✨ Enter the Story — Where Every Moment Has a Secret ✨
SCENE 1 — SHAYLA’S MOM’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The room is quiet. Shayla’s mom sits on the edge of the couch, visibly shaken. Her eyes are filled with frustration and hurt.
Shayla notices her mother’s expression and immediately walks over.
SHAYLA
Mom, what happened? Why do you look so upset?
Her mother takes a slow breath, struggling to hold back her emotions.
SHAYLA’S MOM
Anthony…
SHAYLA
What did Anthony do?
Her mother looks down at her hands.
SHAYLA’S MOM
He got angry with me. I tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t listen.
SHAYLA
And then what happened?
SHAYLA’S MOM
He pushed me out of his house.
Shayla freezes. Her jaw tightens. Her anger is impossible to hide.
SHAYLA
He pushed you?
SHAYLA’S MOM
Yes. He was angry, and he told me to leave.
SHAYLA
He had no right to treat you like that.
SHAYLA’S MOM
Shayla, please. Just let it go.
SHAYLA
No, Mom. I’m not letting this go.
She grabs her purse and heads toward the door.
SHAYLA’S MOM
Shayla, where are you going?
SHAYLA
I’m going to talk to Anthony.
She walks out.
SCENE 2 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATER
Shayla arrives at Anthony’s house. She steps out of her car and walks toward the front door with determination.
Her breathing is heavy. She knocks.
ANTHONY
Shayla? What are you doing here?
SHAYLA
You know exactly why I’m here.
ANTHONY
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
SHAYLA
My mom told me what you did.
ANTHONY
This isn’t your business.
SHAYLA
It became my business when you put your hands on my mother!
Anthony looks away.
ANTHONY
You don’t know the whole story.
SHAYLA
I know enough. You had no right to push her out of your house like she was nothing.
ANTHONY
I told her to leave because I was angry. Things got out of control.
SHAYLA
That’s your excuse? You couldn’t control your temper, so you took it out on my mom?
ANTHONY
Watch how you talk to me.
SHAYLA
No. You watch how you treat people.
The tension at the doorway becomes unbearable.
SHAYLA
You should be ashamed of yourself.
ANTHONY
You came here just to insult me?
SHAYLA
I’m telling you exactly what you deserve to hear.
Unknown to Shayla and Anthony, D’Nisha has been listening from inside.
SCENE 3 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE — CONTINUOUS
D’Nisha steps into view. Her eyes are locked on Shayla.
D’NISHA
That’s enough.
SHAYLA
Excuse me?
D’NISHA
You don’t get to come into this house and disrespect Anthony.
SHAYLA
I’m talking about what he did to my mother.
D’NISHA
And I’m telling you to stop.
SHAYLA
Why? Because you don’t want to hear the truth?
D’Nisha’s breathing becomes heavier.
D’NISHA
She has been standing here insulting you over and over again!
SHAYLA
Maybe he should have thought about that before he pushed my mom.
D’NISHA
Don’t talk about him like that!
SHAYLA
I’ll say whatever I want.
D’Nisha suddenly steps forward.
D’NISHA LOSES CONTROL.
She rushes toward Shayla and shoves her backward. Shayla stumbles.
SHAYLA
Hey!
Before Shayla can recover, D’Nisha grabs her by the hair.
Shayla cries out in pain.
SHAYLA
Ah! Let go of me!
ANTHONY
D’Nisha! Stop!
D’NISHA
You don’t come into my house and disrespect the people I care about!
SHAYLA
You’re hurting me! Let go of my hair!
Anthony grabs D’Nisha’s arm and pulls her away.
ANTHONY
That’s enough! Let her go!
D’Nisha finally releases Shayla. Shayla stumbles away, holding her head and catching her breath.
SCENE 4 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE — MOMENTS LATER
The room falls silent. Shayla looks at D’Nisha in disbelief.
SHAYLA
You actually put your hands on me?
D’NISHA
You pushed me too far.
SHAYLA
I didn’t touch you!
Anthony steps between them.
ANTHONY
Both of you, stop.
SHAYLA
She attacked me because I told the truth.
D’NISHA
I was angry.
SHAYLA
Being angry doesn’t give you the right to hurt somebody.
ANTHONY
She’s right. You shouldn’t have touched her.
Shayla wipes the tears from her eyes.
SHAYLA
And you shouldn’t have pushed my mother.
The words hang heavily in the room.
SHAYLA
I’m leaving. But don’t ever treat my mother like that again.
Shayla walks out. The door closes behind her.
Inside the house, D’Nisha stands frozen. Anthony looks at her with disappointment.
ANTHONY
That went too far.
D’Nisha lowers her eyes. For the first time, she realizes how far her anger had taken her.
Outside, Shayla walks toward her car, still shaken. She takes one final breath and looks back at the house.
Her expression is hurt, angry, and determined.
Then she gets into her car and drives away.
