WAYNE & D’NISHA’S SECRET MARRIAGE — ANTHONY’S HEARTBREAK
SCENE 1 — WAYNE’S OFFICE
The office is unusually quiet. D’Nisha sits across from Wayne, looking through a stack of papers. Wayne watches her for a moment before leaning back in his chair. A small smile appears on his face.
WAYNE
You know, D’Nisha, you look different today.
D’NISHA
Different how?
WAYNE
Beautiful.
D’Nisha tries to hide her smile. She looks down at the papers, pretending to be focused on work.
D’NISHA
Wayne, stop flirting with me.
WAYNE
Why? You don’t seem to mind.
D’Nisha looks away, but her smile gives away her feelings. Wayne slowly gets out of his chair and walks toward her.
WAYNE
You deserve somebody who makes you feel wanted.
D’NISHA
And you think that’s you?
WAYNE
I know it is.
The atmosphere suddenly becomes more serious. The distance between them seems to disappear.
SCENE 2 — WAYNE MAKES A SHOCKING PROPOSAL
Wayne and D’Nisha sit together in the office. Their playful conversation has turned into an emotional discussion about D’Nisha’s relationship with Anthony.
D’NISHA
Wayne, I don’t know what is happening between us.
WAYNE
Maybe we’re finally admitting what we’ve both been feeling.
D’NISHA
Anthony and I have been through so much.
WAYNE
Exactly. You’ve spent too much time being hurt because of Anthony.
D’Nisha becomes quiet. Wayne reaches for her hand.
WAYNE
You need to move on.
D’NISHA
Move on with you?
WAYNE
Yes. I think we should get married.
D’Nisha is stunned by Wayne’s words. She never expected him to suggest marriage so suddenly.
WAYNE
Then you can finally stay away from Anthony and start a new life.
D’NISHA
Maybe you’re right.
WAYNE
So that’s a yes?
D’NISHA
Yes.
SCENE 3 — THE WEDDING
A beautiful wedding ceremony takes place. D’Nisha walks toward Wayne wearing an elegant wedding dress. Wayne watches her with a proud smile.
OFFICIANT
Do you, Wayne, take D’Nisha to be your wife?
WAYNE
I do.
OFFICIANT
And do you, D’Nisha, take Wayne to be your husband?
D’NISHA
I do.
Wayne and D’Nisha exchange rings. The ceremony is complete.
Wayne and D’Nisha are now officially husband and wife. But their happiness is about to bring devastating news to Anthony.
SCENE 4 — ON THE WAY TO ANTHONY’S HOUSE
Wayne drives while D’Nisha sits beside him. She keeps looking at her wedding ring, but nervousness fills her face.
D’NISHA
Do you really think we should tell Anthony today?
WAYNE
Absolutely.
D’NISHA
I’m scared of how he’ll react.
WAYNE
Whatever happens, you’re my wife now.
D’Nisha takes a deep breath as they arrive at Anthony’s house.
D’NISHA
Let’s do this.
SCENE 5 — ANTHONY DISCOVERS THE TRUTH
Anthony is sitting alone in his living room when someone knocks on the door. He gets up and opens it.
The moment Anthony sees Wayne and D’Nisha together, his expression changes. Then he notices D’Nisha’s wedding ring.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha… what’s that?
WAYNE
Anthony, we came here to tell you something.
D’NISHA
Anthony… Wayne and I got married.
Anthony freezes. His eyes widen as he struggles to process what D’Nisha has just said.
ANTHONY
You married him?
D’NISHA
Yes. I wanted to move on.
Anthony suddenly places a hand over his chest. His breathing becomes heavy.
WAYNE
Anthony?
ANTHONY
I… I can’t…
Anthony collapses to the floor.
D’Nisha screams for help while Wayne immediately calls for an ambulance.
D’NISHA
Anthony! Please, somebody help him!
SCENE 6 — THE HOSPITAL
The emergency room doors swing open as doctors rush Anthony inside. D’Nisha stands in the hallway with tears in her eyes.
D’NISHA
This is my fault.
WAYNE
No. You didn’t cause this.
After several tense moments, a doctor walks toward them.
DOCTOR
Anthony suffered a severe cardiac episode. We’ve stabilized him for now, but his condition is serious.
D’Nisha covers her mouth and struggles to hold back her tears.
D’NISHA
Can we see him?
DOCTOR
Not yet. We need to monitor him closely.
The doctor walks away. D’Nisha sits down and begins crying.
SCENE 7 — ANTHONY WAKES UP
Hours later, Anthony slowly opens his eyes. He sees the hospital equipment around him and realizes where he is.
ANTHONY
D’Nisha…
A nurse notices that Anthony is awake and checks on him.
NURSE
Mr. Anthony, you’re awake.
ANTHONY
She married Wayne…
Tears roll down Anthony’s face.
ANTHONY
I lost her.
SCENE 8 — D’NISHA’S DIFFICULT DECISION
D’Nisha sits outside Anthony’s hospital room. Wayne stands beside her, trying to convince her to go home and rest.
WAYNE
You should go home and rest.
D’NISHA
I can’t.
WAYNE
Why?
D’NISHA
Because no matter what happened between us, Anthony still matters to me.
Wayne becomes uncomfortable.
WAYNE
D’Nisha, he’s your past.
D’NISHA
I know. But I don’t want him to die believing that I never cared about him.
D’Nisha slowly walks toward Anthony’s room. She stops outside the door and takes a deep breath before entering.
D’NISHA
Anthony…
ANTHONY
You came to show me that you’re happy?
D’NISHA
No. I came because I needed to know you were alive.
Anthony looks at her wedding ring. His eyes fill with tears.
ANTHONY
You already broke my heart, D’Nisha.
D’Nisha stands frozen, realizing that Anthony’s pain is deeper than she expected.
Outside the room, Wayne watches through the glass. His expression becomes uneasy.
The marriage Wayne believed would finally separate D’Nisha from Anthony may have created an even bigger problem. Anthony’s physical recovery has only just begun, but his emotional battle is far from over.
