Bethany Finally Tells Larry to Leave
The house was already filled with tension. Nobody was speaking. But one conversation was about to change everything.
Brooke sat quietly on the edge of the couch, watching Larry pace back and forth. Lynthenne stood near Bethany, sensing that something was about to happen.
Bethany’s expression was already tense, but she was trying hard to remain calm.
Larry Makes a Decision
Larry suddenly stopped and looked toward Brooke.
Larry: “Brooke, I think you should go stay at your cousin’s house for a few days.”
Brooke looked up in confusion.
Brooke: “My cousin’s house? Why?”
Larry sighed.
Larry: “Because things around here are getting too complicated. I think you need some space from all this.”
Bethany immediately turned toward him.
Bethany: “Excuse me?”
Larry: “I’m just trying to help Brooke.”
Bethany shook her head.
Bethany: “No. You’re trying to make decisions for everybody again.”
Lynthenne: “And why does Brooke have to leave? She hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Larry became defensive.
Larry: “That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying she would be better off somewhere else right now.”
Brooke looked between them nervously.
Brooke: “Please stop arguing because of me.”
Bethany Draws the Line
Bethany walked toward Larry.
Bethany: “No, Brooke. Stay right there. This has nothing to do with you.”
Larry: “Bethany, I’m not trying to start another argument.”
Bethany: “But you already did.”
Lynthenne crossed her arms and looked directly at Larry.
Lynthenne: “Larry, you can’t just tell Brooke to leave whenever you’re upset.”
Larry: “I said I think it would be better for her.”
Bethany: “She is not going anywhere.”
Larry stared at Bethany.
Larry: “Bethany, calm down.”
Bethany: “Don’t tell me to calm down!”
Her voice echoed through the room.
“You keep acting like this is your house and everybody has to follow whatever you say.”
Larry looked frustrated.
Larry: “That’s not fair.”
Bethany: “Fair? You want to talk about fair?”
Bethany stepped closer.
Bethany: “You’re the one who keeps talking about leaving. You’re the one who keeps bringing up divorce. You’re the one who makes everybody feel like they’re walking on eggshells.”
The Divorce Argument Explodes
Larry suddenly became quiet.
Bethany: “And now you want Brooke to leave because you think that will make your life easier?”
Larry didn’t answer.
That silence made Bethany even angrier.
Bethany: “See? You don’t even have an answer.”
Brooke slowly stood up.
Brooke: “Maybe I should just go.”
Bethany: “No. You are not leaving because of him.”
Larry shook his head.
Larry: “Bethany, this is exactly why I think she needs to go. Everyone is getting emotional.”
Lynthenne: “Or maybe everyone is getting emotional because you keep pushing them.”
Larry looked at Lynthenne.
Larry: “You stay out of this.”
Lynthenne: “I will not stay out of it when Brooke is being dragged into something that has nothing to do with her.”
Larry Decides to Leave
Larry rubbed his forehead.
Larry: “Fine. I’ll go stay with my cousin for a while.”
Bethany froze.
Bethany: “What did you just say?”
Larry: “I said I’ll leave. I’ll go to my cousin’s house.”
Lynthenne looked relieved for a moment, but Bethany wasn’t.
Bethany: “You’re really doing this?”
Larry: “I’m trying to avoid another fight.”
Bethany: “No, Larry. You’re running away from the problem.”
Larry stopped near the doorway.
Larry: “I don’t know what you want from me anymore.”
Bethany Says the Words Larry Never Expected
Bethany stared directly at him.
Bethany: “You want the truth?”
Larry: “Yes.”
Bethany: “You told me you were going to divorce me anyway. You’ve already made it clear you don’t want this marriage.”
Larry looked stunned.
Larry: “So?”
Bethany: “So you don’t get to keep treating my house like a place you can come and go from whenever you feel like it.”
Lynthenne stood silently beside Bethany.
Bethany pointed toward the front door.
Bethany: “If you really plan on divorcing me, then leave my house.”
Larry Walks Out
Larry stared at Bethany in disbelief.
Larry: “You really want me to walk out?”
Bethany: “Yes.”
Larry looked down at his keys. For the first time, his anger disappeared. He looked genuinely hurt.
Larry: “Bethany…”
Bethany: “No. I’ve heard enough.”
Larry slowly opened the door and stepped outside.
Brooke looked worried.
Brooke: “Larry, wait…”
Bethany: “Let him go.”
Larry turned around one last time.
Larry: “I never thought you would actually tell me to leave.”
Bethany’s face remained firm, but her eyes revealed that she was hurting too.
Bethany: “You gave me no other choice.”
Larry walked toward the gate.
Lynthenne quietly looked at Bethany.
Lynthenne: “Bethany, are you sure?”
Bethany watched Larry disappear.
Bethany: “I don’t know.”
The Phone Call Changes Everything
Brooke looked at Bethany.
Brooke: “What happens now?”
Bethany didn’t answer.
Then her phone suddenly rang.
Bethany looked at the screen. Her expression immediately changed. The anger disappeared from her face, replaced by shock.
She slowly answered the call.
A voice on the other end said something that made her face go completely pale.
Bethany lowered the phone.
Brooke: “Bethany… what happened?”
Bethany looked toward the gate where Larry had just disappeared.
Then she whispered:
“Larry never told me where he was really going.”
And suddenly, the argument about Brooke leaving felt like the smallest part of the secret.
