Dave Finds Out Amber Still Works for Her Ex Wayne

When Dave Finds Out Amber Is Still Working for Her Ex Wayne — He Kicks Her Out!

INT. DAVE AND AMBER’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — EVENING

The house is quiet. Amber sits on the couch, scrolling through her phone, looking tired and distracted. Dave walks in carrying a glass of water and watches her before sitting down. An uncomfortable silence settles between them.

DAVE: “Amber, can I ask you something? It’s about Wayne.”

Amber’s expression instantly changes. She sets her phone down, suddenly guarded.

AMBER: “Wayne? What about him?” DAVE: “I’ve been hearing his name a lot lately. Every time I ask where you’re going, somehow he’s involved.”

Amber takes a slow breath, trying to find the right words.

AMBER: “Dave, it’s not what you think… Wayne is my boss.”

Dave freezes, stunned.

DAVE: “Your boss? Since when? And you never thought that was something you should tell me?” AMBER: “I just didn’t know how to bring it up.”

Dave presses further, his suspicion deepening, until Amber finally admits the truth.

AMBER: “Wayne and I used to date. A long time ago.”

Dave lets out a bitter laugh, disbelief turning into anger.

DAVE: “So Wayne is your ex… and now he’s your boss? You have got to be kidding me.” AMBER: “Whatever happened between us is over. I need this job — there wasn’t another offer that came through as quickly.” DAVE: “There are other jobs! You chose to work for your ex and didn’t think I’d have a problem with that?”

Amber’s eyes fill with tears as the argument escalates.

AMBER: “I was afraid you’d leave me if I told you the truth.”
DAVE: “You know what hurts the most? It’s not even Wayne — it’s that you kept this from me.” AMBER: “I was trying to protect our relationship!” DAVE: “By lying to me?”

Dave walks to the door, unable to look at her any longer.

DAVE: “I need some space. I can’t trust you right now. I need you to leave.”

Amber stares at him, shaken, as she slowly gathers her purse and phone.

AMBER: “I love you, Dave.”

Dave says nothing. Amber steps outside, and the door closes behind her.

Standing alone on the porch, tears streaming down her face, Amber pulls out her phone and hesitates over Wayne’s name.

AMBER: “No… I’m not calling him.”

Instead, she calls someone else, her voice steadying into determination.

AMBER: “Dave just kicked me out. I don’t know where I’m going tonight, but I’m not going back to Wayne. I need to figure this out myself.”

Inside, Dave leans against the closed door. His anger begins to fade as he notices Amber’s phone charger still plugged into the wall. Regret crosses his face.

DAVE: “Maybe I went too far.”
Amber walks into the night without looking back.
Will she fight to save her relationship with Dave?
Will she confront Wayne and quit her job?
Or will something from her past come back to complicate everything?
