Angelina Slaps D’Nisha After Seeing Her Treat Kai Badly

SCENE 1 — ANTHONY’S HOUSE — LATE AFTERNOON
The afternoon is quiet at Anthony’s house. Anthony is inside the living room with Kai, while D’Nisha is nearby. Kai looks tired and uncomfortable. Suddenly, there is a firm knock at the front door.
Anthony walks toward the door and opens it. He immediately sees Angelina standing outside. She looks serious and determined.
ANTHONY
“Angelina? What are you doing here?”
ANGELINA
“I came to get Kai. I told you I was coming for him today.”
Anthony steps aside and allows her to enter. Angelina immediately looks around the room. Her eyes finally land on Kai.
Angelina notices that Kai does not look happy. She quickly walks over and reaches for him.
ANGELINA
“Kai, come here, baby. What happened? Why does he look so upset?”
Angelina picks Kai up and holds him close. D’Nisha watches the scene with an annoyed expression.
D’NISHA
“Nothing happened. He was just being difficult.”
ANGELINA
“Difficult? He’s a child, D’Nisha.”
D’Nisha folds her arms and looks directly at Angelina.
D’NISHA
“You don’t have to lecture me. I know how to take care of him.”
SCENE 2 — THE CONFRONTATION BEGINS
Angelina looks down at Kai and then back at D’Nisha. She can see that something is wrong, and her concern quickly turns into anger.
ANGELINA
“Then why does he look scared?”
ANTHONY
“Angelina, calm down. Let’s talk about this.”
ANGELINA
“I am calm. But I’m not going to pretend I don’t see what’s happening.”
D’Nisha becomes defensive. She believes Angelina has come into the house looking for an argument.
D’NISHA
“You always come here looking for something to complain about.”
ANGELINA
“I’m not looking for anything. I’m looking at my child.”
The atmosphere inside the house becomes tense. Anthony realizes that the conversation is quickly getting out of control.
ANTHONY
“Both of you, stop. This is not helping Kai.”
ANGELINA
“You should have noticed this before I did.”
ANTHONY
“Don’t blame me for something I didn’t know about.”
D’Nisha interrupts the conversation, making Angelina even more frustrated.
D’NISHA
“Exactly. Angelina just wants to make me look bad.”
ANGELINA
“You don’t need my help to do that.”
THE SHOCKING MOMENT
D’Nisha becomes furious after Angelina’s comment. The two women stand face-to-face, exchanging angry words. Angelina insists that her only concern is Kai’s well-being. D’Nisha tells her to take Kai and leave.

“That does not give you the right to put your hands on her!”

“Anthony, did you see that?”
ANTHONY
“Yes, I saw it.”
D’NISHA
“She attacked me in your house!”
ANGELINA
“I reacted because you were disrespecting me and treating Kai badly.”
Anthony looks toward Kai. The child is still holding tightly onto Angelina. Anthony begins to realize that the situation may be more serious than he first thought.
SCENE 4 — ANTHONY QUESTIONS D’NISHA
Anthony takes a deep breath and decides that he needs to understand exactly what happened before Angelina arrived.
ANTHONY
“D’Nisha, I need you to tell me exactly what happened before Angelina arrived.”
D’NISHA
“You’re questioning me now?”
ANTHONY
“Yes. Because I need to know the truth.”
D’Nisha hesitates before explaining that Kai had been acting up. She says she told him to sit down and calm himself. Angelina immediately becomes suspicious of the explanation.
ANGELINA
“I don’t believe you.”
ANTHONY
“Angelina, let me handle this.”
Angelina becomes quiet. Anthony kneels near Kai and speaks to him gently.
ANTHONY
“Kai, Daddy is here. Are you okay?”

“Anthony, you’re not seriously going to let Angelina take Kai away because of this.”

SCENE 6 — ANGELINA LEAVES WITH KAI
Angelina walks toward the front door while holding Kai. Before leaving, she turns around and looks at Anthony one more time.
ANGELINA
“Anthony, I hope you really mean what you just said.”
ANTHONY
“I do.”
Angelina leaves the house with Kai. Outside, she carries him toward her car and gently comforts him.
ANGELINA
“You’re coming home with me, baby. Everything is going to be okay.”
Kai rests his head against Angelina’s shoulder. Angelina gets into the car and drives away.
SCENE 7 — WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Back inside the house, Anthony remains standing in the living room. He is angry about Angelina slapping D’Nisha, but he is also deeply concerned about Kai.
D’Nisha looks at him with frustration.
D’NISHA
“You embarrassed me today.”
ANTHONY
“No, D’Nisha. What happened today embarrassed all of us.”
D’Nisha turns away without saying another word. Anthony walks toward the window and looks outside, wondering how everything became so complicated.
