Amber’s Secret Past With Wayne Comes to Light
A Dramatic Cinematic Screenplay
SCENE 1 — AMBER’S HOUSE — EARLY EVENING
The living room is quiet. Amber and Dave are sitting together, having a conversation. At first, everything seems normal, but Dave appears distracted. He keeps looking at Amber as if something has been bothering him for a while.
Finally, Dave decides to ask the question that has been on his mind.
DAVE
“Amber, can I ask you something about Wayne?”
Amber’s smile slowly disappears. She looks down, suddenly uncomfortable.
AMBER
“Why are you asking me about Wayne?”
DAVE
“Because I keep hearing his name, and lately I feel like there’s something you’re not telling me.”
Amber takes a deep breath. She knows that she cannot avoid the truth anymore.
AMBER
“Dave… there is something you need to know.”
Dave’s expression becomes serious.
DAVE
“What is it?”
Amber looks directly into his eyes.
AMBER
“Wayne and I have a history.”
Dave becomes confused.
DAVE
“What kind of history?”
Amber hesitates before finally telling him the truth.
AMBER
“We were together before. Wayne is my ex-boyfriend.”
Dave becomes completely shocked. He stands up and walks away for a moment, trying to process what he has just heard.
DAVE
“You and Wayne were together?”
AMBER
“Yes.”
Dave turns back toward her.
DAVE
“Why didn’t you tell me this before?”
AMBER
“I was scared.”
DAVE
“Scared of what? Me?”
AMBER
“I was scared that you would look at me differently.”
SCENE 2 — DAVE’S ANGER
Dave shakes his head. His disappointment is becoming stronger with every second.
DAVE
“Amber, you should have trusted me enough to tell me the truth.”
Amber becomes emotional.
AMBER
“I wanted to tell you. I just didn’t know how.”
Dave takes a deep breath.
DAVE
“And now you’re working with him?”
Amber looks away.
AMBER
“Yes.”
DAVE
“So let me understand this. You used to be in a relationship with Wayne, Wayne is your ex, and now you’re working with him?”
AMBER
“It’s not what you think.”
DAVE
“Then what am I supposed to think?”
Amber steps closer.
AMBER
“Wayne and I ended our relationship a long time ago. There is nothing happening between us now.”
Dave looks at her with anger and disappointment.
DAVE
“But you kept it from me!”
AMBER
“I know.”
DAVE
“You looked me in the eyes every day and never told me.”
Amber wipes a tear from her cheek.
AMBER
“I was afraid that if I told you, I would lose you.”
Dave turns away, struggling to control his emotions.
SCENE 3 — THE QUESTIONS
Dave sits down again, but his expression remains serious. Amber sits across from him.
DAVE
“Did Wayne know about me?”
Amber hesitates.
AMBER
“Yes.”
Dave looks shocked again.
DAVE
“So he knew you were with me?”
AMBER
“Yes.”
DAVE
“And you still continued working with him?”
AMBER
“Dave, our work has nothing to do with what happened between us.”
DAVE
“Maybe not to you.”
Amber looks hurt.
AMBER
“What are you saying?”
DAVE
“I’m saying I don’t know what to believe anymore.”
Amber reaches toward him.
AMBER
“You can believe that I care about you.”
Dave looks down.
DAVE
“Then why did you hide Wayne from me?”
AMBER
“Because I was afraid you would think I still had feelings for him.”
DAVE
“Do you?”
Amber immediately shakes her head.
AMBER
“No. Wayne is part of my past.”
SCENE 4 — AMBER FIGHTS FOR DAVE’S TRUST
Amber moves closer to Dave. Her voice becomes softer.
AMBER
“Dave, please listen to me. What Wayne and I had is over. It ended before you and I became serious.”
DAVE
“Then why didn’t you tell me?”
AMBER
“Because I was afraid you would think I still had feelings for him.”
Dave looks at her carefully.
DAVE
“Are you sure you don’t?”
AMBER
“I’m sure. You are the person I chose to be with.”
For a moment, Dave’s anger begins to soften.
DAVE
“Then prove it.”
AMBER
“How?”
DAVE
“By being completely honest with me from now on.”
Amber nods.
AMBER
“I will.”
DAVE
“I need some time to process all of this.”
AMBER
“I understand.”
SCENE 5 — WAYNE’S PHONE CALL
Suddenly, Amber’s phone begins ringing.
Amber looks at the screen.
WAYNE — INCOMING CALL
Dave notices the name immediately.
DAVE
“Is that Wayne?”
AMBER
“Yes.”
Dave takes a step back.
DAVE
“Answer it.”
Amber hesitates, then answers.
AMBER
“Hello?”
WAYNE
“Amber, we need to talk about work tomorrow.”
Amber glances nervously at Dave.
AMBER
“Okay. We can talk about it tomorrow.”
She ends the call.
Dave looks at her with disappointment.
DAVE
“See? That’s exactly what I mean.”
AMBER
“He was only calling about work.”
DAVE
“I know. But now every time I hear his name, I’m going to wonder what else you haven’t told me.”
SCENE 6 — THE FINAL WARNING
Amber gently reaches for Dave’s hand.
AMBER
“I promise there is nothing else.”
Dave looks at her hand before finally looking into her eyes.
DAVE
“I want to believe you.”
Amber’s eyes fill with tears.
AMBER
“Then give me a chance to earn your trust again.”
Dave nods slowly.
DAVE
“I’ll give you a chance.”
Amber breathes a sigh of relief.
But Dave has one final warning.
DAVE
“But if I find out you lied to me again, Amber, things between us will never be the same.”
Amber nods seriously.
AMBER
“I understand.”
Dave walks toward the door. Before leaving, he stops and turns around.
DAVE
“And Amber… next time, tell me the truth before I have to find out from someone else.”
Dave walks away.
FINAL MOMENT
Amber remains standing alone in the living room. Tears roll down her face as she looks at her phone.
Wayne’s name is still visible on the screen.
AMBER
“I never thought my past would come back and threaten my future.”
The camera slowly pulls away from Amber.
The room becomes silent.
Amber knows that telling Dave the truth was necessary, but she also realizes that her past with Wayne may create a much bigger problem than she expected.
Across town, Wayne has no idea that his history with Amber has just created a serious conflict between Amber and Dave.
