SCENE 1 — LARRY’S HOUSE — EVENING
The atmosphere inside the house is tense. Sharra storms through the front door, her face filled with anger. Bethany immediately realizes that something is wrong.
SHARRA
You knew, Bethany. You knew exactly what was going to happen to my Mom!
BETHANY
I did what I thought was right. You can’t blame me for everything that happens to your family.
Sharra steps closer. Her anger becomes impossible to hide.
SHARRA
You called the police!
BETHANY
Yes. I did.
SHARRA
You destroyed my family!
Sharra moves toward Bethany, but Larry immediately steps between them.
LARRY
Sharra, stop! You’re angry, but you’re not going to fight Bethany in this house.
SHARRA
So you’re protecting her now?
LARRY
I’m trying to stop this from becoming something worse.
Sharra stares at Larry before turning toward the door.
SHARRA
Fine. But this isn’t over.
The door slams behind her.
SCENE 2 — SHARRA’S CAR — NIGHT
Sharra sits alone in her car. Streetlights pass across her face as she drives. She keeps replaying the confrontation in her mind.
SHARRA
She thinks she can get away with this.
Sharra grips the steering wheel tightly. Her anger has not disappeared.
SHARRA
She has no idea what’s coming.
SCENE 3 — BETHANY’S HOUSE — LATE NIGHT
The neighborhood is quiet. Bethany is peacefully asleep in her bedroom, completely unaware of what is happening outside.
Sharra secretly returns to the house. She looks toward Bethany’s bedroom, consumed by anger.
A fire breaks out. Smoke begins spreading through the room. Bethany suddenly wakes up and realizes that something is seriously wrong.
BETHANY
What is happening?
Bethany gets out of bed and tries to reach the door while calling for help.
BETHANY
Help! Somebody help me!
SCENE 4 — OUTSIDE THE HOUSE
Sharra has already left the area. She looks back once before continuing into the night. Her anger begins to fade as she realizes the seriousness of what she has done.
SHARRA
I just wanted her to feel what my family felt.
SCENE 5 — THE RESCUE
A neighbor notices the emergency and calls for help. Emergency responders arrive while Bethany struggles to get to safety.
NEIGHBOR
Is anyone inside?
BETHANY
Yes! I’m in here!
The emergency crew works quickly. Bethany is eventually brought outside safely, shaken by everything that has happened.
SCENE 6 — LARRY ARRIVES
Larry receives a phone call and immediately rushes to Bethany’s house. When he sees Bethany outside, his expression changes from fear to relief.
LARRY
Bethany! Are you okay?
BETHANY
I’m okay… but I don’t understand what happened.
LARRY
Someone did this.
Larry looks toward the house, then remembers Sharra’s warning earlier that evening.
SCENE 7 — THE INVESTIGATION
Authorities begin investigating the incident. Bethany explains what happened earlier.
INVESTIGATOR
Bethany, did anyone threaten you recently?
BETHANY
Sharra was furious with me because of her Mom.
LARRY
I tried to stop them from fighting. I never thought things would go this far.
INVESTIGATOR
Did Sharra say anything that made you feel threatened?
BETHANY
She said she wanted revenge.
SCENE 8 — SHARRA ALONE
Meanwhile, Sharra sits alone in her car. The anger that pushed her toward revenge has been replaced by fear and uncertainty.
Her phone begins ringing. She looks at the screen but doesn’t answer.
SHARRA
What have I done?
For the first time, Sharra understands that her actions may have consequences far beyond what she imagined.
SCENE 9 — THE AFTERMATH
Back at Bethany’s house, the investigation continues. Bethany is safe, but the terrifying night has changed everything.
BETHANY
Why would she do this to me?
LARRY
Because she was angry. But that doesn’t make what happened okay.
Bethany looks toward the damaged house, realizing that the conflict with Sharra has entered a completely different stage.
SCENE 10 — THE FINAL QUESTION
The night slowly comes to an end, but the consequences are only beginning. Sharra wanted revenge against Bethany, but now the police investigation could expose everything.
Will Bethany remain safe after this terrifying night?
And what consequences will Sharra face when the truth comes out?
