INT. BETHANY AND LARRY’S LIVING ROOM — EVENINGThe house is unusually quiet. Bethany sits on the couch, staring at her phone. A message reveals something she never expected to discover: Larry had told her he was going to Miami, but he actually went to Puerto Rico.
She rereads the message, hoping she has misunderstood. Her hands tremble as the truth sinks in.
“Wait a minute. He told me he was going to Miami. But this says Puerto Rico?”
She scrolls through the messages, searching for an explanation. Every new detail makes her question the trust she placed in her husband.
“How could he do this to me? Why would he lie about something like that?”
The front door opens. Larry walks inside, unaware that Bethany has discovered the truth.

“I’m tired of arguing about everything.”

“Yes. I’ve been thinking about it for a while.”
Bethany steps backward. She struggles to understand how Larry can speak so calmly about ending their marriage.
“Larry, I’m your wife. We’ve been through so much together. You can’t just stand here and tell me you’ve been planning to leave me.”
“I don’t know what else you expect me to say.”
“So all this time, while I was trying to fix things between us, you were already thinking about leaving?”
Larry says nothing. Bethany covers her mouth as tears begin streaming down her face.

Bethany Suddenly Collapses

“Don’t tell me to calm down! You lied to me, and now you’re telling me you want a divorce like our marriage means absolutely nothing!”
Bethany reaches for the edge of the couch to steady herself. Her vision blurs, and her knees begin to weaken.

A doctor eventually approaches.
“Doctor, how is she? Is Bethany going to be okay?”
