Brooke Doesn’t Want to Go to College 💔🎓
The morning was unusually quiet.
Soft sunlight filtered through the curtains as Brooke lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. She hadn’t slept much the night before. Her mind was filled with the same painful thoughts, replaying every conversation, every argument, and every moment she had shared with Isaiah.
College was supposed to be a new beginning. A new chapter. A chance to grow, meet new people, and build a future for herself.
But right now, none of that mattered to her.
All she could think about was Isaiah.
A Quiet Morning
A gentle knock came from the bedroom door.
Larry slowly opened the door and stepped inside.
He noticed Brooke still lying in bed.
Brooke didn’t answer immediately.
Larry walked closer and gently woke her.
Brooke slowly opened her eyes.
Instead of getting excited, she looked completely drained.
She sat up and pulled the blanket closer around herself.
Larry paused.
He thought maybe he had heard her wrong.
Brooke looked down at her hands.
Larry stared at her, confused.
Just a short time ago, Brooke had been preparing for this moment. Now, suddenly, she was refusing to go.
Larry sat down beside her.
His tone became calmer.
Brooke remained silent.
She tried to hold back her emotions, but her eyes began filling with tears.
Larry immediately noticed.
Brooke looked away.
That reaction told Larry everything.
He took a deep breath.
Brooke finally broke down.
Larry didn’t say anything for a moment.
He knew Brooke cared deeply about Isaiah, but he also knew she couldn’t allow one relationship to determine the rest of her life.
Larry listened carefully.
Her voice cracked.
Larry looked at her with concern.
He paused before continuing.
Brooke looked at him.
Brooke remained quiet.
He gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
Brooke looked down.
For the first time that morning, she seemed to really think about what Larry was saying.
Brooke took a slow breath.
Brooke looked at him.
Those words hit Brooke differently.
She looked toward the packed bags sitting near the door.
For a moment, she imagined herself leaving home, starting college, and building a life beyond everything she had known.
She was still hurting.
She was still confused.
But maybe heartbreak didn’t have to decide her future.
Larry stood up.
Brooke looked at him with tears in her eyes.
Larry gave her a small smile.
Brooke nodded slowly.
She still wasn’t completely ready.
But for the first time that morning, she began to wonder if maybe walking away from college wasn’t the answer.
Maybe it was simply the beginning of something new. ❤️🎓
