The garden looked like something straight out of a romantic movie. Pink and white flowers decorated the tables, candles flickered beneath the evening sky, and soft lights created a warm glow around the guests.

In the center of it all, Anthony stood on one knee in front of D’Nisha, holding a small ring box in his hand.

D’Nisha covered her mouth as tears filled her eyes.

“Yes, Anthony!” she cried.

Everyone cheered as Anthony slipped the ring onto her finger. D’Nisha hugged him tightly, smiling through her tears.

But behind the celebration, Shayla stood completely still. She wore a beautiful brown dress and held her purse tightly against her side.

She tried to smile. She tried to clap. She even whispered, “Congratulations.”

But nobody heard her.

Shayla had loved Anthony for a long time. She had kept those feelings hidden because she believed Anthony deserved to be happy, even if that happiness didn’t include her.

Watching him choose D’Nisha, however, made that reality painfully real.

Shayla wasn’t angry at D’Nisha. She knew D’Nisha hadn’t betrayed her. The truth was much harder to accept: Anthony had simply chosen someone else.

As the party continued, Shayla quietly moved toward the side of the garden. She wanted to leave before anyone noticed the tears forming in her eyes.

But Anthony noticed.

“I’m just going home,” she replied.

Anthony looked closely at her face. “You’ve been acting strange all evening.”

Shayla forced a smile. “I’m fine.”

Anthony shook his head. “No, you’re not. You know you can always talk to me.”

Shayla looked directly into his eyes. For one dangerous moment, she almost confessed everything.

Before he could ask what she meant, D’Nisha called his name. Anthony turned toward his fiancée, leaving Shayla alone with the feelings she couldn’t say out loud.

A few minutes later, everyone gathered for photographs. D’Nisha noticed Shayla standing far away and walked over to her.

“Shayla, why are you standing back here?”

“I just wanted to give you and Anthony some space,” Shayla answered.

D’Nisha smiled. “You’re happy for us, right?”

Shayla paused before answering.

“Of course.”

When D’Nisha walked away, Shayla’s smile disappeared. She pulled out her phone and opened an old photograph of herself and Anthony.

Suddenly, a message appeared from an unknown number.

Shayla immediately typed, “Who are you?”

The reply came almost instantly.

Shayla’s heart began racing. She looked across the garden at Anthony and D’Nisha, who were still celebrating their engagement.

Until that moment, Shayla’s jealousy had consumed her. Now, something else had taken its place: confusion.

Then another message arrived.

This time, there was a photograph attached.

Shayla opened it.

The moment she saw the image, all the color drained from her face. She stared at the photograph again and again, unable to believe what was in front of her.

Slowly, she looked toward Anthony.

Across the garden, Anthony suddenly noticed her expression. Their eyes met.
