Shayla’s Desperate Move
A secret request for money turns into a painful moment of realization.
Scene 1 — Mike’s Room
The evening is quiet. Inside Mike’s room, warm light fills the space. Mike is sitting near the window, lost in thought, when there is a soft knock at the door.
Before he can respond, the door slowly opens. Shayla steps inside.
She looks calm on the outside, but her eyes reveal that she has already made a plan.
“Shayla? What are you doing here?”
Shayla closes the door behind her and takes a few slow steps toward him.
“I need to talk to you, Mike.”
Mike studies her face. He knows Shayla well. After all, she is not a stranger to him. She is his ex.
“Is something wrong?”
Shayla lowers her eyes and pretends to struggle with her words.
“I didn’t want to come here and ask you for anything.”
Mike remains silent.
“But I don’t really have a choice anymore.”
She slowly looks back at him.
“I need some money.”
Mike’s expression changes. He knows Shayla has been relying heavily on Anthony, but things between Shayla and Anthony have not been easy lately.
“How much do you need?”
Shayla hesitates. She realizes that Mike is already willing to help.
“Just enough to get me through the next few days.”
Mike doesn’t question her further. He walks toward a drawer, takes out some cash, counts it quickly, and holds it out to her.
“Here.”
Shayla looks at the money before taking it from his hand. A small smile appears on her face.
“Thank you, Mike.”
Mike looks at her carefully. There is still a trace of the old feelings between them.
“You didn’t have to be afraid to ask me.”
“I knew you wouldn’t turn me away.”
Shayla quietly puts the money away. For her, the problem is solved.
Scene 2 — Anthony Arrives
At that exact moment, Anthony walks down the hallway. He has come looking for Mike because he wants to call him outside.
Anthony approaches Mike’s door. Just as he reaches it, he notices that the door is slightly open.
Anthony stops.
Through the opening, he sees Mike standing in front of Shayla. Then he notices the money in Shayla’s hand.
Anthony’s expression immediately changes. He doesn’t say a word. He simply watches.
Mike has just given Shayla money. Shayla is standing there, accepting it without hesitation.
Anthony’s jaw tightens.
“So that’s what she did.”
He remembers Shayla asking him for money. He remembers telling her that he could not give her any for a while.
Now she has gone straight to Mike.
“I told her I couldn’t give her money for some time…”
“And the moment I said no, she came here.”
Anthony watches Shayla carefully.
“She didn’t even hesitate.”
“She really is that desperate for money.”
Anthony slowly shakes his head. His disappointment begins turning into anger.
Scene 3 — Anthony’s Realization
Anthony steps away from the door. The hallway suddenly feels colder.
He stands alone for a moment, thinking about everything.
He remembers all the times Shayla had asked him for financial help. He remembers how easily she accepted whatever he gave her.
And now, when he could not give her money, she had immediately found someone else.
Mike.
Her ex.
“I thought she needed me.”
Anthony looks down at the floor.
“But maybe she only needed what I could give her.”
The realization hurts more than he expected.
He doesn’t know what Shayla has told Mike. He doesn’t know whether her story was completely true. But what he has witnessed is enough to make him question everything.
“No. I’m not going to make a scene.”
Anthony turns away. His face remains calm, but his eyes are filled with disappointment.
Scene 4 — Shayla Is Caught
A few moments later, Shayla opens Mike’s door. She steps into the hallway, still keeping the money safely in her bag.
She looks satisfied.
Then she notices Anthony standing farther down the hallway.
Her smile disappears. Shayla freezes.
Anthony looks directly at her. Neither of them speaks.
For several seconds, there is complete silence.
Shayla realizes that Anthony may have seen everything.
“Anthony…”
Anthony raises his hand slightly. He doesn’t want to hear an explanation yet.
“I came here to talk to Mike.”
Shayla becomes nervous.
“I can explain.”
“Can you?”
Shayla remains silent.
“I told you I couldn’t give you money for some time.”
“And you went straight to Mike.”
Shayla looks away.
“I needed the money.”
Anthony gives a bitter smile.
“I know.”
“But now I understand something.”
“What?”
“You don’t seem to care where the money comes from.”
Shayla’s expression hardens.
“That isn’t fair.”
Anthony looks at her for a long moment.
“Maybe it isn’t.”
“But that’s what it looks like.”
Anthony turns away.
Shayla watches him walk away. For the first time, the confidence she had moments earlier begins to disappear.
She realizes that Anthony has seen the one thing she didn’t want him to see.
The Trust Begins to Break
Anthony continues walking down the hallway, his mind filled with one painful thought.
“I refused to give her money for a while… and she immediately went to someone else.”
“Maybe I finally know what she really wants from me.”
Anthony walks away, leaving Shayla standing silently behind him.
The hallway falls quiet again. But the trust between Anthony and Shayla has already begun to break.
