke was humiliated.”
LARRY: “You don’t know the whole story.”
LYNETTE: “I know enough to know Brooke was hurt.”
Bethany folds her arms.
BETHANY: “Brooke sent you here to attack me?”
LYNETTE: “No. Brooke called me because she was hurt. I came because I refuse to watch someone I care about be treated like she doesn’t matter.”
BETHANY: “You’re making a huge mistake.”
LYNETTE: “The only mistake I’m making is wasting my time arguing with you.”
The tension suddenly explodes. Voices rise, accusations fly, and Larry struggles to calm everyone down.
LARRY: “Everyone, stop!”
But nobody listens.
BETHANY: “You can’t come into my house and insult me!”
LYNETTE: “And you can’t keep hurting Brooke and expect everyone to stay silent!”
The argument becomes louder. For a moment, it looks like the entire house might erupt into chaos.
Then Lynette makes a decision.
LYNETTE: “Brooke is coming with me.”
Larry stares at her.
LARRY: “You’re taking her where?”
LYNETTE: “To my house. She needs peace, not more drama.”
Later that night, Lynette returns to Brooke’s home. She finds Brooke waiting anxiously.
LYNETTE: “Come on. You’re staying with me tonight.”
BROOKE: “What happened?”
LYNETTE: “Let’s just say Bethany heard everything I needed to say.”
Brooke looks relieved, but also worried.
BROOKE: “Lynette, I never wanted you to fight with them.”
LYNETTE: “I know. But sometimes people need to realize their actions have consequences.”
The two leave together, while the tension at Larry’s house continues to hang in the air.
But as Brooke looks out the car window, she has no idea that tonight’s confrontation may have changed everything.
And Bethany certainly isn’t going to forget what happened.
For a few seconds, the room falls quiet. Bethany looks toward Larry, expecting him to defend her, but Larry remains silent. That silence only makes the situation more uncomfortable.
BETHANY: “Larry, are you really going to let her talk to me like this?”
LARRY: “Bethany, just calm down.”
LYNETTE: “See? Even he knows this has gone too far.”
BETHANY: “You came here looking for a fight.”
LYNETTE: “I came here because Brooke was hurt. There is a difference.”
Bethany takes a step closer, her voice becoming colder.
BETHANY: “Tell Brooke she should learn to handle her own problems.”
Lynette immediately shakes her head.
LYNETTE: “No. You should learn to stop creating them.”
Larry raises his voice.
LARRY: “That’s enough! This conversation is over!”
Lynette looks at him for a long moment before turning back toward Bethany.
LYNETTE: “Remember this moment. Next time you decide to hurt Brooke, think twice before you do it.”
Bethany watches as Lynette walks away.
Outside, Lynette calls Brooke and tells her to get ready. When she arrives, Brooke gets into the car, still shaken from the day.
BROOKE: “Did you really confront Bethany?”
LYNETTE: “I did. And I would do it again.”
Brooke wipes away her tears and gives Lynette a grateful smile.
BROOKE: “Thank you for standing up for me.”
LYNETTE: “Always.”
The car disappears into the night, leaving Larry and Bethany with an argument that is not over.
