Scene 1 — Bethany’s Threat

Larry asks Bethany why she is behaving this way and what she actually wants from him. He wants to understand the reason behind her sudden decision.

Bethany calmly tells Larry that there is only one way she will cooperate: he must agree to her conditions. Larry looks surprised and asks, “What kind of agreement?”

Scene 4 — Bethany Explains Her Pain

Bethany reminds Larry that for years she feels he has neglected his responsibilities toward her. She says she never received the love, attention, and appreciation she expected from their marriage.

Scene 5 — Her One Condition

Bethany tells Larry that she wants him to spend the night talking with her, listening to her, and giving her the emotional attention she has been asking for. In return, she promises to cooperate with whatever reasonable help Larry needs.

Scene 6 — Larry Is Speechless

Larry becomes completely silent. He does not expect Bethany to make such an emotional demand. Without giving her an immediate answer, he leaves the room.

Scene 7 — Larry Thinks About Sharra’s Mother

Larry thinks about the situation involving Sharra’s mother. He realizes that without Bethany and Mr. Numberger’s help, Sharra’s mother could face serious legal consequences.

Scene 8 — Larry’s Difficult Decision

That night, Larry returns to Bethany carrying a single red rose. He approaches her respectfully and gives her the rose, showing that he is willing to keep his part of the agreement.

Bethany becomes extremely happy and emotional. She believes Larry is finally giving her the attention and affection she has wanted for years, while Larry privately struggles with conflicting emotions.

Scene 12 — Larry’s Hidden Conflict

Larry continues to tell himself that he is only doing this because of the circumstances surrounding Sharra’s mother. Deep down, he does not want to restart the marriage, but he believes he must honor the agreement so he can help Sharra’s family.
