Amber Tells Dave About Wayne
Amber Tells Dave About Wayne

The Evening Everything Changed

The evening at Dave’s house was unusually quiet. The lights were low, the television was playing softly in the background, and Dave was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone.

Dave had noticed something different about Amber lately. She had been distant. Every time Dave asked if something was wrong, she simply smiled and said everything was fine.

But that night, Amber walked through the front door with a serious expression on her face. Dave immediately looked up.

“Amber, what’s going on?”

Amber paused for a moment before sitting across from him.

“We need to talk.”

Dave put his phone down and gave her his full attention.

“Okay. Talk to me.”

Amber took a deep breath. She knew there was no easy way to say what she had come to tell him.

“It’s about me and Wayne.”

Dave’s expression changed instantly.

“Wayne?”

Amber nodded.

“Yes. Wayne.”

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. Dave leaned forward, trying to understand what Amber was about to reveal.

“What about you and Wayne?”

Amber looked down at her hands.

“There’s been a lot happening between us that you don’t know about.”

Dave shook his head. He wanted the truth directly from Amber rather than hearing another version from someone else.

“Then tell me. I’d rather hear the truth from you than hear it from somebody else.”

Amber looked directly at him.

“That’s exactly why I’m here.”

She explained that she and Wayne had been spending more time talking recently. At first, it had seemed harmless. They talked about life, family, problems, and things they were both dealing with.

But eventually, their conversations became more serious.

Dave Demands Honesty

“So you’re telling me there was something going on?”

Amber quickly responded, explaining that things had become complicated and that she should have talked to him sooner.

“You knew I would have questions.”
“You knew this would hurt me.”

Amber’s eyes filled with emotion.

“I know that too.”

Dave turned toward the window, trying to process everything he was hearing.

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

Amber struggled to answer.

“Because I was scared.”
“Scared of what?”
“Scared of losing people. Scared of being judged. Scared that once I told the truth, everything would change.”

Dave stared at her before asking the question that made the room even quieter.

“And now?”

Amber took another breath.

“Now everything has already changed.”

The room became silent. Dave slowly sat back down.

“Did Wayne tell you to keep this from me?”

Amber shook her head.

“No. This was my decision.”

Dave nodded slowly.

“That matters.”

Amber looked surprised that Dave was trying to understand the situation instead of immediately reacting.

“You’re not angry?”
“I am angry. But I’m trying to understand before I react.”

Amber wiped her eyes.

“I never wanted things to become this complicated.”

Dave looked at her carefully.

“Then what do you want now?”

Amber remained quiet for several seconds.

“I want honesty. I want everyone to stop pretending everything is okay when it isn’t.”

Dave sighed before asking the biggest question of the night.

“What exactly is Wayne to you?”

Amber looked toward the floor.

“That’s the question I’ve been asking myself.”

Dave’s expression softened slightly.

“You don’t know?”
“I know that Wayne became important to me. But I also know that I don’t want to make decisions based on confusion.”

No More Secrets

Dave understood that Amber was struggling with a complicated situation. Instead of forcing her to make an immediate decision, he encouraged her to be honest and take time to understand what she truly wanted.

“Then maybe you don’t need to choose tonight.”
“Sometimes the worst decisions happen when people feel pressured to choose immediately.”

Amber nodded, but Dave had one final condition.

“From now on, no more secrets.”

Amber looked at him and nodded.

“No more secrets.”

Just as the tension began to settle, Amber’s phone suddenly buzzed. She looked at the screen. Dave immediately noticed her reaction.

“Is that Wayne?”

Amber hesitated before answering.

“Yes.”

Dave looked at her calmly.

“You should answer it.”

Amber stared at the phone before slowly picking it up.

“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”

Amber answered the call.

“Hello?”

Wayne’s voice came through.

“Amber, we need to talk.”
“I know.”

Amber glanced at Dave before walking toward the other room. Dave watched silently as she disappeared around the corner.

For the first time that night, Amber looked completely certain about one thing: the secrets were over.

Whatever happened next between Amber, Dave, and Wayne, there would be no more hiding.

Sometimes, telling the truth doesn’t end the drama.
It’s where the real drama begins.
