Larry’s House — Living Room — Evening
The house is alive with the excitement of a party. Music plays softly in the background. Decorations cover the walls, and guests move around the living room, laughing and talking.
Brooke is busy helping with the final preparations. Bethany stands nearby, watching everything with a serious expression. Larry walks through the room, checking that everything is ready.
Suddenly, there is a knock at the front door. Brooke looks toward the entrance. She smiles.
BROOKE: That must be Lynette.
Brooke quickly walks toward the door and opens it. Lynette stands outside. She smiles warmly and steps inside.
LYNETTE: Hey, Brooke. Thanks for inviting me.
BROOKE: Of course. Come in. Everyone is already getting ready.
Lynette walks into the living room. For a moment, everything seems normal. Then Bethany looks up. Her expression instantly changes. She freezes when she sees Lynette. The smile disappears from her face.
Lynette notices Bethany standing across the room. Her expression becomes serious. A tense silence fills the room.
BETHANY: Lynette?
Lynette looks directly at her.
LYNETTE: Yes. It’s me.
Bethany slowly walks toward her.
BETHANY: What are you doing here?
Lynette raises an eyebrow.
LYNETTE: I was invited.
Bethany looks toward Brooke.
BETHANY: You invited her?
Brooke looks uncomfortable.
BROOKE: Yes. I did.
Bethany shakes her head.
BETHANY: After everything that happened last time?
The Argument Grows
Lynette steps forward. Her voice becomes firmer.
LYNETTE: Don’t start this again, Bethany.
BETHANY: I’m not starting anything. I’m just asking why you’re here.
The tension between them grows. Other guests begin noticing the argument. Some conversations stop. Everyone starts watching.
LYNETTE: I came here for the party. I don’t want any drama tonight.
Bethany crosses her arms.
BETHANY: Then maybe you shouldn’t have come.
Lynette takes a deep breath. She tries to remain calm.
LYNETTE: Brooke invited me, and I’m staying.
Bethany gives her an angry look.
BETHANY: You always have to make everything about yourself.
Lynette’s patience begins to disappear.
LYNETTE: That’s enough.
Bethany steps closer.
BETHANY: No. I’m saying what everyone else is thinking.
The room becomes completely quiet. Brooke immediately steps between them.
BROOKE: Guys, please. This is supposed to be a party.
Lynette looks at Brooke.
LYNETTE: I’m trying to keep things peaceful.
She turns back toward Bethany.
LYNETTE: But she’s the one who keeps provoking me.
Bethany scoffs.
BETHANY: I’m not afraid of you.
Lynette Draws the Line
Lynette’s expression hardens. She points toward the front door.
LYNETTE: Then listen carefully.
Bethany looks at her.
LYNETTE: You are not going to ruin this party.
Bethany looks shocked by the statement.
BETHANY: Excuse me?
Lynette moves toward the entrance. Bethany refuses to move. The argument becomes louder.
LYNETTE: I said you’re not staying.
BETHANY: You don’t get to decide that!
LYNETTE: Tonight, I do.
Lynette firmly takes Bethany by the arm and guides her toward the front door. Bethany protests as the guests watch in surprise. Brooke follows them.
BROOKE: Lynette, calm down!
Lynette opens the front door. She gestures for Bethany to leave.
LYNETTE: Go.
Bethany turns around angrily.
BETHANY: You’re seriously throwing me out?
Lynette looks at her firmly.
LYNETTE: Yes.
The Door Opens
Bethany stares at her in disbelief. Lynette continues.
LYNETTE: The last time we had a party, you created a huge scene. I don’t want that happening again tonight.
Bethany tries to respond. Lynette raises her hand, stopping her.
LYNETTE: No. I’m not arguing about this anymore.
Bethany looks back toward the living room. Everyone is watching. She realizes there is nothing she can say that will change Lynette’s mind.
Lynette remains standing by the doorway.
LYNETTE: This party is supposed to be about having a good time.
She takes a breath.
LYNETTE: I don’t want fighting, arguments, or another scene.
Bethany looks furious.
BETHANY: You can’t just decide that I don’t belong here.
Lynette answers firmly.
LYNETTE: Tonight, I can.
A long silence follows. Brooke looks between them, clearly uncomfortable.
BROOKE: Bethany, maybe it’s better if you just leave for tonight.
Bethany looks at Brooke. She is hurt by the words.
BETHANY: Wow. So that’s it?
Brooke doesn’t answer immediately.
Bethany Walks Away
Lynette remains beside the open door.
LYNETTE: Go somewhere else tonight. Visit another friend or stay somewhere else.
She points toward the street.
LYNETTE: But I don’t want to see you at this party.
Bethany takes one final look at everyone inside. Her expression is filled with anger and disappointment. She turns and walks away from the house.
Lynette watches until Bethany disappears from sight. She slowly closes the door. The room remains silent.
Brooke looks at Lynette.
BROOKE: That got out of control quickly.
Lynette exhales. The anger in her face begins to fade.
LYNETTE: I didn’t come here to fight with her.
She looks around at the guests.
LYNETTE: I just wanted everyone to enjoy the party.
The Party Resumes
Larry finally steps forward. He has been watching the situation from across the room.
LARRY: Is everything okay?
Brooke looks at him.
BROOKE: Not exactly.
Larry glances toward the closed door.
LARRY: What happened?
Lynette calmly explains.
LYNETTE: Bethany and I started arguing. I didn’t want another scene like last time, so I asked her to leave.
Larry nods slowly.
LARRY: Well, hopefully things calm down now.
Brooke looks around the room. The guests slowly begin talking again. The music starts playing. The party atmosphere gradually returns.
Lynette takes a deep breath and tries to smile.
LYNETTE: Let’s just enjoy the evening.
Brooke nods.
BROOKE: Yeah. Let’s have a good night.
The camera moves toward the front window. Outside, Bethany is walking away from the house. She looks back one last time. Inside, the party continues.
But the tension from the confrontation still hangs in the air.
Inside, the music plays on and the party carries forward — but outside, Bethany looks back one last time, and the tension never really leaves the room.
