WELCOME
The house is quiet. Angelina is sitting in the living room when she suddenly hears a knock at the door.
Another knock comes from outside. Angelina slowly gets up and walks toward the entrance.
She opens the door and sees Anthony standing outside.
ANGELINA
What are you doing here?
Angelina’s expression becomes serious. Anthony remains calm.
ANTHONY
Angelina, please. Just let me come inside first. Then I’ll explain everything.
Angelina finally steps aside and allows Anthony to enter the house.
Anthony walks into the living room while Angelina follows behind him.
Angelina sits down on the sofa and waits for Anthony to explain why he came.
ANGELINA
Well? What did you come here to tell me?
ANTHONY
You said something about D’Nisha.
ANGELINA
What did I say?
ANTHONY
You said D’Nisha doesn’t really care about Kai.
ANGELINA
Because that’s what I believe.
Anthony slowly shakes his head.
ANTHONY
That’s exactly why I came here.
Angelina watches him carefully.
ANGELINA
Anthony, I’ve seen enough. I know what I think about D’Nisha.
Anthony takes out his phone.
ANTHONY
Maybe you should see something before you make that judgment.
Anthony unlocks his phone and opens his photo gallery.
ANTHONY
Pictures of D’Nisha and Kai.
Angelina looks at the screen with a skeptical expression.
ANGELINA
Pictures don’t prove anything.
ANTHONY
Just look at them.
Anthony turns the phone toward Angelina.
The first picture appears. D’Nisha is sitting beside Kai, smiling warmly. Kai is smiling too.
Angelina looks at the picture. Her expression begins to change.
ANTHONY
You said she doesn’t care about him.
Anthony swipes to another picture.
ANTHONY
But look at how she treats him.
Anthony continues showing Angelina pictures of D’Nisha and Kai together.
ANTHONY
She spends time with him.
ANTHONY
She makes sure he’s okay.
ANTHONY
She worries about him.
ANTHONY
And when Kai needs someone, she’s there for him.
Angelina becomes quieter. Her confidence begins to disappear.
Angelina keeps staring at the screen.
ANGELINA
I didn’t know about these pictures.
ANTHONY
Exactly.
Anthony shows her another picture. D’Nisha and Kai are together, looking happy.
ANGELINA
She really looks happy with him.
ANTHONY
Because she is.
Angelina looks at another picture. Her eyes widen.
ANGELINA
I never saw this side of her.
ANTHONY
Because you only heard one side of the story.
Angelina looks down at the phone.
ANGELINA
She really treats him like he’s her own child.
ANTHONY
That’s what I’ve been telling you.
Angelina looks away for a moment, thinking about everything she previously believed.
ANGELINA
Maybe I was wrong about her.
Anthony remains quiet and lets Angelina process what she has seen.
ANGELINA
Anthony, why didn’t you show me these pictures before?
ANTHONY
Because I didn’t think I needed to prove anything. But when you said D’Nisha doesn’t care about Kai, I knew you needed to see what I’ve seen.
ANGELINA
I honestly didn’t expect to see those pictures.
ANTHONY
Neither did you expect to see how close they really are.
Angelina slowly nods.
ANGELINA
I thought D’Nisha was only pretending.
ANTHONY
You can’t always see what’s in someone’s heart from the outside.
Angelina looks directly at Anthony.
ANTHONY
Sometimes you have to look at what they actually do.
ANGELINA
I judged her too quickly.
ANTHONY
That’s all I wanted you to understand.
ANGELINA
Maybe I owe D’Nisha an apology.
ANTHONY
Maybe you do.
Angelina looks at the phone one more time. The pictures of D’Nisha and Kai remain fresh in her mind.
ANGELINA
I still have questions.
ANTHONY
Ask me.
ANGELINA
There’s something else I want to know.
Anthony waits.
ANGELINA
If D’Nisha cares about Kai this much, then why have I heard so many different things about her?
Anthony’s expression becomes serious.

ANGELINA
Then tell me the whole story.
Anthony takes a deep breath.
ANTHONY
