AMBER WALKS IN ON DAVE AND EVELYN
SCENE 1 — AN UNEXPECTED MOMENT
The evening is quiet. Inside a beautifully decorated room, Dave sits on a sofa with Evelyn. They are sitting close together and having a serious conversation.
Dave looks concerned while Evelyn speaks softly.
EVELYN
I just don’t want there to be any more misunderstandings between us.
DAVE
Evelyn, I understand. But you have to realize how everything looks from the outside.
EVELYN
That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. I don’t want Amber thinking something is happening between us.
DAVE
Nothing is happening. You’re my friend, and that’s all.
SCENE 2 — AMBER ENTERS
Suddenly, the door opens.
Dave and Evelyn both turn toward the entrance.
Amber stands in the doorway. She freezes as her eyes move from Dave to Evelyn.
Amber’s expression instantly changes from confusion to shock. For several seconds, nobody says a word.
AMBER
What am I looking at?
SCENE 3 — AMBER DEMANDS AN ANSWER
Dave immediately stands up and tries to explain.
DAVE
You’re misunderstanding what you just saw.
AMBER
Misunderstanding? You are sitting here with Evelyn while I’m somewhere else planning our wedding.
DAVE
Amber, please listen to me.
AMBER
No! Why are you doing this to me?
Amber looks deeply hurt. Dave tries to convince her that Evelyn is only his friend and nothing more.
DAVE
Amber, Evelyn is my friend. We were just talking.
SCENE 4 — AMBER CONFRONTS EVELYN
Evelyn slowly stands and tries to explain herself.
EVELYN
Amber, I can explain—
AMBER
Don’t. I don’t want to hear another explanation.
Amber looks directly at Evelyn.
AMBER
Stay away from my life and Dave’s life.
EVELYN
I never wanted to come between you two.
AMBER
But you keep appearing between us.
SCENE 5 — THE TRUST IS BROKEN
Dave steps between them, trying to calm the situation.
DAVE
Enough. Both of you.
Amber turns toward Dave. Her eyes are filled with disappointment.
AMBER
No, Dave. This is not about Evelyn anymore. This is about you.
AMBER
I kept trusting you. Every time something happened, I found a reason to believe you.
AMBER
Every time someone warned me, I defended you. Every time I felt like walking away, I stayed.
Amber wipes away a tear as her voice begins to break.
AMBER
I kept trusting you, but you have hurt me again and again.
SCENE 6 — AMBER WALKS AWAY
DAVE
Amber, please don’t do this. I never wanted to hurt you.
Silence fills the room.
Evelyn quietly steps toward the door.
EVELYN
Maybe I should leave.
Evelyn leaves the room. The door closes behind her.
Dave turns back toward Amber.
DAVE
Please, just give me one more chance!
AMBER
I gave you chances.
Amber opens the door and walks away.
Dave remains standing in the doorway, watching Amber disappear down the hallway. He realizes that this time, words may not be enough to repair the damage.
FINAL MOMENT
Amber stops at the end of the hallway and looks back one final time.
Dave is still standing there.
Their eyes meet from a distance.
Neither of them moves.
Amber finally turns away and continues walking.
The wedding plans Amber once dreamed about now feel uncertain. Dave is left wondering whether he has finally lost the woman who trusted him the most.
