BETHANY SUDDENLY FALLS ILL ON THE CRUISE — LARRY BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AS SHE IS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL!
Larry was enjoying a quiet moment with Bethany aboard the cruise when everything suddenly changed. One minute, they were together, trying to enjoy their vacation, and the next, Larry was desperately calling for help as Bethany’s health took a frightening turn. He had never imagined that their romantic cruise would turn into a nightmare.
Bethany was sitting on the couch inside their cabin when she suddenly began feeling unwell. She placed one hand against her chest and closed her eyes, trying to gather herself. Larry noticed that something wasn’t right.
LARRY: “Bethany, what’s wrong? You’ve been quiet for the last few minutes. Are you feeling okay?”
Bethany tried to respond, but she looked too weak to continue the conversation.
BETHANY: “Larry, I don’t feel good. Something is wrong. I think I need to lie down.”
Larry immediately moved closer and helped her settle back against the pillows.
LARRY: “Okay, sweetheart. Just relax. Maybe you’re tired from everything we’ve been doing today. Do you want me to get you some water?”
Bethany shook her head.
BETHANY: “No, Larry. I don’t think it’s just tiredness. I really don’t feel right.”
Larry’s expression became serious. He reached for his phone and called the cruise ship’s medical department.
LARRY: “Hello? I need medical assistance in our cabin immediately. My wife isn’t feeling well, and her condition seems to be getting worse.”
He ended the call and returned to Bethany’s side.
LARRY: “Help is coming, Bethany. Just stay with me. I’m right here.”
Bethany looked at him with worried eyes.
BETHANY: “Larry, I’m scared. I don’t know what’s happening to me.”
Larry held her hand.
LARRY: “Don’t be scared. We’re going to get you checked out. Everything is going to be okay.”
A few minutes later, two members of the medical team arrived with their equipment. They immediately began assessing Bethany while Larry stood nearby, anxiously watching every movement.
MEDICAL STAFF: “Sir, we need a little room to examine your wife. Please allow us to check her condition.”
Larry stepped back, but he couldn’t take his eyes off Bethany.
LARRY: “Please help her. She’s my wife, and I’ve never seen her like this before.”
After examining Bethany, the medical team explained that she needed further medical evaluation at a hospital on land. They recommended arranging an urgent transfer rather than waiting for the cruise to reach its next scheduled destination.
Larry looked shocked.
LARRY: “A hospital? Are you telling me she needs to leave the cruise?”
MEDICAL STAFF: “We believe she needs additional medical attention. We want to make sure she receives the proper care as soon as possible.”
Larry nodded immediately.
LARRY: “Then let’s go. Whatever needs to happen, just make sure she gets there safely.”
The cruise staff began arranging transportation while Larry gathered Bethany’s belongings. His hands were trembling as he picked up her purse and phone.
He returned to her side and gently touched her shoulder.
LARRY: “Bethany, we’re going to the hospital now. I’m coming with you. You’re not going anywhere alone.”
Bethany looked at him weakly.
BETHANY: “Larry, I’m sorry our vacation turned out this way.”
Larry’s eyes immediately filled with tears.
LARRY: “Don’t apologize to me. I don’t care about the cruise, the vacation, or anything else. All I care about is you getting better.”
Soon, Bethany was carefully transferred from the cruise ship to a waiting medical vehicle. Larry climbed inside and sat beside her, refusing to let go of her hand.
As the vehicle began moving, he looked at Bethany and struggled to hold back his emotions.
LARRY: “Baby, please talk to me. I need to know you’re okay. You’ve got to get through this.”
Bethany slowly turned her head toward him.
BETHANY: “I’m trying, Larry. I’m just so tired.”
Larry wiped the tears from his face.
LARRY: “I know. Just rest. I’ll handle everything else.”
When they finally arrived at the hospital, medical staff rushed Bethany inside for further evaluation. Larry followed closely behind until a nurse asked him to wait outside while the doctors examined her.
LARRY: “Please, can I stay with my wife? She needs me. I don’t want her waking up and wondering where I am.”
NURSE: “I understand, sir, but the doctors need some space to examine her. We’ll update you as soon as we can.”
Larry reluctantly stepped into the waiting area.
For the first time since leaving the cruise ship, he was completely alone. He sat down, covered his face with his hands, and began crying.
He remembered all the arguments they had experienced recently. He remembered the difficult conversations, the misunderstandings, and the moments when Bethany had asked him to pay attention to their marriage.
Now, all those arguments seemed meaningless.
LARRY: “Why is this happening? We were supposed to enjoy this cruise together. I wasn’t ready for something like this.”
He looked toward the hospital doors, hoping someone would come out with good news.
A few minutes later, his phone started ringing. It was Purnell.
Larry answered, trying to control his voice.
PURNELL: “Larry, where are you? I’ve been trying to reach you. Is everything okay?”
LARRY: “No, Purnell. Bethany is in the hospital. Her condition suddenly got worse on the cruise, and they had to bring her here.”
Purnell’s tone immediately changed.
PURNELL: “What? Bethany is in the hospital? What happened?”
LARRY: “I don’t know yet. The doctors are examining her. I’m sitting outside waiting for somebody to tell me what’s going on.”
PURNELL: “Larry, I’m sorry. Have they told you anything?”
LARRY: “Not yet. I’m scared, Purnell. I’ve never seen her like this.”
PURNELL: “Listen, brother. Stay strong. Bethany needs you. I’ll come as soon as I can.”
Larry ended the call and looked down at his hands. He couldn’t stop thinking about Bethany lying inside that hospital room.
Meanwhile, the medical team continued examining Bethany. After some time, a doctor finally came out and approached Larry.
Larry immediately stood up.
LARRY: “Doctor, please tell me. How is my wife? Is she going to be okay?”
DOCTOR: “We’ve completed the initial assessment. We are continuing with some tests because we need to understand what caused her sudden condition.”
Larry looked worried.
LARRY: “Can I see her?”
DOCTOR: “You may see her briefly, but she needs rest while we continue monitoring her.”
Larry followed the doctor into the room.
When he saw Bethany lying in the hospital bed, his emotions overwhelmed him. He walked toward her slowly and sat beside her.
LARRY: “Bethany, I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
He gently held her hand as tears rolled down his face.
LARRY: “You know how much you mean to me? I know we haven’t had an easy time lately, but I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. I want us to have more time together. I want us to go back home and forget about all these problems.”
Bethany slowly opened her eyes.
BETHANY: “Larry, are you crying?”
Larry tried to smile, but his tears continued falling.
LARRY: “How can I not cry? Seeing you lying here like this is breaking my heart.”
Bethany gently squeezed his hand.
BETHANY: “I didn’t want you to see me like this.”
LARRY: “Don’t say that. I want to be here for you, even when things are difficult. You’re my wife, Bethany.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Larry simply sat beside her, holding her hand and hoping the doctors would bring better news.
Then the doctor returned with the latest test results. His expression was serious, and Larry immediately stood up.
LARRY: “Doctor, what’s happening? Have you found out what’s wrong?”
The doctor looked at Bethany, then turned toward Larry.
DOCTOR: “Mr. Larry, there’s something important we need to discuss about your wife’s condition. I would like to speak with you privately.”
Larry looked at Bethany and then back at the doctor.
LARRY: “Why privately? Whatever it is, you can tell me right here. I don’t want any surprises.”
The doctor paused before responding.
DOCTOR: “I understand, but the results have raised some concerns, and we need to discuss the next steps.”
Larry’s heart sank. He looked at Bethany, who was now watching them with frightened eyes.
BETHANY: “Larry, what’s wrong? Why does the doctor want to speak to you privately?”
Larry had no answer. He looked at the doctor, waiting for an explanation.
But before the doctor could continue, another nurse rushed into the room and whispered something to him.
The doctor’s expression suddenly changed.
DOCTOR: “Mr. Larry, I’m sorry, but we need to act quickly. Please wait outside for a moment.”
Larry looked at Bethany and held her hand one last time before the medical team moved closer to the bed.
LARRY: “Bethany! What’s happening? Doctor, please tell me what’s going on!”
And as the hospital staff began preparing for the next step in Bethany’s treatment, Larry stood outside the room, crying and desperately waiting for someone to tell him whether his wife would be okay.
