The Lie That Finally Got Bethany Arrested

The Lie That Finally Got Bethany Arrested

The front door suddenly swung open.

Bethany froze when two police officers stepped inside.

Officer: “Bethany?”

Bethany: “Yes… that’s me. What is this about?”

Officer: “You need to come with us.”

Bethany’s face changed immediately.

Bethany: “Come with you? Why?”

Before she could say anything else, Larry rushed into the room.

Larry: “Wait! What’s going on?”

Officer: “There has been a complaint filed against Bethany. We need to take her in for questioning.”

Larry looked at Bethany, then back at the officers.

Larry: “What complaint?”

Bethany: “I have no idea. I haven’t done anything!”

Then Larry noticed Brooke standing several feet away.

Brooke wasn’t shocked. She wasn’t scared. She was simply watching.

And there was something about the tiny smile on her face that made Larry suspicious.

Larry Starts Questioning Brooke

Larry: “Brooke…”

Brooke: “What?”

Larry: “Why do you look like you already knew this was coming?”

Brooke: “Maybe because I knew the truth would eventually come out.”

Bethany immediately protested.

Bethany: “What truth? Brooke, what are you talking about?”

Brooke: “You’ll find out.”

Larry stepped between them.

Larry: “Officer, hold on. Something isn’t right here.”

Officer: “Sir, we understand you’re concerned, but we have a complaint that we have to investigate.”

Larry: “You can’t just take her because somebody made a complaint!”

Officer: “We aren’t saying she’s guilty. We’re taking her in so we can investigate.”

Bethany Begs Larry to Believe Her

Bethany: “Larry, please don’t let them take me. I swear I didn’t do anything.”

Larry: “I believe you. I’m going to figure this out.”

As Bethany walked toward the door, Larry followed.

Larry: “Wait! Officer!”

Officer: “What’s wrong?”

Larry: “Please listen to me. I know Bethany. Something about this doesn’t make sense.”

Officer: “We’ll listen to any information you have, but you’ll need to do that without interfering with the investigation.”

Larry pointed toward Brooke.

Larry: “She has been having problems with Bethany. There has been tension between them for a while.”

Brooke: “Larry, don’t bring me into this.”

Larry: “You’re already in it.”

Bethany looked back at Brooke.

Bethany: “You did this.”

Brooke: “Did what?”

Bethany: “You know exactly what you did!”

Brooke: “Did you want to explain yourself?”

The officer stepped between them.

Officer: “That’s enough. Let’s keep everyone calm.”

Larry’s Anger Explodes

Bethany was escorted outside.

Larry stood at the doorway watching as the police car pulled away.

His jaw tightened.

Then he turned around.

Brooke was still standing there.

Still calm.

Still smiling.

Larry: “You lied to the police about Bethany, didn’t you?”

Brooke: “That’s a serious accusation.”

Larry: “I asked you a question.”

Brooke: “And I heard you.”

Larry: “Then answer it.”

Brooke: “I told the police what I believed happened.”

Larry shook his head.

Larry: “No. You told them a story.”

Brooke: “Maybe Bethany should have thought about that before creating so many problems.”

Larry: “Don’t play games with me!”

Brooke didn’t move.

Brooke: “You’re angry because Bethany got taken away.”

Larry: “Of course I’m angry!”

Brooke: “You weren’t this angry when she was hurting everybody else.”

Larry stared at her.

Larry: “This isn’t about taking sides. This is about telling the truth.”

Brooke: “And what if my truth is different from hers?”

Larry: “Then the evidence will prove who is telling the truth.”

The Police Discover Something Strange

Meanwhile, Bethany sat inside the police station, trying to keep herself calm.

An officer placed a folder on the desk.

Officer: “Bethany, we need you to explain your side of the story.”

Bethany: “I will. Because I know exactly what happened.”

The officer opened the folder.

Officer: “Before we begin, there is something you should know.”

Bethany: “What?”

Officer: “We’ve already found a few inconsistencies in the complaint.”

Bethany’s eyes widened.

Bethany: “Inconsistencies?”

Officer: “Yes. Some of the details don’t match the information we’ve received from other sources.”

Bethany immediately understood.

Bethany: “Brooke.”

The officer didn’t confirm anything.

Officer: “We’re simply saying that we’re investigating all sides.”

Bethany: “I knew she was lying.”

Brooke’s Secret Smile

Back at the house, Larry was still confronting Brooke.

Larry: “You know what happens if the police find out you knowingly made a false complaint?”

Brooke: “I didn’t make a false complaint.”

Larry: “Then why are you smiling?”

Brooke: “Maybe I’m smiling because I’m finally getting what I want.”

Larry froze.

Larry: “What does that mean?”

Brooke: “Maybe you’ll understand soon.”

Brooke picked up her phone and started walking away.

Larry: “Brooke!”

Brooke: “Yes?”

Larry: “If you did this, I’m going to find out.”

Brooke: “Then you better hurry.”

Brooke walked away with a cold smile.

Larry remained standing in the middle of the room, completely furious.

The Final Twist

Then Larry’s phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

Larry: “Hello?”

Officer: “Mr. Larry, this is the police station. We need you to come down here.”

Larry: “Why?”

Officer: “There is new information regarding Bethany’s case.”

Larry: “What information?”

There was a short pause.

Officer: “We believe the complaint may not be what it originally appeared to be.”

Larry’s expression changed.

He looked toward Brooke’s empty room.

His anger turned into suspicion.

Larry: “I’m on my way.”

He hung up the phone and grabbed his keys.

For the first time, Larry realized something much bigger might be happening.

And somewhere else, Brooke looked at her phone and smiled.

Because she knew Larry was finally getting close to the truth.

But what Larry didn’t know was that Brooke had one more secret waiting for him.
