The house is unusually quiet. Lauren sits on the couch while Wayne is across the room.
LAUREN
Hello?
DAVE
Lauren, I need to talk to you about something important.
LAUREN
About what?
DAVE
It’s about Amber’s podcast.
LAUREN
Amber’s podcast? How would you even know anything about Amber’s situation?
DAVE
I know more than you think I do.
LAUREN
Dave, you’re going to have to explain yourself.
DAVE
I don’t want to explain this over the phone. Just meet me somewhere.
LAUREN

Lauren grabs her purse and heads toward the door. Wayne watches her carefully.
WAYNE
Where are you going?
LAUREN
I have to meet Dave.

LAUREN
Yeah. He says he knows something about Amber’s podcast.
WAYNE
And you believe him?
LAUREN
I don’t know what to believe. That’s why I’m going.

Lauren drives through the city. She keeps thinking about Dave’s mysterious phone call.
LAUREN
What could Dave possibly know about Amber?
Meanwhile, Wayne follows from a distance. He knows he needs answers.

Lauren arrives at the meeting location. Dave is already waiting for her.
LAUREN
Dave.
DAVE
Lauren.
Dave unexpectedly moves toward Lauren. She is caught off guard.
LAUREN
Dave, what are you doing?
DAVE
I just wanted to see you.
LAUREN
You told me this was about Amber.

Dave ignores Lauren’s boundaries and kisses her without her consent. Lauren immediately pulls away, shocked and upset.
LAUREN
What is wrong with you?
LAUREN
You told me you had information about Amber!
LAUREN
You brought me here under false pretenses!

A short distance away, Wayne watches everything. His expression becomes furious.
WAYNE
LAUREN!
LAUREN
Wayne?
WAYNE
So this is the meeting?
LAUREN
Wayne, you don’t understand what happened.
WAYNE
I saw what happened.
WAYNE
You called her pretending you had information about Amber just to get her alone?
DAVE
That’s not how it was.
WAYNE
Then explain it.

DAVE
Wayne, you’re making this bigger than it is.
WAYNE
You don’t get to tell me what this is.
DAVE
I made a mistake.
WAYNE

Wayne shakes his head, struggling to control his anger.
LAUREN
Wayne is right.

The atmosphere becomes heavy. Lauren steps away from Dave.

I heard the entire phone conversation.
LAUREN
You heard us?
WAYNE
Yes. Your phone was on speaker.

Lauren suddenly realizes that Wayne heard everything from the beginning.
LAUREN
I honestly thought Dave wanted to tell me something about Amber.
WAYNE
I believe you thought that.

LAUREN
You knew exactly what you were doing.
WAYNE
That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you.
DAVE
So that’s it? You’re just going to believe Wayne?
LAUREN
This isn’t about choosing sides. It’s about trust.
Dave remains silent. Lauren’s disappointment is clear.

The engine starts. Lauren sits quietly in the passenger seat.
LAUREN
Wayne… I know you’re angry.

LAUREN

WAYNE

Wayne and Lauren drive away, leaving Dave behind.
LAUREN
Then what happens now?
WAYNE
Now we find out what Dave really knows about Amber’s podcast.
LAUREN

Maybe. But after tonight, I’m not taking anything he says at face value.
