Bethany’s Terrifying Car Accident Leaves Larry and Brooke in Panic

The sound of the phone ringing broke the silence in Larry’s living room.

He looked at the screen and immediately noticed that the call was from an unfamiliar number.

“Hello?” Larry answered.

For a few seconds, he said nothing.

Then his expression completely changed.

“What? Bethany?”

He stood up so quickly that the chair moved backward.

“Where is she? Is she okay?”

The person on the other end explained that Bethany had been involved in a serious car accident and had already been taken to the hospital.

Larry’s face went pale.

“Which hospital? I’m coming right now.”

He grabbed his keys and rushed toward the door.

Before he could leave, Brooke walked into the room.

“Dad, what happened?”

Larry looked at her with panic in his eyes.

“It’s your mom. Bethany had an accident.”

Brooke froze.

“What?”

“She was driving fast, and her car crashed into a streetlight. The police are already there, and she’s been taken to the hospital.”

Brooke immediately grabbed her phone.

“Is she okay?”

“I don’t know,” Larry replied. “That’s what scares me.”

Brooke’s voice began to shake.

“Dad, we need to go. Right now.”

Larry nodded.

“Get in the car.”

They rushed outside.

Meanwhile, several miles away, Bethany’s car sat damaged near the side of the road. The front of the vehicle had suffered heavy damage, and the airbags had deployed inside the cabin.

Police officers had already arrived and were securing the area.

One officer stood near the vehicle, speaking with another officer.

“Did anyone see exactly what happened?” he asked.

“A witness said the car was moving very fast before it lost control,” the other officer replied. “It struck the streetlight, and emergency services were called immediately.”

The officer looked toward the damaged vehicle.

“Thank goodness the airbags deployed.”

Inside the ambulance, Bethany was unconscious and being taken to the hospital.

At the hospital, doctors and nurses were already preparing for her arrival.

Larry and Brooke were still on their way.

Brooke kept looking at her phone.

“No call yet,” she said nervously.

Larry kept both hands firmly on the steering wheel.

“They’ll tell us something when we get there.”

“But what if something is wrong?”

Larry took a breath.

“Don’t think like that.”

Brooke looked out the window.

“I can’t stop thinking about it, Dad. What if she was alone? What if she needed someone?”

“She wasn’t alone for long,” Larry said. “People called the emergency services. She’s at the hospital now. We’re going to be there soon.”

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Brooke jumped out before Larry had even fully closed his door.

“Where is Bethany?” she asked the receptionist.

The receptionist looked at the information on the screen.

“Are you family?”

“Yes,” Larry answered quickly. “I’m her husband.”

“And I’m her daughter,” Brooke added.

The receptionist pointed toward the emergency department.

“She was brought in a short while ago. The doctors are examining her now.”

Brooke immediately started walking toward the emergency area.

“Can we see her?”

“Not yet,” the receptionist said gently. “The medical team is still working with her.”

Brooke stopped.

Larry placed a hand on her shoulder.

“We have to wait.”

Brooke looked at him.

“I hate waiting.”

“I know.”

They sat down, but neither of them could relax.

A few minutes later, a police officer entered the hospital.

Larry immediately stood.

“Are you the officer who responded to Bethany’s accident?”

“Yes,” the officer replied. “I was at the scene.”

Larry stepped closer.

“Please tell me what happened.”

The officer spoke calmly.

“According to the initial information, Bethany was driving at a high speed when she lost control of the vehicle. The car struck a streetlight. The airbags deployed, and emergency responders arrived shortly afterward.”

Brooke covered her mouth.

“Was she conscious?”

“She was unconscious when emergency responders reached her,” the officer said. “But she was breathing, and they transported her immediately.”

Larry looked down for a moment.

“Thank you for getting her help.”

The officer nodded.

“We’re still investigating the accident, but right now the most important thing is her condition.”

Suddenly, a doctor walked through the emergency department doors.

Larry immediately approached him.

“Doctor, Bethany?”

The doctor looked at them.

“Are you Larry?”

“Yes.”

“I’m Dr. Harris. Bethany is stable at the moment. She has suffered injuries from the collision, and we’re continuing to monitor her closely.”

Brooke quickly asked, “Can we see her?”

“In a little while,” the doctor replied. “She isn’t awake yet, but we’re taking care of her.”

Larry closed his eyes for a moment, clearly relieved but still frightened.

“Is she going to be okay?”

“We need some time to observe her before we can say exactly how she’ll recover,” the doctor explained. “But she is receiving treatment, and we’re monitoring her carefully.”

Brooke wiped her eyes.

“Can we stay here?”

“Of course.”

The doctor walked away.

Brooke sat beside Larry.

“She has to wake up.”

Larry looked at her.

“She will.”

“How do you know?”

Larry struggled to answer.

“I don’t know. I just have to believe that.”

Brooke looked toward the emergency department doors.

“I was so angry with her yesterday.”

Larry looked at her.

“That doesn’t matter right now.”

“But I wish I had called her.”

Larry gently squeezed her hand.

“When she wakes up, you can tell her everything you wanted to say.”

Brooke nodded.

“I will.”

Hours seemed to pass.

Eventually, a nurse came toward them.

“She’s showing signs of waking up.”

Larry and Brooke immediately stood.

“Can we see her now?” Larry asked.

The nurse smiled slightly.

“One at a time. She may be confused when she wakes up.”

Larry looked at Brooke.

“You go first.”

Brooke shook her head.

“No, Dad. You go.”

Larry hesitated before walking toward Bethany’s room.

He entered quietly.

Bethany slowly opened her eyes.

For a moment, she looked confused.

Then she recognized Larry.

“Larry?”

He immediately moved closer.

“I’m here.”

Bethany tried to speak.

“What happened?”

“You were in an accident,” Larry said gently. “But you’re here now. That’s what matters.”

Bethany looked at him with tears in her eyes.

“I scared you, didn’t I?”

Larry nodded.

“More than you know.”

Outside the room, Brooke waited anxiously.

When Larry finally came out, he looked exhausted but relieved.

“She’s awake,” he told Brooke.

Brooke immediately smiled through her tears.

“Really?”

Larry nodded.

“She asked about you.”

Brooke quickly walked into the room.

“Mom?”

Bethany turned toward her.

Brooke took her hand carefully.

“I was so scared.”

Bethany looked at her daughter.

“I’m sorry.”

Brooke shook her head.

“Just don’t ever scare me like that again.”

Bethany gave a small smile.

“I’ll try.”

Larry stood quietly near the door, watching them.

The accident had changed everything in a matter of seconds, but as he watched Bethany and Brooke together, he realized one thing mattered more than every argument, every misunderstanding, and every problem they had ever faced.

They were together.

And Bethany had survived the terrifying moment that could have changed their family forever.
