🔥 Dave Pulls Up On Wayne And Brings Amber Into The Conversation!
Dave had been thinking about the situation all morning. Amber had already told him that Wayne was upset because she was late to the podcast meeting, but Dave felt like there was more behind Wayne’s reaction.
Amber had been with him that morning, and Wayne’s response had been much stronger than Dave expected.
Dave finally decided he wasn’t going to sit back and let Amber keep getting caught in the middle. He wanted answers, and he wanted them directly from Wayne.
Later that afternoon, Dave walked into the room where Wayne was handling business. Wayne looked up and immediately noticed the serious expression on Dave’s face.
Wayne: “What’s up, Dave?”
Dave didn’t sit down. He stood there for a moment, looking directly at Wayne.
Dave: “We need to talk about Amber.”
Wayne leaned back.
Wayne: “About Amber? What’s going on?”
Dave: “That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Because Amber told me you were checking her about being late to the podcast.”
Wayne shook his head.
Wayne: “I wasn’t checking her. I was talking to her about business.”
Dave: “Business? That’s what we’re calling it?”
Wayne: “What are you trying to say?”
Dave: “I’m saying you seemed real bothered that she was with me.”
Wayne immediately looked away.
Wayne: “Man, this ain’t about you.”
Dave: “Then tell me what it’s about.”
For a moment, neither man said anything.
Wayne finally stood up.
Wayne: “Amber has responsibilities. She knows what she’s supposed to do. If there’s a meeting, she’s supposed to be there. That’s it.”
Dave nodded slowly.
Dave: “Okay. So if that’s all it is, why did you have such a problem with her being with me?”
Wayne stared at him.
Wayne: “Because she was supposed to be at the podcast.”
Dave: “But she wasn’t. And you knew exactly where she was.”
Wayne: “Dave, don’t make something out of nothing.”
Dave stepped closer.
Dave: “I’m not making anything out of nothing. I’m telling you what I saw. Amber was enjoying her morning with me. Then she starts getting calls because Wayne is upset she’s not at the podcast.”
Wayne: “You don’t understand what’s going on behind the scenes.”
Dave: “Then explain it.”
Wayne didn’t answer.
That silence told Dave everything he needed to know.
Dave: “That’s what I thought.”
Wayne: “Don’t come in here thinking you know everything.”
Dave: “I don’t think I know everything. But I know Amber deserves to make her own decisions.”
Wayne: “And I’m stopping her from doing that?”
Dave: “Sometimes, it looks like you are.”
The tension in the room grew heavier.
Wayne: “You really think Amber should put you before everything else?”
Dave: “That’s not what I said.”
Wayne: “Then what are you saying?”
Dave: “I’m saying you can’t expect everybody to put the podcast first just because that’s what you want.”
Wayne paused.
Wayne: “The podcast isn’t just some little thing. It’s an opportunity.”
Dave: “I agree. But Amber can build something for herself without having to answer to you every time she makes a personal decision.”
Wayne looked toward the table, clearly irritated.
Wayne: “So now you’re speaking for Amber?”
Dave: “No. I’m speaking for myself. Amber can speak for herself.”
At that exact moment, Amber walked into the room.
She immediately noticed the tension between them.
Amber: “What’s going on?”
Dave looked at Amber, then back at Wayne.
Dave: “I came to talk to Wayne because I didn’t like the way you were being checked about being late.”
Amber: “Dave, you actually came here?”
Dave: “Yeah. Because I wanted to clear it up.”
Wayne: “You told him about our conversation?”
Amber: “Of course I did. He’s my man. Why wouldn’t I tell him?”
Wayne became silent.
Dave: “That’s the part I need you to understand. Whatever you have going on with Amber, you need to respect her choices.”
Wayne: “And what happens when everybody starts choosing their personal lives over the opportunity?”
Amber: “Then maybe you need to trust the people you gave the opportunity to.”
The room went completely quiet.
Wayne looked at Amber, then at Dave.
But before anyone could say another word, Wayne’s phone suddenly rang.
He looked at the screen.
His expression changed instantly.
Amber: “Who is that?”
Wayne didn’t answer.
Dave: “What’s wrong?”
Wayne slowly turned the phone face down.
Wayne: “It’s about the lawyer.”
Amber froze.
Dave: “The lawyer?”
Wayne stared at both of them.
Wayne: “Yeah. And now I need to know exactly what you two already know.”
