BROOKE REVEALS ISAIAH’S BETRAYAL — LARRY CONFRONTS HIS MOTHER

INT. LARRY’S LIVING ROOM – EVENING

The house is quiet.

BROOKE stands near the couch, holding her phone tightly in both hands.

Her eyes are filled with disappointment.

LARRY notices her expression immediately.

He slowly puts his phone down.

LARRY
Brooke, what’s wrong?

Brooke hesitates.

She looks away, trying to hold back her emotions.

BROOKE
Dad… I need to tell you something.

Larry stands.

His expression becomes serious.

LARRY
What happened?

Brooke takes a shaky breath.

BROOKE
Isaiah betrayed me.

Larry freezes.

LARRY
What do you mean?

Brooke unlocks her phone.

She shows Larry a picture.

Larry looks at the screen.

His expression changes.

BROOKE
He’s been seeing another girl.

Larry stares at the phone.

He looks back at Brooke.

LARRY
Are you sure this is Isaiah?

BROOKE
Yes.
My friend sent me this.

Brooke’s voice begins to crack.

BROOKE
He told me he loved me.
He told me I was the only girl he wanted.

She wipes her eyes.

BROOKE
And all this time, he was with someone else.

Larry walks toward her.

LARRY
Brooke…

BROOKE
I trusted him, Dad.

Larry looks angry, but he keeps his voice calm.

LARRY
Did you talk to Isaiah?

BROOKE
I tried.
He didn’t even care.
He acted like I was the problem.

Larry shakes his head.

LARRY
You didn’t deserve that.

Brooke looks down.

BROOKE
I don’t understand why he did this.

Larry puts his hand on her shoulder.

LARRY
Sometimes people show you who they really are.

Brooke looks up at him.

BROOKE
I just wanted him to be honest with me.

Larry’s expression hardens.

He picks up his keys from the table.

BROOKE
Dad, where are you going?

Larry turns toward the door.

LARRY
I’m going to talk to Isaiah’s mother.

Brooke looks surprised.

BROOKE
Why?

LARRY
Because she needs to know what her son is doing.

Larry opens the door.

BROOKE
Dad, please don’t make things worse.

Larry looks back at her.

LARRY
I’m not going there to start a fight.
I’m going there to make sure she understands what happened.

Brooke nods slowly.

Larry walks out.

The door closes behind him.

EXT. CITY STREET – NIGHT

Larry drives through the neighborhood.

His hands grip the steering wheel tightly.

His mind keeps returning to Brooke’s words.

“Isaiah betrayed me.”

Larry takes a deep breath.

He turns onto another street.

EXT. ISAIAH’S HOUSE – NIGHT

Larry parks outside.

He gets out of the car.

He walks toward the front door.

He knocks firmly.

A few seconds later, ISAIAH’S MOTHER opens the door.

She immediately recognizes Larry.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Larry?
What are you doing here?

Larry remains calm.

LARRY
I need to talk to you about Isaiah.

Her expression changes.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Is something wrong?

Larry nods.

LARRY
Yes.
It’s about Brooke.

Isaiah’s mother steps outside and closes the door behind her.

ISAIAH’S MOM
What happened?

Larry looks directly at her.

LARRY
Your son betrayed my daughter.

She looks confused.

ISAIAH’S MOM
What?

LARRY
Isaiah has been seeing another girl while he was with Brooke.

Isaiah’s mother is stunned.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Are you sure?

LARRY
Brooke showed me the evidence.
Your son wasn’t honest with her.

Isaiah’s mother looks down.

She slowly shakes her head.

ISAIAH’S MOM
I didn’t know about any of this.

LARRY
That’s why I’m here.
I want you to understand what happened.

Isaiah’s mother looks worried.

ISAIAH’S MOM
What does Brooke want to do?

LARRY
She’s hurt.
She’s trying to understand why someone she trusted would do this to her.

A brief silence.

Larry’s anger begins to turn into concern.

LARRY
And I’m telling you this because you have another daughter to think about.

Isaiah’s mother looks at him.

ISAIAH’S MOM
My daughter?

LARRY
Yes.

Larry pauses.

LARRY
If Isaiah can betray Brooke, you need to make sure your daughter doesn’t get caught up in the same situation.

Isaiah’s mother becomes serious.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Are you saying Isaiah could hurt her too?

LARRY
I’m saying you shouldn’t ignore what he’s capable of doing.
He betrayed Brooke’s trust.
He could do the same thing to your daughter.

Isaiah’s mother takes a slow breath.

ISAIAH’S MOM
I can’t believe this.

Larry nods.

LARRY
Neither can Brooke.
She’s devastated.

Isaiah’s mother looks toward the house.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Where is Isaiah?

LARRY
I don’t know.
But you need to talk to him.
You need to hear the truth from him.

Isaiah’s mother nods.

ISAIAH’S MOM
I will.

Larry starts walking back toward his car.

Isaiah’s mother stops him.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Larry.

He turns.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Thank you for telling me.

Larry nods.

LARRY
I’m only doing what I believe is right.

He walks away.

INT. ISAIAH’S HOUSE – LATER THAT NIGHT

Isaiah’s mother walks into the living room.

She looks worried.

Her daughter is sitting on the couch.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Honey, we need to talk.

Her daughter looks up.

DAUGHTER
About what?

Isaiah’s mother sits beside her.

ISAIAH’S MOM
About Isaiah.

The daughter immediately looks concerned.

DAUGHTER
What happened?

Isaiah’s mother takes a deep breath.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Larry came here tonight.
He told me Isaiah betrayed Brooke.

The daughter looks shocked.

DAUGHTER
What?

ISAIAH’S MOM
Apparently, Isaiah has been seeing another girl.

The daughter becomes quiet.

DAUGHTER
I didn’t know.

Isaiah’s mother takes her hand.

ISAIAH’S MOM
Listen to me carefully.
I don’t want you getting hurt.

The daughter nods.

ISAIAH’S MOM
If Isaiah ever tries to pull you into something you aren’t comfortable with, you come to me.
You don’t keep secrets from me.

DAUGHTER
Okay, Mom.

Isaiah’s mother looks toward the hallway.

Her expression is filled with disappointment.

ISAIAH’S MOM
I need to talk to my son.

INT. LARRY’S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

Brooke sits alone on the couch.

She looks at her phone.

A message from Isaiah appears.

She stares at it.

She doesn’t respond.

The front door opens.

Larry walks inside.

Brooke immediately looks up.

BROOKE
Did you talk to his mom?

Larry nods.

LARRY
Yes.

BROOKE
What did she say?

Larry sits beside her.

LARRY
She was shocked.
She didn’t know what Isaiah was doing.

Brooke looks down.

BROOKE
I feel stupid for trusting him.

Larry shakes his head.

LARRY
Don’t say that.
Trusting someone doesn’t make you stupid.

Brooke looks at him.

LARRY
What Isaiah did was his choice.
Not yours.

Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.

BROOKE
I really loved him, Dad.

Larry puts an arm around her.

LARRY
I know.
And that’s why this hurts so much.

Brooke rests her head against his shoulder.

Larry looks toward the window.

His expression is protective.

LARRY
But you’re going to get through this.
You don’t need someone who makes you question your worth.

Brooke wipes her tears.

BROOKE
What if he tries to come back?

Larry looks at her.

LARRY
Then you remember how you felt tonight.

Brooke nods.

Larry squeezes her shoulder gently.

LARRY
You deserve honesty.
You deserve respect.
And most importantly, you deserve peace.

Brooke takes a deep breath.

For the first time that night, she begins to calm down.

Outside, the street is quiet.

Inside, father and daughter sit together in silence.

The betrayal has changed everything.

But Brooke no longer feels like she’s facing it alone.

FADE OUT.
